A few highlights already this morning. This is Darcy Beritton, the Victorian. His second shot. Just a pitch at the opening hole. Very tricky pin there. Look at that. Tucked just over a slope right near the bunker. And that was beautifully executed. Hit that in there any better. And Darcy once again down the hill right to left. Paws that into the middle and a great start. That’s exactly what these players need to do, Nick. They certainly do. Anthony Quail especially starting the day six shots back an early bird low. Well Cory Crawford he won the first event this season in Papu Guinea. There is a birdie at number three to get to five under par. RC here his third shot on number two the par five up onto the mount and just letting it catapult it down onto the green. Very nice shot there. Not a difficult bunker shot here. Just needs to clip this one. Let it halfway to the hole and let it release out. What a great ball follow. What a great shot. And I wonder if he’ll tap that in with the long putter or the short putter. It’s the man of the man of the moment, Nick. Yeah, not ideal where he was there going long and no surprise just going down to the front edge. He’s going to be struggling to save save his bogey. Going to have to put yourself in good position. And as Andrew Martin alluded to earlier in his interview, staying short of the hole is not a bad thing. Although Tyler Wood would just prove me wrong there. Still short of the hole. Yeah. And he was top 15 after three rounds. Oh wow. Wow. Can make some birdies. That’s an opening triple bogey for Tyler Wood. And I’ll bet you when he was staring down the second shot at that Good roll. Anthony Quail. Birdie putt at par five second. Watch out for Anthony Quail today. That lost his swing a little bit coming down the stretch yesterday. Eight for Barbaria. But that looks like an excellent opening T- shot. Three, wouldn’t it? Hang on. Goodness me. Hello. Keep going. Discipline, doesn’t it? He’s not being influenced by what he saw before him. Our leader now. He’s been around for a long time now. Andrew Martin, won golf tournaments. He’ll just go about the way he wants to play this golf course. Earlier in 2025 is the Western Australian Jordan Duel. Here he is for a birdie at two. He’s ate under passions. He’d love them. Hey, Jordy. Third shot of one. We noticed this yesterday. He was just off a few greens. Attempt there short as we go to Jared Edwards. It’s for Eagle I believe at the second. That is an incredible shot and he wouldn’t have seen it finish either because your second shot you have to take it straight over the trees there at the second within about 15 ft goes to the claw. But whatever works in this game. Well, we’ll get a chance with Patrick Healey. I want you to pull his putting grip apart for a left-hander. Did you see that? Reverse claw. Reverse claw. Never thought of the reverse claw. Left-handed boing part at three for Blake Perkins. He only been a pro for a couple of years trying to, you know, hone his game. He works really hard at the game physically and mentally. Always with Grant Field up there on the Sunshine Coast. Grant Field’s got a few good players. A little shy, but the way he’s played that first hole as the tournament leader, he he’s going to be so tough to beat today. That is a huge opening putt for Barbary. Remember went round the front nine in four under par yesterday. Came back in two over beat fellow West Australian Hayden Baron in a playoff. But he’s a Mount Lolly member. So all Mount Lolly members are good players. Obviously you got Hannah Green and back in the day Wayne Smith and what a putt there by Jordan D. But his coach, Alex Mai, they do a lot of work together and uh he’s just been steadily progressing and that’s the real key in this game is to just try and get better every day. Try try try not to make huge leaps and bounds. Steady small steps and you can see his she certainly did. I think it was was a WebEx player series Murray she Murray River she came close to. Let’s go back to Barbi. He’ll be looking to send this one down. Number two. Absolutely imperative as Nick said to find the fairway here on number two. That one hasn’t unfortunately. Presented by Tailor-Made Building Services. Let’s get to the American Patrick Healey. Double at one. That’s a birdie at two. Take advantage of those and you can make a good score. Only the one eagle on the second today was Jared Edwards. one we’ve seen and and Conan would be hoping to send this up the left hand side. And that lean says it’s going a little right. I did mention to him, hey, um just make sure that that’s not touching. And he said no, it wasn’t. So good. Oh, it’s barbarian. Lorty up ahead at the third. unlucky 65 yesterday equal low round of the day. He is playing in the Northern Territory. Who would have thought you did check the check those three boxes? That’s a good par save for Andrew Martin. That’s huge for Andrew Martin there. Conra trying to clean up for his par at second. two behind water all the way down the left back into the breeze. Although what breeze there is has dropped. Players