Pap Perez here. I got the force of match of Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson against Jinny Kazuma, and Kevin Na. I’m going to find out what happens out there. All right, buddy. Here we go. Yeah, I think so. They just held in maybe the first cut. sliding right be probably in the rough. I don’t think Jenny can Jenny can’t go over that tree, but it’s not a very difficult shot. He’s got a decent lie. He’s just got to miss that one little hanging branch right there. Get up. That’s not a bad spot. Ke can chip it in from there. Better than long. Long is fast putt. Ball’s sitting up perfect. Should have no problem. Going to have to land this on about 3, four paces just past that front edge. Should have no problem stopping it. It’s uphill. Greens are probably really soft after all that rain the last two days. And just flew it too far. Very easy chip here for Kevin. Yeah. Shot underneath the hole. Matches like this, you’re putting to make them. We don’t really have to worry about the next putt. [Music] Good putt. All right. No blood. You can fly this three short. Should be perfect. She got no back spin. Took it low. She was hitting the stop. Yeah. Really good. sent her a little wet shot. He’s got a little bank to the right, but I don’t think you’re going to rely on that. Take dead aim. There’s a false front about seven on. She’ll land pretty soft into that wind. Went up high with it. You can fly on this three short. Should be perfect. Should have no backspin. [Applause] Ah, that too hard. All right, one zero iron heads on to the third. Hits it so solid and square. Pter was saying how much faster he thought that last putt was. It’s also a difficult match for these guys, too, because no one has any course knowledge. No one’s ever played here before. So, unfortunately, learning the course as you’re playing a match for the first time. Oh, low. That will not be conceded. [Applause] Fourth hole. 522 on the card. They’ve got the tee up about about 22. It’s about 500, I’d say. Yeah, just right side of the fairway. [Applause] It’s going to be a soft bounce. Yeah, got it. Perfect. Such a hard hit here. That’s exactly what we did. I don’t know if he overcut it though. I might catch that left edge. Kick it right. Ah, short. This four possibly could win here. No reason for a mistake. Let them make it. Wherever he went right at the four, right in the middle. Yep. Good safe play. Yeah, he’s got a little just too far. But that’s a good shot. Great shot. A difficult little four-footer though. I don’t think the boys are going to give him that one. No chance. Nope. Not today. Not when you’re two down. You don’t give those. See if he walks. So, I don’t think you’d be walking this in too early. It was a half step. It was a happy part five here. Short as hole, but tricky off the tea. Started way right of it. But a fairway over there. Yeah, that left hazard definitely in play for him. Look like he’s even going right of that tree. will be first. I got about 210 front, 220 hole water about only about 16 paces right at that pin. Got it deep through the green but back in that rough buried after seeing the shot. He can play just right from the middle of the green. Anyone on this green will be good, especially with Kevin putting. So, he’s trying to cut it off that draw a lie. This looks great. Looks like he’s looking about six paces in front of him. It’s about where it landed. Oh, it’s not going to give Kevin a read, but he’s also only halfway. What’s the advantage in Iron Heads again? Oh, ran about a little bit. I didn’t see it being that fast. That is definitely not what he was looking for. Ah, P. That should be conceded, but I’m not playing. Yeah, big putt. Three up through five. Yikes. All right, six hole here. They moved the tea up, which make the fairway a little bit wider. So a little right. This might Oh, this has got stress. Could be the hazard. Obviously at this point going right is huge mistake. And this is he did go down that side. He’s going to chip down the eight iron. Very accessible pin. Very easy pin. Fade just right of it. Pretty good. Good chance getting back here. He’s going to need every absolute every ounce of strength he’s got to get this. Oh yeah, he came out hot. That is really good out of there. Actually amazing to be honest with you. Like the iron heads come out of here with a tie somehow. They’ve stolen the one here cuz they got really lucky off the tea to even have a shot. Four is in. He’s got to get on that line. First 5T out. Yeah, just dove on him. All right. Got to keep his foot down. Three up through six. He knows how much experience is on the other side of that ball. Boy, he’s got to dig deep here. Oh, it’s leaking right, too. Definitely missed the fairway. Could be even farther than that. I just trying to advance as far as he can. He doesn’t have any idea how far it’s really going to go, but this lie is incredible. Right down the center. Split the line. He knows his mind though he’s got to they got to get this up and down. Kevin’s in a very good spot to make four. He cannot get four down through seven