CHICO, Calif. — Beyond Golf Chico at DeGarmo Park is preparing for soft openings before the end of November. General Manager Matt Carton said the facility is nearing completion of its first phase, with final touches being made to the entryway and protective screens installed to keep errant balls on the course.

The 9-hole par-three course offers a unique format, with holes ranging from 40 to 115 yards and two tee boxes per hole to accommodate different skill levels. Beyond Golf Chico is partnering with the Northern California Golf Association to offer youth programs, incorporating elements from the First Tee program.

Additionally, the facility will feature a 100-by-40-foot screen, developed in collaboration with “Smash Swing,” allowing up to 12 golfers to practice simultaneously.

There’s not a lot of public golf in Chico as well as places for families to go and have a bite to eat, but also have something to do. So the idea here is a great place for the community,” Carton said.

The course and its amenities are privately funded, with the land leased from the Chico Area Recreation and Parks District. The district plans to offer a program for children to learn golf and life skills, aiming to launch during phase one in the fall.