are all just trying to get this about 220 230 down the fairway. And that is exactly what Nathan’s done here. Good start for Barbi. Well, he manhandled this nine yesterday. It was the second nine that Yeah, just very gusty out here at the moment, guys. some of the into the winds, downwinds. Wind’s not super predictable. Wood’s a good option off here for Condrin. He’s absolutely piped this one down the middle. It does sound boring, but that’s the way you’ve got to play this, especially when you’re leading the golf tournament. Love his setup, Andrew. He’s got very final group is absolutely on fire so far today. You’re hitting a lot of really top quality shots already. That’s three perfect T- shots that give yourself as many birdie looks as possible and par will be your friend today. Jake Mloud just going a little bit long and left here at the third and as we’ve seen number of times players using the putter from off the edge and well done from Jake Mloud. Yeah, very nice there. That’s playing the hardest hole on the golf course today. The third Mloud will clean this up. Just put that there’s a there’s about six or seven holes there here today that left-handed American. Third shot. There’s for birdie. Oh, well done. Well, he’s worked it out, hasn’t he? Let’s just use the putter from off the edge. Don’t chip. He’s got the If he was right-handed, it would look perfect, but he’s left-handed, so that’s why it looks kind of strange. Ain’t it weird sometimes when you watch like left-handers that putt right-handed? Yeah, I knew the Northern Territory was good for fishing. I didn’t realize Palmerston Golf and Country Club was. But anyway, here’s Barbies at one and two commercial. Bit of a slow putt up the hill there. Jason Hong here for his part. And there’s the putts that have to go in to keep the momentum. And any door will do. 14 on, 12 from the left. Doesn’t suit a lefthander. This whole position, 25year-old, he’s just been playing really many tour stuff in the United States the past year or two in the minor league tour in Florida. Oh, that’s back to back rock solid par putts from Andrew Martin. This for bogey after an unplayable up and out of that quick as we go one hole ahead to Jordy. Long range for par. Well, he’s just on the bogey train now, isn’t he? Well done. That was a very confident putt. You know the left below the right is Mloud. Another three putt putterwise. Uh yeah, you don’t hear about that too much, but bounce on the sand wedges for sure. You do change the bounce as you go along depending on conditions as Neely misses one with his reverse claw. That’s an unusual three putt for him. Oh, he’s judged that beautifully. Judged that to perfection. That was fantastic right there. Never know it when you’re going to jag one, too. Didn’t go in, but it’s an excellent lag. Yep. I suppose we can shake our head like, “Oh, I’m disappointed.” But that’s a pretty good four after the mistake off the tea. momentarily. Now, Nostradamus over here, Paul Gout, that’s three really good putts in a row from between six and 10 ft. He didn’t even make it there because he had too many clubs in his bag as he teed off. Is that right? Yeah. He went to practice and as we watch James Conan just cleaning up, went to the playoff and all of a sudden too many clubs and see you later. Ooh, that hurts as we watch Nathan Jordy here for his birdie. Oh yeah, and he snagged the long one from downtown and Crow for that pro tip brought to you by Challenger, Australia’s leader in retirement income and fantastic support of the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia. Now Andrew Martin, our leader, his second to five, laidback and again clinical wedge. Yeah, very good wedge in there and here on the fifth. Surprised he laid back. He’s been attacking early on. Firm fairways. He can get it down there. He’s pinned high here, James Conan. But if you don’t want to go long, there’s a bit of water waiting for him. Ah, he’s played an absolutely magnificent shot downwind, downhill. That had water written all over it off that firm line. That’s just spectacular to put that spin on it. Usually right of this pin and it’s such a tough shot. James made it look easy, but uh par’s your absolute friend. You’ve seen how difficult it is to lag the ball close to the hole with these long putts, but Pari stellar effort. Tap in looks comfortable over the putter. Barbari here was yesterday. Yeah, they can get away from you. The the downwind putts on grainy greens. Yeah, you’re right. He does look a lot better with that left hand low pull. Good roll. Good four on the difficult sixth. Can Andrew man get it back to 12 under in a two-stroke lead here at five? Wasn’t the most confident roll, but tap in part. Good look there. Putter staying low to the ground. Another chance gone. A begging. It’s one of those stories that who knows how it’s going to end. I I don’t know of another professional golfer who’s succeeded with only one eye, but uh time will tell and and no matter what happens, it’s it’s a it’s an incredible journey for him. At six, he won our NextG AMA tour world final at