holes here. Kevin cuz he’s not one of the longest hitters in the game. He’s relied on this club his whole career to have the success he’s had. Oh, he chunked it just flat out. Got a little lucky. He got lucky to get it to there. Oh yeah, big putt right there. He’s done that time and time again in match play. Right in the center, too. Such a different mindset when it’s a make or miss situation where, you know, you know, you’re going to the eighth hole, but it doesn’t matter. Nah. All right. What a turn of events that was. That is some win right there. Miss that tree. Oh, hit the cart path right in the middle of the fairway. That’s That is unreal. That is the kind of breaks you need. Match point. Low little slider. This is ugly. And right try to muster a seven out of there. About as even as Ian’s Oh, it’s short. Yeah, short. gets it just right at that big eight and feed right to it. That’s what he’s done. This looks great. I don’t know if he’s looking to bump it into the hill first and let it trickle or actually fly it onto the green. Yeah. All right, we’re going to nine. I guarantee it. Yep. And it’ll be an uphill putt kind of down which you don’t get a lot of spin and it’s wet. He’s got to be playing this low to run. That’s what he’s done. Came out a little right though. It’s a huge moment for them to get back to even. Oh, firm pace though. Just hit a little too hard. And again, putt will not be given from 3 ft. Making a big Swede work this morning. All right. Went up with it. Shouldn’t have too much spin. It’s a little too far right though. That is not a good shot at all with the sand wedge. Kevin will be first. It’s not that hard of a putt. It’s just obviously twice as long as he was hoping for. and off the green. All right, so we’ll get Oh my god, what a dagger that could be right there. Good thing the pins there. That would have been by 5t. Wow. Maybe it will help his men his mental state if he just knows he has to make it. All right, back to three up. Five to play for the Iron Heads. I don’t know. Got a touchdown sign. I’m assuming that’s fairway. Suggest in dire need of at least a four, if not a three on this hole. Try to lift this up over that tree. Oh man, he did too. What a shot. Drift just a little bit left, but a hit too much ball. Well, he’s trying to play the Yeah, that’s about as good as he’s gonna do. Unfortunately, being so good from this distance, but again, his partner’s already missed one short. So, he’s got to get this in tight or else they will not give it to him. Phenomenal. Phenomenal touch. I mean, it’s pretty much a mustake. There’s no other way around it cuz you don’t want to give these guys another hold back. There’s only two up with four to play. Puted to make it. God, what a putt. Holy smokes. What a putt. Wow, that shows some stones right there. That is playing. Iron Heads in full control here. Three up, four to play. Wow. That’s pretty good. That’s a very unlikely miss by the post, man. 482. Be hard to hit five without to the right. This is going right, but it might just stay inside that bunker. It’s fine. Got the slice gone. This is a big banana be that rough in the tree. This got a lot of stress here. what they didn’t need on this hole. It came out low and it is nice. If it runs to the right, it’s going to be on the green. That’s a pretty good spot though. Shot. Shot. Got him right. We need to release up that hill. I don’t know. Should come down. It’s over. All right. Well, there you have it. I mean, phenomenal playing by the Iron Heads. Big match today. We’ve got Majestics versus Iron Heads. For this first match, Lee Westwood versus Danny Lee here at the Cardinals at St. John’s. All right, good drives. Both of the guys absolutely ripped it down the first. First hole was a fairly short par four. Nice little opener. Danny Lee’s just got a little probably 50 yard pitch coming up. It’s online. Oh, it’s a bit short though. Just missed the green short. Westwood’s just five or six yards further on. And Westwood’s been playing some incredible golf recently. Both guys have slightly chunk that second shot, leaving it a touch short early in the morning here. So, it’s Lee Westwood to go first. Again, when I played here a couple of weeks ago, the greens, this one actually caught me out a little bit. It was very fast. That’s rolled quite a bit past. Okay, Danny Lee. This is to win the hole. He would have learned a lot from Westwood’s port. That’s nice. So, obviously is match play this match, so that’ll probably be conceded. Okay, Lee Westwood has this to half the hole. He’s got it. Great recovery. Okay, after the first hole matches tied at all square, we move on to the second par for just running the opposite way. There’s a ditch that’s never going to be in play for these guys. It’s a ditch kind of running across the fairway at only about 150 yards. Those guys, it’s very similar length to the first just running the opposite way. They’ve both gone right. It’s very similar. They’re playing matching golf here. So Danny’s going to have about 70 yard pitch from here. That’s going to have to go. It’s going to have