Garmin R50 – Home Tee Hero – Pinehurst Golf Resort – The Cradle (Pinehurst, NC, USA)
Earlier this year, I was in South Carolina, and we drove through to North Carolina, West Virginia, Ohio, and all those states all the way back home to Wisconsin. And one of the stops we made was at Pinehurst Golf Resort. And I did not get a chance to golf there, but we stopped there. I got to visit it, and it’s just an awesome place. I definitely want to go there sometime. But I also really need to work on my short game. So, I’m going to play the cradle from Pinehurst Resort. My left shoulder is bothering me a little bit from just everything I did today. So, it is a a nine-hole short course and so that’s what I’m going to play today. I also am barefoot, which I normally don’t ever do, but I think something I’m really struggling with is my footwork. So, I want to see if going barefoot might help with that a little bit. Also, just kind of coincidence here, I think some people do play the cradle barefoot. This wasn’t actually planned. It’s just I want to see if it helps kind of keep my feet a little more stable, but let’s go ahead and play the cradle. Now, the only choice of T- box is women’s or men’s. So, I’m going to do the men’s here. Putting I’m actually going to turn off for this one because I only just want to focus on my short game, not really my putting. Um, I’m keeping the elevation at 787 feet. The humidity, I’ll do the course location, which is 55%. the temperature. Um, I’m going to go a little warmer to 70 because that’s kind of what I like to keep it standard at. Uh, the wind I’m going to turn off for this. And here we go. Hole number one here is a 111 yard par three. I think they’re all going to be par threes. Uh, it is 16 ft downhill, but I’m just going to go with my 50Β°ree wedge still. Another thing I want to try doing is I typically don’t take practice swings here or when I’m actually on the course. So, I think over the winter, one thing I want to do is kind of get in the habit of actually taking a practice swing. It may not be all a full out swing, but just get in the habit of what I actually want to do when I am going to hit the ball. Okay, that’s going to be in the two shot. Give me a circle for a par. Hole two is just an 89 yard par three. So, I have my 60deree wedge here, uh, which typically goes about 90 yards for me. Just going to try and get it close. See, I got to stay balanced better. That’s what I really got to work on. Oh, that’s way right. That was terrible. Okay, so I’m in the bunker. I am losing 20% power here. Really want to get it to that 22 to 28 yard range to give me a one shot. Give me so I can still end up with a par here. Did I do it? I did it. It’s going to be a par. Even though I hit way behind that. That would have been terrible in real life, but sometimes I’ll take what I can get. Hole three here is a 68 yd par three, 11 ft uphill. Try and get it close enough. Not near enough. And that’s why I want to do this. This is one of those distances I struggle with currently. 20 yards. Again, I’m losing 20% power here. Just want to get into that 17 to 23 yard range. And this is not how I would normally swing out of a bunker. Okay, it’s going to be another par. out of a bunker. That’s not how I’m swinging though at all. Here’s a 125 yard par three. It’s 21 ft downhill. Uh this is where I’m kind of in between clubs because my pitching wedge is about 135 and my 50Β°ree is 115. Um, so I think what I’m gonna do here is actually just choke down or up, however you want to say it, a little bit more in my pitching wedge and try and get it close. So with my grips here, typically I’m grabbing right about here. When I want to get a little less distance, I’m just kind of going one uh further notch or wrap down to try and get a little less distance. Right behind it. Might be okay, though. Too short. All right. So, here I’m chipping. I have 15 yards. I’m losing 10% power out of the rough. Uh, in my last video, I think I mentioned I’m trying kind of the Jason Day like flat wrist chipping method. And the other day I was watching a video with um the Brian Bros and Jason Day where they were playing um I think it was like a poorly rated course. And one thing I thought was interesting, I don’t remember if it was on the Brian Bros channel or Jason Day’s channel, but he mentioned that he actually watches a lot of small YouTubers and small creators. And honestly, I highly doubt he watches me, especially because I tend to do simulator golf and not real golf. Um, but Jason, if you do happen to see this, please give me a chipping lesson. I could really use it. Too far. Dang it. So, that’s going to be a bogey. Here we have a 53 yard par three. So I just have my 60Β°ree wedge here. Just going to try and get this close. Oh, that’s going to be a three putt bogey. Dang it. Like I said, that’s the distance I really need to work on, and that’s part of the reason I’m doing this right now. Okay, so here I have 63 yards. I need to obviously hit it further than the last hole. Let’s see if I can do any better here. It’s going to be short, too. Please don’t be a three. Oh, it’s going to be a three puck. Get me for another bogey, I think. Dang it. Not going uh too well for me here. Okay, here is a 91 yard shot. So, I’m just going to try and do a full 60Β°ree wedge here. didn’t get the draw on it. Oh, I actually got lucky that didn’t go onto the green here. So, I have to get a chance to try and chip it close. Okay, so I have 19 yards to the pin. Um, it’s a three yard gimme circle, so I want to get between 16 and 22 yards here. I hit way behind that. Please turn out. Okay. Just roll into the one shot. Give me circle for a par. Here is an 83 yard hole. Uh 10 ft uphill. I have my 60Β°ree wedge. Again, just going to do a full shot. I wonder if I’m opening my face up too much and that’s why I’m getting shorter than usual. Oh, don’t spin too far back. Oh, just stayed in. That’s going to be a two putt. Give me for a par. Here’s hole nine, which I believe is the last hole here. 115 yards, 10 ft downhill. So, I just have my 50Β°ree wedge. [Music] be good. Okay, so that should be a two putt gimme for a par. So that was the cradle at Pinehurst. Just a nice little part three course that they have. U I decided not to do flyovers on this one because they were kind of boring. So, I’m thinking the real course looks way better than that because even just the putting green was awesome. I don’t know if the cradle is on GS Pro. I’m kind of curious to see that. If it is, I might do that in a separate video. Um, but I really hope you enjoyed that. I had to get some extra short game practice in, so that’s going to help me out a lot. And as I mentioned, Jason Day, I’m sure you’re not watching this video, but if you are, please help me with my chipping and possibly even my putting because you’re a great putter, too. Um, otherwise, if you are watching this video and there’s any courses that you want to see me play on either Home to Hero or GSP Pro, please leave a comment with the name of the course, where it’s located, and if there’s any specific holes you want to see me play, which holes those are. Otherwise, thank you again for watching. I really do appreciate it, and I really do enjoy making these videos. Thank