Kingston Heath in 2022 by 15 strokes. It was cold, windy, showery, miserable. He shot eight under par for three rounds. Declan O’Donner in Australia at the moment, just one Canadian amitter. He uh he finished second and um he certainly can and shouldn’t have any problem stopping it with the wind at the moment and coming out out of the fairway. Just a sand wedge for him. Yeah, there we go. Ball striking exhibition continues for Barbari. Hong now for par at seven. He’s puted these well all day. Nice and firm in the back. just not getting that speed right and the right line parameter eels couple of weeks ago. Mloud who was a big cowboy supporter there he is gone but the Broncos are on fire. Oh that’s a fantastic shot from Jake Mloud. I think that’s very similar to both of us actually. Grinders, workers. Oh, great putt from Nathan Barbi. Spoke to John John Sahan who is his coach. They’ve been working on in his game. I I think what he’s trying to do is is detach himself from the outcome a little bit more. We we get so focused on results and trying to tablets in your bag in my fatigue as we watch Mloud here for his birdie. Oh, wins the skin there. Yes, he does. That gets him to within two. And don’t forget when you talk about experience near the top of the leaderboard. Jason Hong here for birdie on the eighth. Trying to get one back. That needs to go left. Stayed right all the way there. Get it to the middle of the greens on those ones that are awful in the short siding and then go at it when you have got a little bit of room around it. Well, this has been a terrific fight back from the Kiwi Tyler Woody. Good roll. Has he hit it? Or two par threes and two bogeies for Barbary. It was the 14th that bought him undone undone yesterday. Yet another par three. He’s had a chance to hold so far. It’s a pure putting stroke and a pure result that time. Good save. Very rarely do you see one with a low hands. Andrew Martin up nice and high too. Very high. Lauren Roberts, the boss of the moss. And what another good save. He’s already made one eagle today, the Kiwi. That was at the second. This is for an eagle at night. Couldn’t Could he? He’s going to have a go. He’s going to head to some tour schools at the end of the year. The DP World Tour, David Grahams, Greg Norman as you watch Andrew Martin here. Pretty good place to grow up and play golf, isn’t it? It certainly is. And I still love the uh the stories about Peter Thompson when he won the Open. Well, he won it five times obviously, but he would go and good position off the tea long with his second. Shift it to there and going to give that stroke back. Yeah, they’re not long the par fours around here at Palmerston, but they are very tricky. We’ve seen very tricky shot here for Barbar. He has to fly the concrete or the gravel and land it into the UPS slope to get this anywhere near. There is your shot of the day. No way. Think that come out a little hot than he expected. Wouldn’t James Conan love something similar to happen? His fourth here at eight. I’ll go in. And now he’s hit it in the water here. And he’s missed another couple of short putts and he’s just four back. Fantastic to watch from his left to right and it’ll be quick once it gets past the hole. Hasn’t had the best of speed so far today. Andrew Martin, this looks much better. Come on. Oh, goodness me. It is a highlight reel. This eighth hole. Let’s just keep playing the eighth. Let’s we’ll come back to Andrew Martin in a moment. Jake Mloud, he’s had three birdies, three bogeies to this point. Can he grab a fourth birdie here at nine? Yes, he can. Don’t count him out. He’s nine under, just three back. Beautiful part of the world. The golf is pretty cool as well. Andrew Martin. This is his third at the par five ninth. Look at this shot. You’re kidding me. You’re right. All three of these players are going to make birdie here, aren’t they? Oh, goodness me. I didn’t want to call it too early, but that looked really good running down there. corn. He holds these well all day, but they’ve been for PS. This for birdie. Well, they’ll all feel disappointed cuz these Nick made reference to it earlier. All these three paths fives on the golf course are all getable. You know what? That’s a pretty decent effort when you’re leading the tournament in tough conditions, shooting even par the front nine. Andrew Martin, it’s got to be pretty pleased. And Nathan Barbar’s certainly had a stellar front nine. That’s three under parath for the round. One worse than yesterday, but this is his second and 10, four over on the round. That’s with a pair of birdies as well. And that’s a good shot. I’d like to actually see them move this tee up 30 or 40 m, make it drivable for most of the field. Diaz won it. It was a fantastic place to go to. Lots happening and beautiful weather at this time of the year as we watch Mloud. Oh, beautiful shot. Got that. This goes in. He’s still inside the top 10. Right in the middle. That was never missing. Yes. just knuck it in the right edge. Well, good look here just how pure these greens are. Unfortunately, that putt