to go. It’s hit the bank and gone back into the bunker. Wonder what Lee’s going to do here now after seeing Danny go in the bunker. Yeah, it’s easily over the bunker. He’s playing a bit more conservatively there. made sure he got on the green. Oh, it’s a great shot. Wow. Really good bunker shot. Lee Westwood got again about a 15 footer for birdie here on two. He’s got I thought he had it. It’s going to be pretty much dead straight up the hill for par into half the hole. All square after two. Okay, third hole, par three. So, yeah, pinned right in the middle again. Very, very little wind out here today. Anything can happen in this game. He’s gone right the number three behind the green. It’s actually faded a little bit into the into the breeze. It’s perfect for distance, but it’s going to leave himself quite a tricky putt from the right side of the green. Danny, that’s slightly left the pin, but actually fading back quite nicely up against the wind. Oh, just a bit deep. It’s on the green. Both got puts for birdies. Well, he’s put in first. Like I say, got a lot of slope to go across here. A little bit slower. Little bit slower than the first two greens. Really moved a lot that Danny’s got a a put coming straight down the hill here. I don’t think there’s going to be a lot of right to left breaking it. Wow, that was fast. They are quite literally next to each other. It’s going to be Danny Lee to play first though. Got five or six footers here for par on the third hole. Yeah, good put. Very good put from Danny Lee. Piles the pressure back on Lee Westwood here. I don’t think there’s a lot of break in this. It’s just going to be straight up the hill. Yeah. And it drops. Finds the left side of the hole. Drops in for two pars. Okay. Three holes complete between Lee Westwood and Danny Lee in this epic jewel. So far, every hole has been halved in pars. The match is all square through three. Fourth hole. Par four. Oh yeah. Split the fairway. Absolutely. Split it in half. really wide fairway here on four. You need a big drive down here cuz like say it’s going to be a long iron into the green. Be interesting to see which one’s longest there because both of them hit that really well and they’re pretty much dead center lined down on the fourth airway. Lead westward to go first. Pins on the left. No, it looks really good. It’s bang on line. Oh, that’s a great shot. It does look good as well. Stay in the air. Oh, wow. Great shot. Going to be quite similar. One’s just short of the pin, one’s just past the pin. Looking good. Right. Good roll. Jeez. Down there. Just just missing the cup by an inch just to part the hole and stay all square through four. Yeah, easily done. Okay, fifth hole. First of the par fives here at the Cardinal St. John’s. I say it’s not a super long par five. We’re just at 527 yards for these guys. Um, green is protected by water on the right, little stream that kind of runs left and right of the green, but there is also an entrance point where there is no water. Ideally, you want to fade it just into that right side of the fairway. Yep. Yeah, really good ball. Danny’s gone with driver and absolutely smashed it. both perfectly in the fairway. After Westwood hit threewood, I think he’s comfortably going to be able to hit a long iron into this green. Oh, this looks really good. Travel a bit. Oh, that’s a great golf shot. Danny’s gone for an aggressive line. Oh, just short the green. Nice leave. The eagle gave it a chance. Just rolled it past that gimme range. Okay. Really nice looking eagle here for Westwood is to go one up. Beautiful pace. Didn’t break anywhere near as much. Danny first for birdie. So Danny Lee knocked it in for birdie comfortably. Lee again about two or three footer for birdie himself to tie the hole through five. Yep. Easily done. Okay. Six hole just under 500 yard par four. Slightly down the right side. I think it’s going to miss fairway. It might have might have caught right side of the fairway if it landed soft. Yeah, that’s perfect. Straight in the middle. Nice little big high fade there from Danny Lee. Middle of the fairway. Actually couldn’t weirdly couldn’t see both of them two down, but in I know Danny’s in the fairway. Lee again touch and go. Yeah, safely on pin high right. Took no time over that at all. Couple of quick waggles of the club and off he went. Weirdly there the wind just picked up a little bit. Yeah, just came out a bit hot out of that rough. I’ve now got Angus with me who’s now going to say something to get us both cancelled. Nice little lag put from West B. It’s just fallen under. Look at this. Very good. He’s hitting some great putts from that range. Okay, six holes played in this match between Lee Westwood and Danny Lee so far. All square. Every single hole has been tied in pars. Oh, no. Birded. They both birded six actually. So through both birded five. So through six match or square. Yeah, good ball. Yeah, should be good. Maybe left side of the fairway. That’s a little bit long and a little bit left. Okay, Danny Lee. This looks good. Go a bit. Oh, he’s pulled it up short. He’s