PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Tarleton State Men’s Golf finishes the fall campaign with the FAU Invitational at Panther National Oct. 27-28.
Designed by professional golfers Jack Nicklaus and Justin Thomas, Panther National is regarded by many as one of the top golf courses in the country. Tarleton State will compete against 15 other schools over the next two days.
Sophomore Luis Buech leads the Texans, topping Tarleton State’s player leaderboard in three of the first four tournaments. He collected Tarleton State Men’s Golf’s first-ever Division I hole-in-one in competition at the Texans’ last event at the Oregon State Invitational. Buech obtained the Texans’ first hole-in-one since the program was reinstated in 2022. The historic shot came in the third round on the No. 5 hole on a Par 3 that ranged 148 yards.
Freshman Alvaro Pastor returns to the Texans’ lineup after competing for Spain in the World Amateur Team Championships in Singapore earlier this month. He finished 24th overall with a 72-hole score of 285, good for 3-under-par.
Sophomores Kellen Young and Drew Ironside will also compete for the Texans in Florida this week. Young shot an even par 72 in the third round and compiled a 54-hole score of 224 at the Oregon State Invitational, being the Texans’ second-highest finisher on the player leaderboard. Ironside shot a season-low 18-hole score in the second round of the Oregon State Invitational, collecting a 2-under-par 70.
Freshman Maximilian Bjornstrom rounds out the Texans’ lineup. The first year Texan has competed in every tournament Tarleton State has competed in thus far this season. He compiled a 54-hole score of 226 to tie for 48th at the Oregon State Invitational.
Tee-off begins at 5:30 a.m. CT on Monday, with 36 holes scheduled followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available through Scoreboard powered by Clipd.
