It’s always exciting when a pitcher makes his major league debut. Mets have had that experience already in the last couple of weeks and now it’s Jonah Tong’s turn to take the mound city field for the first time. Jonah to grew up in Markham Ontario to be the first Canadian to start a game on the mountain. The Mets since 1962 more strikeouts than anybody else in the minor leagues in 2025 179 of them in 113 and two thirds innings. But that was Then, this is now for the kid that is Jonah to making his major league debut. Edwards loops one into shallow center Taylor coming on to make the catch. That’s the first out from my experience. That’s the first time you breathe as a starting pitcher in your first start in the major leagues right there with your first out. And Tong’s first pitch, basketball driven in the air left center, not terribly deep angling and Nimmo makes the catch and there are two men away , rookie retires, rookie two out and nobody on Ramirez, the rookie catcher pops his first pitch up and Beatty on the right side of the infield, wait for him to come down, side, retired the quickest of innings for joe Natan. Six pitches 123. And that’s how his big league career begins. How about this? This is the older 22 year old starting in this game. This is Jerry Perez. 14 starts this season. A 344 a with a whip this year. Sub one, he’s been fantastic and francisco takes a low ball four with a leadoff walk. Here’s soto 0 to 4 last night, Lee at 1st 24 steals, he takes off early hicks throw is not in time wasting no time stealing his 25th base of the year now has 25 homers and 25 steals runner in scoring position for SOTO who has been great lately in these spots. Soto drives one to deep right center field back goes Marcy back near the wall and it’s out of here. So with his 33rd home run of the year, give the Mets a quick 2 to 0 lead seven for his last seven with runners in scoring position and the Mets are quickly tonight. Yuri Perez loves that fastball, maybe too much because he threw another one and if SOTO just missed the last one, he ain’t going to miss two in a row. This is top of the zone heater. Bye bye. Reminds me of the long fly ball home run. He hit off Cleveland in the postseason. Almost zack pitch, Alonso is having a great home stand 8 to 17 5 RBIs in the four games breaking ball pulled to third beyond the reach of the diving Norby base hit going into left field for Alonso, a walk a two run homer and now a single for Alonso. Still nobody out and Mark Viento is coming up and that’s inside ball four. So that’s three of the four batters. Perez fell behind 3 to 1 is the second walk of the inning. Here comes Daniel Mosques. He’s got to come out here, try and get a just settled down here at the pitch count. He’s climbing Yuri at 23 pitches. He has yet to record an out and this guy is just what a handful of starts, I guess more than a handful of starts removed from tommy John surgery. This is start number 15, but you still got to factor this in. You know, we 2, 2.5 months removed from his return from TJ. How much do you want to push a first inning? Ok. It gets to 3235 pitches. You start to really worry. There’s Nimmo who’s been great with runners in scoring position lately. 1st and 2nd. Nobody out or be in on the grass at third that’s pulled to the right field corner by Nimmo brandon with a three run homer number 21 for Nimmo. And before and out is recorded, it’s five New York, five batters have come to the plate. They have all scored for Nimmo his 21st home run of the year. The Mets are leading by a score of five to nothing. I mean for Nimmo and the Nets more, more more, but Perez will not learn his lesson to stop throwing fastballs to this team. Brandon has been driving and droves that is eight RBIs on his homestead 76 for the year and the Mets putting up a big number in the first inning. Let’s see the Mets lead the Marlins 5 to 0 but it’s been 25 minutes since Jonah Tong threw a pitch. He’s getting set to face. Otto Lopez right hand hitting shortstop to start the second. He’s grounded fair over the bag at third, rolling down the left field line headed towards the corner. Nimmo is over and Lopez will stop at second. He thought about trying for three but he will be content with a leadoff double. So two out in the runner at third and not Troy Johnston one for three last night. This crowd comes to its feet two and two. The count to set. Here’s a pitch hit weakly back to the mound grabbed by runs towards first underhand to Alonso in time side retired, threw a curveball there and Johnston hit a comebacker and the Marlins after a leadoff double failed to score 5 to 0. Mets bottom two. Zubero