Well, a very unusual situation here. Um, my second shot has come to rest in this gorbush. Um, I’ve got two options here really. One, I could have a go and try and play it like Ernie L’s famously did in the 2004 open at Royal Trune. Not sure about that. My other option is to take an unplayable drop on the rule 19.2. Now, I’ve got three options there. Uh, one would be to go back to where I played my second shot from and and play four from there on the penalty of stroke and distance. Secondly, I could take a line taking the ball and the hole and go back as far as I want. However, that’s straight back into even deeper uh gor. So, that’s not too good. Third option would be to take lateral to club length relief on for penalty of one shot. I would use a reference point just under uh where the ball sits on the ground. Measure two club lengths and I could drop there. Now, that would be the sensible thing to do, but uh I think I’m going to do an Ernie L’s. Let’s give it a go. Should have taken a penalty drop.

“Unplayable”. No. It’s not. Unplayable’s should be STRICTLY for literally unplayable shots. That is playable. That is a fact. In fact, not only is it playable, a shot like that is why I play golf. Do you not enjoy a challenge? How often are you going to get an opportunity to test your skills like that? And you want to just drop it, cause, “meh lower scores….” 🤣 Pass me my 7 wood, we’re going to space baby.
I knew someone who dropped a ball from a tree as an unpalatable only to hit it into another tree.
