This is the short showing you the first moves we can add to larger aikido combinations like neck grab release. I will post a longer video on this next week mid week so come back for more instruction. Find the long format on @CosmicZenLife eta Wednesday 8pm PST.

The full self defense training video focuses on using the thumb lock to aid in getting out of a neck grab. I will also show a wrist grab and how to get out of someone grabbing the back of your head/hair. These moves can be done by women, teens or men in order to release themselves from an unwanted grip. Practice them with others to become proficient or better yet – seek one on one training with a professional who can correct your actions. Also – when doing this with a partner – PLEASE GO SLOWLY THE FIRST FEW TIMES – you do not want to injure your partner by not knowing your own strength. When it is working, it works fast. If it is not working for you, they won’t feel it.
Self-defense comes in many styles and in via many techniques. This style comes from Aikido also known as Hapkido. Think of it as the art of bending or breaking at joints in order to seek release from a perpetrator or opponent. Aikido is just one of the styles you will learn when watching this channel.
Like any technique, you will only become as good as you practice consistently but just knowing how to do this is a great start.

He’s shaking my hand and I’m pinching down. Sorry, you’re seeing real reaction. Um, and that I didn’t even push that hard. But what I did in that case is I I took my thumb and I put it on his knuckle while simultaneously taking my fingers underneath and pushing up. It doesn’t take very much. Now, if somebody’s double jointed in that hand, I have had people this does not work on no matter how well you do it because they’re double jointed in that knuckle. Maybe 5% of the people are in that circumstance. All I did is I went over push down on this part of the knuckle while simultaneously pushing up. Okay. Another version of that is to take the thumb while putting this here and twisting backwards. Okay. Again, if they are double jointed, that’s not going to work. But one more time. He’s hating this. One more time. I’m going to put my hand here. I’m going to grab underneath. This one takes a little bit more effort. I’m going to put this on top. I’m going to twist this part of the thumb up while this goes down. and instantly it hurts. Now notice where this hand is. I’m holding him here. If I did the same maneuver and I didn’t hold him, he can bring his arm up. But if I hold him here while I’m doing this, it changes his position. You’re um you respond very well. Okay. Um he’s not used to me doing this on him.
