Take your grip with the club pointing straight down at the floor and the toe out in front of you. From there, just try and straighten the club face to wherever the target would be, which would be about there. Look what’s happened to my hands. They’ve gone higher and they’ve gone forwards. Now, hold the club with the face straight up at the sky, toe pointing out to the right, but take your normal grip. Now, try and square the face back towards straight in front of you, which would be kind of about there. Look what’s happened to my hands. The club has to go back. The reason this is important is if you’re someone who sees shots where you’re in impact and you’re up here and this is frosting forward or you’re seeing someone that’s going kind of this way, you record your swing or your mate and they’re kind of flicking it forward. Did you see how the grip when I put into extremes encourage those positions? And if you did it, they would have encouraged those positions without you even knowing, which is what’s happening in the golf swing. Which is why having the club through this part of your palm, not up here. Having the thumb down the right of center and seeing up to three-ish knuckles on the lead hand, right hand through fingers then wrapping on top is so important. Your impact positions that you see often can be dialed back to a root cause. If you’re not really focusing on your grip enough, there’s a good chance it might be in there. You’re very welcome.