came in to get the last out of the first after a Perez was pulled after 39 pitches and a roller inside third, a fair ball going down the left field line. Soto thought about two Then decided I settle for one and he’s got a two out single and that will bring up Pete Alonzo. And now the question for Clayton mccullough will be, how deep can Tyler Zuber get into this ballgame, fly ball right field off the bat of a lot. Pete Alonso goes the other way for his 31st home run. The Mets third home run in the first two innings and it’s 7 to 0, New York Pete at his best the other way on a line. A JT 106 off the bat and this ball jumps hanging, breaking ball, he stays on it, it’s away and he goes with it, man. That was just a gorgeous piece of hitting with two outs, a single and two run homer, a single and a walk and the bat will be startling. Marin you what? It could be the beginning of a very, very long night for Clayton mccullough. The manager from Miami Zuber can’t get out of this inning and go to the third pitcher already and the way the Mets are swinging the bat there, they’re not stopping any time soon that’s lined over second base hit around third comes vent coming to score. NMO goes first to third starting Marte with an RB. I single and the Mets are pouring it on. It’s 8 to 0 in the second inning. Marte sets to run payoff pitch in the dirt ball four that loads him up mccullough. It’s your move up in the bullpen. The Marlins are going to have to run through a lot of bullpen tonight the way this game is shaping up. So Tyrone Taylor the ninth man up in the inning bases loaded. Two out. Taylor pulls one off the bag and down the line. Nimmo is in Marte will score Beaty to third. He’ll stop there a 21 pin cushion double for Tyrone Taylor and it’s 10 to 0 did not pop up in the air to the third baseman Norby and down to the corner, everything is going the Mets way 10 runs here in the second. You already have five runs in in the inning. It was a two run double from Tyrone Taylor to chase Tyler Zuber from the game. And now Valene, you hope can take you quite a bit of ways to Lior and he punches one the other way and that lands for a base hit. Baby is in Taylor scores torn to third Lindor with a two run opposite field, double Mets have seven runs home in the second inning. It’s 12 to nothing. Miami yelling uncle from the dugout. This ball. Not a bad pitch inside but Lindor fought it off down the left field line with two outs, two more runs are going to score. Byo has no answers either. So Wagman on with a single and here is Joey Weimer to looking for his first big league strikeout and he got him curve ball from Tom for his first major league punch out is he gets Joey Weimer and they’ll take that ball out of play another one for the mantelpiece. A real 12 to 6 curveball there from Jonah and the tongs are out there. We go. The fans can’t prepare. So now 2nd and 3rd and 1 out strike three called at the knees outside corner 96 blistering by Marcy down looking two strikeouts in the inning and Augustine Ramirez is coming up and he hits one softly past to but right there is beat the field retired to gets out of another jam. He’s got three scoreless innings under his belt in a 12 lead again. Tong now will have to deal with a runner in scoring position. There’s Wman right hand batter and is ripped through the left side. That’s a base hit and Troy Johnson’s going to get the wave coming in towards the plate is cut off. That’s an RB I knock from Eric Wagman. He’s two for two today against Ton and that is the first run allowed by Jonah Tong in his major league career. So one away runners at 1st and 2nd, that’ll make Tong work a little harder here and there’s a ground ball to first that’s under the glove of Alonso into shallow ryan Wagman will score. Edwards goes to third, comes in to second Marcy safe there. Now it’s 12 to 2. The pitch count is getting up there for to that was a rocket on the ground at Alonso but he opened up, he tried to field it on the forehand. It got right by him. That is a fielder’s choice and an error on Alonso Edwards at third Marcy at second two out. And here’s Otto Lopez who doubled off of to broken bat, fly ball into center field that’s going to get down for a base hit, that’s going to play two more. And now it’s a 12 4 game second hit of the ball game for Otto Lopez is 62nd and 63rd runs batted the end of the season. Carlos Mendoza wants to, to be able to qualify for a win here and it’s still an eight run lead at 12 to 4. They’re rapid for him in the Mets dugout. They want him to finish this inning. So here is Liam Hicks. Now left hand better has struck out five tonight. Make it six, finishes off