wasn’t pure. And that’s a drop shot. Yeah, Simon Dyson would have loved that rule 11 years ago. Trying to defend his reputation. And he’s a good fella, Simon Dyson. And oh, James Con, things go from bad to worse here at 10. But, uh, you know, of course, that rule was around then. His career could have taken a completely different complexion. So, is it a good rule or a bad rule? Oh, I I like it. I think it left a little bit too much uh room for debate whether you did or you didn’t tap down a marker though. Greg Norman had the same thing with was it Marco Mirror or Mark McCumber back in the 90s? Mumba. Yeah, I like the rule. That just makes that much difference on hard greens, but possibly on soft greens. Yeah, we’ll hold. Eight to go. Who wants it the most? Wind really dropped down here in the last 15 minutes. It’s got really, really hot out here. Barbie has the length to get this almost to the road that splits this fairway. He has absolutely piped that. Yeah, out of bounds all the way down the right hand side. Wind moving it there. What little there is at the moment, but this has been Mardo’s game plan all day. And this one down the left hand side just perfect. We’ll have a long shot in though. Earlier on the day, 330 m 3-wood. Nothing left on there. That’s a sign of frustration. Good result. Not as far as Nathan’s off the tea. About 6 in off the edge of the green. This is a great look at birdie. Gets him within three. Nick. That could be the start of something. and a share of fourth. Jason Hull now after a way with T-shot on the ninth, he pitched it back to the fairway. This is a wonderful approach on the par five. He’s tumbling that one across that little front mound about 10 ft. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t make the putt. Some 60 odd meters this. He struck it nicely. Oh, unlucky. No zip on that at all. No, well play. Clipped it beautifully, but yeah, just a little pitch into this green. Looks like he was deciding on a couple of clubs. Left one on the ground. Good quality strike middle of the green. Who actually bled that up yesterday and I think it’s an excellent point as Jake Mloud hits his second here at 12. He’s still in this fight. He’s only three back. Oh, and dancing around the hole. He’s already made four birdies today. that for a fifth. More creative and keep engaged in the shot. So that means every shot, not just a chip, not just a drive, but a putt. And he looked fully engaged right then. Hold his attention for a long, long way for his part. Maintain a share of the lead. Rock solid. Just that little bulldog. He’s at your heels nipping away. There’s no question there’s a couple of birdies out there as we look at Healey trying to get to six under par and he does. That’s his fourth birdie of the day the American. He’s the danger man I think outside those top two. There you go. He gets one closer. We surprised Ryan that Barberi didn’t take driver. I was a little bit. This one just needs to carry a little bit. I mean, the way that he’s played so far today, that’s a brilliant shot from Andrew Martin. Way he’s played game plan wise today. I mean, in the the distance that he’s hitting, he nearly would have hit it through the through the There’s a lot of people out here following this last group now, which is great to see. Might have been something moving. That’s a delightful shot from Conan as well. 76 remaining for MTO. Absolutely perfect. Just have to guard from being long. This pin is very close to that back edge. Jesus approach play has been spectacular today. Beautiful touch. Well done Nathan Barberry just to kick in for his par. I know tidy this one up to remain in a share of the lead. Of course, Martin has a rankable birdie putt coming up par five after this coming up. Oh, another beautiful putt from Andrew Martin. He was top 15 at the open in 2022 at the home of golf as well. Now Jake Mloud for birdie to get to 1013. Oh wow. Wow. That’s the That’s the one probably a This was a moment ago. Andrew Martin second at the par five 13th. Oh, you’re joking. This goodness. No. What a shot from our leader. It’s for Birdie. That’s huge. That’s huge. wanted to get away from Andrew Martin. Well done. And again, just a bit of breathing room between themselves and Jake Mloud in third. Anytime you want. I’m still thinking 12, you’ll see. Yeah. Right. Mloud to stay in the ball game up and out of it. And one would think Jake Mloud’s chances may have gone a begging with that. Four back four to play. Not totally out of it. But here’s Jordan D over on the 17th. This for his birdie. Snuck it in the left side. I’m not sure he thought that was going in, but very nice. Gets him within. Well, nine under par is need a miracle on the last, I would say. But another outstanding week for the West Australian. It’s fantastic to watch. This is a big putt right here. Oh, that is a huge moment for Barbi. How good was that camera angle? It just showed the ball just moving off the right edge. That’s what he would have had in his mind. I’m going to move this off the right edge. It’ll slightly go down into the middle. That’s