IKEJA GOLF CLUB LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP 2025.

The latest open of any golf club remains the most glamorous event and as such citing the first lady of former governor of U state Dr. Olu Amosum at the 2025 Aka Golf Club ladies open tournament was not a surprise. Her first duty was very simple. I’m here today to participate in teeing off of the women’s wing of the golf tournament. A tea off described as good by golfers sets the ball rolling for the ladies who are eager to snatch the first prize. The highly competitive tournament saw the ladies deploy different antics in an attempt to come out victorious. At the end, former champion Diana Osmond, who has been absent on the podium for 4 years, returns to winning ways with and the cap 12 and a total gross score of 158, net score of 134. Over two days, she silenced other contenders to lift the first prize trophy. First of all, it’s by the grace of God because truly I’m not really in my best, but I was determined to, you know, actually get back the trophy. And there’s one thing about the game of golf is not everything starts when you mount the tea box. So everything happens on the field. So it is not something you can predict. Sweet feeling and it you know makes me feel like yes I’m back on the game. So it’s just for me to you know practice more and get to play more get to play on and improve my game. She pushed her closest driver Chichi Alamu with and the captain total gross score of 162, net score of 137 and Linda Obz to the second and third positions respectively. Wow. Joy Aonote joy was full as she smiled home with the two gross winner prize having played off in the cap 26. A total gross score of 216 and returned an score of 160. My experience has been perhaps unusual. So yesterday for example I played terribly and today I redeemed myself by playing quite well. I’m very happy to say. Um you know it’s at times like this that uh one gets to show their skills. Okay. But the beauty of golf is no matter how good you are, you could have a wonderful day uh today and then the next day could be bad. But um it’s a game that challenges one to the core. Similarly, Nick Salu, he matched day two net winner with a total net score of 168 with and cap 24. With the same and the cap 24, Ibos Tale Okoube was the San of all eyes as she added the one net winner trophy to Akiti with a total gross score of 201 and a net score of 153. This year’s tournament was well organized, but I’m not even going to expect much anything little in the Ka golf course because the tournaments are always well organized and umh I’m so proud. So kudos to the vice lady captain and our committee. Kudos to the ketchup of club and also the OC and I would like to talk about my experience on the course today. I had some fantastic goals and I crashed all it started raining and then my game went 100 to zero rather but then in all I had fun. It was it was an amazing time. Angela Deua was the best in the veteran category among many other winners in different categories. I’m excited because uh this is my opportunity to handle the ladies championship. comes once in a year and it’s a kind of climax uh for the year uh because uh ladies come out to show their prowess on the on the golf uh course. It’s a competition meant for the the big girls and uh it’s a highly competitive. I’m fulfilled in the sense that uh a lot of uh preparations have been put into this and uh fortunately and to the glory of God everything is turning out very fine. This is a period that you are able to celebrate yourselves as lady golfers. So that’s the essence of having that championship and for you to recognize um the good players amongst yourselves. And then for those that are new in golf, they can aspire to play golf and do it very well. So that is the most important thing. There’s a much improvement in ladies golf. More ladies are interested in playing golf. There’s more awareness of the sports within ladies, especially in the north and in the east. They’re all doing very well. Everybody’s interested in playing the golf. So events like this bring ladies together. Even those that are not able to come to the club regularly, you see them turn up at occasions like this to celebrate themselves. One of the high points of the event was the commissioning of the lamentation shelter by the wife of former governor of U state Dr. Olu Amos where people get ready to conquer the abuse of that river and so shall they be. Amen. The ladies also bonded, socialized during the prize and appreciation dinner for personalities, companies and individuals that have contributed immensely to the growth of the game of golf in Nigeria and beyond.