the Marlins in the top of the fifth Hicks puts his hands to his head. He thought the pitch was down but to gets his sixth strikeout on probably his final pitch of the night and he leaves the mound persevering through a lot tonight. So here is Nimmo three run homer in the first walked fouled to third. Nimmo pulls that one toward the corner and that ball is off the home run, second home run of the night for Brandon Nemo, his 22nd of the year. Nimmo goes and it’s 13 to 4. That was pretty awesome for brandon Nimmo down the line stayed straight and usually most guys would kind of walk their way up the line. Take a look at this, but because it’s Nimmo, he goes flying out of the box out to first base and by the time it dinged up the orange pole, he was a couple of feet short of first base, but got a good look at that thing. Sail out of here and stay on the line. Eighth inning in Queens 13, 4 minutes. Castillo back out for the eighth. Wagman is at second. Johnson is at third one away here in the eighth. That’s by nine, but there might be a little stirring out there in that New York bullpen. We tomahawks the ball out to right center field pretty deep. Juan Soto is out of the game. New right fielder is back. Tyrone Taylor makes the grab his throw goes to third base Swagman slides in there and Johnston comes in to score. That is a sacrifice fly for Joey. We and it’s 13 to 5 in the top of the eighth. Javier Sanoja coming to the ball game. He will throw this eighth inning tries to side arm delivery and Vientos clubs one out to left center and that’s out of here. Vientos gets a home run off the position player, his seventh home run in the last 11 games, his 14th of the year and the Mets fifth home run tonight, it’s 14 to 5 and by the way for Javier. So Noah, this is the seventh game he’s pitched in this year and the Mets have the bases loaded. Nobody out. Tyrone Taylor, who is now the right fielder in this game that’s pulled down the line and Taylor’s got himself. Another extra base hit. Nimble is in Mary Will jog home goes to 3rd, 2nd 2 run double of the game for Taylor and it’s 16 to 5. This is getting a little Mimos also scored four runs. I was wondering, you know, I like tonight, everybody’s happy in this building seeing what they’ve seen with Tong and the offense. But usually people start to go. Ok. That’s, that’s quite enough, but everyone’s hanging in there. Here’s to looking for his first hit and he hits one high in the air deep to left field towards the corner down the line and it hits the pole. It’s a home run torn now ensures that every Met in the starting lineup has had at least one hit and it’s the second Mets home run hit off a foul pole in this game. The Mets are fattening up against Javier so they already have a five run and a seven run inning and now they have six runs home in this, well, guess what? It’s a Savannah Bananas inning because now Luis Torrens has taken over on the mound for the Mets who lead the Marlins 19 to 5. And so with one man out Lopez , the batter here’s a fly ball to deep left field and this is gone. O Lopez with a two run home run to make it 19 to 7 now. And that is his fourth hit of the ball game and it’s the first time in his major league career. He’s got four hits in a game. It doesn’t matter who you did it off of. Guarantee you that tomorrow Auto Lopez won’t care who he hit that over and off. So that will bring up Liam Hicks who is zero for four and there’s a fly ball deep to right field. The Marlins have gone back to back. You’ve got three here in the ninth. It’s 19 8 and do all count only in New York. They’re up 19 to 8 and they are booing because they gave up three runs here. Conor Norby lines, one over the outstretched glove of Beaty at second. That’s into center for a base hit. I’m from a different generation. But does anybody find this entertaining at this point? 21 that’s lifted in the right field pretty deep. Taylor’s going back, he leaps, he’s not going to get it. That’s off the wall. It’s still rolling around nor he’s going to score all the way from first Troy Johnson is on his way to third with an RB I triple and now it’s 19 to 9 and there’s some newer going but toy Johnston Gary just got himself a triple. Ryan ST comes in to try and get the final two outs. Had to clean up this mess here in the top of the ninth. Jonah to one out away from his first big league win two and two to Joey Weimer and he struck him out and that will do it, Jonah to gets a victory in his first major league start. The Mets score more runs than they’ve ever scored in a home game in their 64 year history. And they’ve even up the series with the Marlins as they beat Miami 19 to 9.

