Hello, I currently play as a 9.8 HcP and game Takomo 101 irons that I purchased when I just started last year and wasn’t sure if I would stick with the game or not. They’ve been great (imo) but feel very hard to manipulate for shots shapes.
I purchased a Titleist U500 3i Blade & I hit it better than any other iron in my bag. Further and tighter dispersion. I’m thinking about upgrading new irons but I don’t feel as if my handicap is low enough to support the decision of blades over something like an intermediate step and purchase say Jpx925’s Players distance irons as an in between level.
Any advice or tips will be very appreciated, irons are expensive just wanna try and make the right choice.

For starters the U500 isn’t a blade, it’s a hollow body. This sub will pretty much always recommend buying blades because they “make you better by forcing you to find the sweet spot and giving you immediate feedback”. The reality is that the only reason to play blades in this day and age is an ego boost. The players cavity backs and range of ball options on the market offer just as much workability and distance control as classic butter knives.
