WACO – The fall season closed out for the East Texas A&M University women’s golf team on Tuesday with the Bear Brawl at the Ridgewood Country Club.
The one-day tournament saw 10 teams play 36 holes with Texas A&M, the fourth ranked team in the country, winning by four strokes over Baylor, who is ranked No. 15.
The Lions totaled a score of 617 on the day, which was eight strokes back of UIW. SFA came in 10th with a score of 650.
Individually for the Lions, Linnea Olsson (Beddingestrand, Sweden) tied for 22nd place with a score of 150 (73-77), Tais Moreno (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) tied for 41st place with a score of 155 (77-78), Becky Baberg (Asendorf, Germany) tied for 47th place with a score of 156 (77-79).
Rounding out the Lions, Marie Baertz (Luxembourg) tied for 48th place with a score of 157 (74-83) and Marie Naeher (Neuenbuerg, Germany) took 57th with a score of 160 (78-82). Baylor’s Yurang Li won the individual medal with a score of 135, winning by two strokes over the Aggies’ Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio.
The full spring schedule for the Lions will be released in the coming weeks. East Texas A&M is in its first season as full members of Division I and being eligible for NCAA-sponsored postseason events.