Ganar en casa es la mejor promoción
Mets De Nueva York Power!. Fuera Putin!. 🇺🇸🇲🇽🇻🇪🇨🇴🚔
A CIRCUS the last 2 innings.🤡
The pitcher is throwing to the middle. That's why they give him the bat.
Win?this a clownish game!no clownish games in playoffs!comprende..thisis batting practice FEST!
The best defense is a good offense. 😂
I've heard all the, "That's for T-ball" comments. The MLB needs the "Skunk" rule. What's the point in making the winning team waste its bullpen?
Who is interested in 12-0 game in the second inning?summer camp kids?#tomorrowthey lose 2,-1
I was sitting in right field yesterday n caught two balls in one game I went to over 100 games and never got a ball … i got Pete's home run ball if only it was the one that beat Darrell record !!!
13:44 Luis Torrens should've taken the mound wearing stilts. Now that would've been a Savannah Bananas inning 😂🍌🙉
The Mets and Yankees have found their mojo.
This is making my childhood comeback his pitching motion reminds me of tim lincecum
I've never seen Torrens throw that slow. Lol
Lincecum upgrade
Never seen a fifteen minute mlb highlight video even when a team scores 20 runs and that didn’t even happen
bendiciones para ese jovencito seve que tiene muchos talentos
Porque el juego no lo ponen en vivo aqui!!
リンスカムみたいなフォームだ
Is Jonah really Toisan? You dont see a lot of kids from that country producing a lot of pro athletes. Proud to see a person live their dream and make it to the show. I am toison so this is exciting to see.
TONG!!! Mon Dieu! To be so young, go out there and do his thang in front of tens of thousands of people, then get the win for his team is so special. Très magnifique! I’m here for it.🥰🍁😘
The Kid looks full of confidence. 🤗
EXCELLENT DEBUT TONG!!!!! ⚾️💪🙂🧡💙🔥2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣9️⃣2️⃣7️⃣2️⃣1️⃣🐻❄🐐🍎🗽💯 #LFGM
Juan Soto is the best player
Never should have brought Torrens (who is a fine catcher) in to pitch.
Great Mets win. Tong was great on his first outing. Mendoza was a bonehead for letting Torrens pitch.
It was my first time at Citi field for a @nymets game. It’s was fire 🔥 From the blow out to the fight that happened in the side of the stadium to the delicious $7 hotdogs amazing experience.
anyone else notice first base ump shake Tongs hand after the first?
Getting pounded again by the fish lmao
Me what is a savana bananas moment till y see the pitcher pitch😂

We better and I HOPE DO NOT LET POLAR BEAR GO …..Sign him for Life giving Ev1 else huge Contracts Pete deserves it ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Our hoisan doi!!! Iykyk
the way brandon nimmo swings makes me think that mathematically, he is a baseball genius
Mets trading deadline moves were 4 outright losses, bad players, gave up lots of minor league players for nothing
Very similar to Woo
“Great game, my team!”
I was at this game last night with my friend. We had a ton of fun. Keep going strong Mets!!
I love you Juan Soto #22 … Let's Go New York Mets Baseball 💙🧡⚾🇺🇲✝️
Is it me or the commentary in the very beginning of the highlights are AI
14:31 what an idiot, we were booing because we wanted the game to end, u shouldn’t be able to stat pad when ur down 15
Braves fan here, Mets new pitcher has a cool delivery remind’s me of Tim L. That is all
I was there what a game
I don't care what the score is…..putting in position players to pitch is grossly unprofessional.
