TULSA, Okla. – Washington men’s golf concluded the fall season with a ninth-place finish at The Clerico on Tuesday at Southern Hills Country Club.
“A tough week for us in the end,” head coach Alan Murray said. “We didn’t perform to our capabilities and have some work to do during the offseason.”
Finn Koelle came back out early this morning to conclude the second round to put the Huskies in seventh heading into the final 18. Koelle battled the tough conditions in the third round for an even par, tied for the best round of the day, to move 21 spots up the leaderboard. He finished the tournament in a tie for 22nd at 10-over.
“Amazing round by Finn today in really brutal conditions,” Murray added. “It was as good a round as I have seen in college golf, and he was very impressive.”
Brock Maulding had the second-best round for the Dawgs today with a 7-over (77) to finish the tournament in 53rd.
Jack Murphy posted a final round 80 to finish the tournament at 14-over and in a tie for 34th.
Grady Millar and Jacob Goode had final rounds of 82 (+12) to round out the scoring to place T36 and T38, respectively.
“We don’t compete until the end of January, and the guys will have a little time off before we regroup and come up with our plan for the time between now and then.”
The Huskies will be back in action in January for the Southwestern Invitational in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The tournament will run from Jan. 26-28.
