WILMINGTON, N.C. – The University of Houston Women’s Golf program saved its best for last, shooting the low team score of the Final Round with a 7-under 281 at the Landfall Tradition on Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars ended the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a score of 874 to finish seventh on the 6,109-yard, par-72 Pete Dye course.
Four Cougars shot even par or lower, led by senior Moa Svedenskiöld’s 68. Fellow senior Natalie Saint Germain added a 70 with senior Alexa Saldaña posting a 71 and junior Maelynn Kim tallying a 72.
Svedenskiöld drained five birdies with only one bogey in the Final Round to rise into a tie for sixth at 2-under 214. The Halmstad, Sweden, recorded her first Top-Five finish of the season and the 10th of her award-winning career.
Starting off No. 9, Svedenskiöld moved into red numbers with a birdie at the par-4 11th hole and added another birdie on No. 17. She added another birdie at No. 1 and buried back-to-back birdies at Nos. 5-6 for her season-best finish.
Saldana finished with three birdies and an eagle in her final round and tied for 14th at 217. Saint Germain birdied four of her first six holes Sunday and finished with a 70 Sunday to tie for 33rd at 221.
Kim tied for 48th with a score of 224 while junior Ellen Yates tied for 85th at 235.
North Carolina captured the team championship with a score of 857 to win by five strokes over UCF. Wake Forest (867), SMU (870), South Carolina (872) and Duke (873) completed the Top Six with Indiana (876), Kentucky (879) and Virginia Tech (889) rounding out the Top 10.
Kent State’s Veronika Kedronova earned medalist honors with a score of 203 while Megan Streicher of North Carolina finished second at 210. Maria Prats-Rigual (North Carolina) and UCF teammates Pimpisa Sisutham and Milan Jurine tied for second at 211.
The Landfall Tradition was the final team event for the Cougars during the fall season. Houston will send three individuals to compete at The Bear Brawl at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas, on Tuesday, in a recent addition to the program’s schedule.

Following the Landfall Tradition, three Cougars will compete as individuals at The Bear Brawl, hosted by Baylor at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas, on Oct. 28.
Redshirt freshman Chiara Brambilla, sophomore Emilia Väistö and freshman Sadie Adams will represent Houston in a recent addition to the Cougars’ schedule. Adams will make her collegiate debut at that event after an award-winning junior career.
Following the winter break, Houston returns to action to begin its spring season at the Collegiate Individual at Guadalajara Country Club in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Jan. 30-31.