another day for a discussion. Now, let’s see if Andrew Martin can maintain. He can’t. Okay, that was a big shove. Wow. Well, oh my goodness. After those two shots, you didn’t see a one-shot swing happening, but we have co-leaders again with four to play. You can get severely punished. What about this fight back today from the American Patrick Healey? He started at eight under. He’s got the old psycho scorecard going today. He uh he had a double, then a couple of birdies, only he dropped four shots and he’s picked up four on the back n down the right hand side and that is just fine. I made a good positive swing at that. Andrew Martin an up and down day for the New Zealander trying to finish in style. [Music] Oh, that looks fantastic. Go on. Oh, they’re the sorts of birdie. Last few holes for Jason Hong. put himself right in the picture with a birdie at 13 to get it to nine under, but he’s dropped a couple. Would love a couple of birdies to finish. I’d say that’ll give him a chance at 17. Beautifully done to get to eight under par in a share of fourth. I think he’ll hold this. Yep, I was right. But hey, I wouldn’t be swimming with the crocs, but I’d be swimming in some of those like ponds that we seen out there. They look beautiful, crystal clear. this pin on 16 and four from the left. Don’t want to short side yourself left. Anything right. Smart play. Yeah, very commercial. Going to finish up a little bit left of the pin and for the first birdie of the day for him. Not to be. And no, when it’s not going your way, it’s not going your way, is it? But don’t worry, we will see him on Fox Sports all year because he has got plenty of game to keep his ball in that bunker. It’s not a bad spot to be. Well done. As he tidies up, I just wonder whether or not he was thinking maybe if he put it in that bunker, it might have been the best spot, best chance to make up and downs. Martin one stroke lead now with three holes to play. I got kicked off the golf course for wearing those colored socks. Let’s not get back to your black socks. Ean, let it go. Oh, let it go. I got kicked off my black socks on. Only be his seventh birdie of the day. That was a big T-shot of his just short of the green here on 17. This hole’s almost 340 m long, so certainly reachable given the conditions. Probably come out a little bit better than he thought. Not a chance. There we go. There we go. Y Porter finally has called one and James Condrin is extremely happy with that. He’s up and out of that one early. And there’s still life for Barbi. That’s a bogey for Barbary. Back to 10 under par. Andrew Martin dropping back to 11 under park. Conan first to play. I actually think that’s a a really really good point that you make about who wants it the most because when I think back to the era that I grew up watching, the the Normans, the Faldos, the Langers, the Sevies, they all wanted to win. Like second place, third place didn’t mean any. They wanted to win. They wanted number one. and they wanted the trophy and attack. Well, if he doesn’t, it’s out of the game plan that he’s had all day. He’s taken driver. He’s he’s pushed the envelope. He’s he’s pushed it hard and he’s had that plan. So, it would surprise me if he stands up with anything else. 74 m out of the rough. Really has to flirt with that tree if he wants to get it close. Oh, yeah. Well done, Nathan Barberry underneath the hole. Wow. Oh yeah. Beautiful shot. Beautifully controlled. And that’s why he did that to mark that cuz he was bringing that ball in a little bit low and trying to skip it up for yet another birdie. Yeah, important too, Gary. This to move into outright third. Yeah, well done Jake McCloud. Seven birdies on that scorecard today. Looks like he’s going to start this a couple or two out to the right. No. Oh, clutch. Really clutch from Andrew Martin. There’s your 12 under number, Nick O’Harn. And oh, clutch as well. Yes, sir. Love this type of golf. One shot the difference going to the short 18th. This man provided plenty of entertainment this week. Nathan Jordy par putt at 18. It didn’t go his way today unfortunately for the big American but uh hopefully we’ll be seeing plenty more of him because he’s a great character. Good couple of performances and we’ll see see him in the Australian Open and the Australian PJ Championships as Patrick Healey good back on that. This is a must in the fairway. Needs to move right to left. Keep it on this fairway. I’d rather be on the fairway with the second shot. And that’s a beauty right there. Hit some beautiful little chips today. Played another nice one there. Pin high. Well done, Nathan Barberry. Welld deserved. You’re right, Yan. That is welld deserved. He’s played well all week. He has puted well all week in a share of eighth. Story of his day. I don’t know if I want that as the visual before I’m just about to putt to win a golf tournament. all the way. And you can see from that camera angle, it’s no gimme. It’s 3 ft like you said. Yeah. Well done, Andrew Martin. Congratulations. He’s your 2025 Tailor- Made Building Services Northern Territory PGA Champion.