pulled it up short. Let’s go with the golf club as he finishes there. He’s just going to be off the green. putting from the front. Nice put from Danny and the put has been conceded. Okay, Westwood to win the hole with the birdie here. Oh, just short. We move on to the eighth. Yeah, nice shot to the corner. Yeah, two good T- shots. Oh, Danny Lee’s hit a big long pull here. That is going to be a ridiculous put from there. Get down a bit. Yeah. Yeah. Nice job. Good shot. Right now as we speak, Lee Westwood’s definitely got the advantage because Danny Lee is honestly it’s going to be such a difficult two put from where he is. And I think Lee’s put it really nicely pin high just to the left of the pin. We could have a we could have a first leader in this match on this hole. Okay, Danny’s hit a nice put there, but honestly that is such a tough put from there. He’s rolled it four or five feet past. It was always going to be super super quick. And again, I thought Lee Westwood was going to be a little bit more pin high. He’s just on the short side, which means he’s got this awkward little hump to get over. Just missed. Had a lot of break at the end. Been conceded. Lee Westwards in for par. Danny Lee in for par. Whole harved on the eighth. Nothing in this match at all. Yeah, nice shot. Yeah. Okay. Both on the green. Both have again quite tricky putts. Oh, Danny’s gone first. He’s left that a little bit short. Two important par puts here on number nine. Yeah, well done, Lee. Not missed many of them today. He’s asked a question from Danny. Similar length put pretty much straight up the hill. Yep. Well done. Two puts. Okay. Nine holes complete. Match all square between Lee Westwood and Danny Lee. There is nothing separating this epic battle. Yeah, great drive. cross. Might need to get down from Danny Lee. Oh yeah, might be in a bit of trouble. Okay, Danny Lee’s hit a second shot. Yeah, really good recovery on the green. Pin high. Sit. Sit. Came out hot out that rough. It’s looking good. They’re all just rolling past to that kind of like slightly awkward three or four feet where it’s not really gimme range. It’s a great chip. Really nice chip. That should be conceded. That’s a pickup for Lee Westwood. Danny’s got this. I say three or four footer for par to have the hole and to continue this match being all square. Yeah, nicely done. Yeah, match is still all square here in this first group through 10. Yeah, another nice pin high shot from Lee Westwood. Okay, first first wide shot there in this match. Daniel Lee’s pushed it on this par three 11th hole. It’s going to have to sit. It’s going to have to sit. It’s really honestly really tough out that rough. Okay, Lee’s pointing for birdie here from the middle of the green. A very nice good birdie there from Lee. You again fairway here is a real premium off this tea. So Lee Westwood’s hit smack bang in the middle of the fairway just over this little hill. Oh, Danny Lee’s gone left. Oh, hit the tree. I’ve not seen it down, but it caught a tree up on the left. This is not going to be ideal. It caught this tree and dropped down. It’s actually sat Okay. This would be my guess. We’ll probably play the hardest hole this week is my is my guess. Oh, it’s a great shot. Sit, sit, sit, sit, sit. Yeah, pretty good from there. A bit of mud on that. Wow, that was close. Conceded for par. Danny Lee has this put from just off the green for par. I’ve just had a look down and it’s slightly uphill right to left. Okay, quick score update through 12 holes. Lee Westwood has just won the last two. He is now two up through 12. Okay, 13th hole, par four, 427 yards. Blind T-shot. There’s a chimney stack up at the top there, which is part of the clubhouse/ hotel. You want to be straight at that with driver. It’s gone left. I didn’t see where it came down. Might just be in a spot of trouble that. Yeah, great drive. Danny’s absolutely pipe one. So Lee is in left rough. He looks like he’s in a really juicy thick lie. He’s had to chop it out. That just shows how thick this rough is. Looks good. Little tiny bit short again. Just a touch. Just a touch. It’s on the green, but it’s I know it’s not super close. Go. Oh, stop so quick. If he misses this, Ian Ian, he’s in the other group. Lee Westward’s got a similar put for par. Not at it. He’s not hit it. So, Danny’s in for par. This is the power for Lee Westwood to have the hole and stay two up through 13. Back to one up. Really needs a good T- shot. You’ve got to absolutely rifle one down here. A great drive. Really great drive. Winding on this hole where Danny’s hit it to get on the green. And if he can on the left side of the green. That was an unbelievable golf shot. Right. Lee Westwood to retaliate. It’s really good. Oh, great shots. Both of these guys have absolutely middle greened it from probably Danny was probably 280s 290 out. Lee Westwood was probably about 270 280 out and they’ve both absolutely stepped up and hit worldies. That was that was class. That was clutch. This for the greatest up and down with driver I’ve ever seen. Oh wow. have the hole in eagles. Jeez. Wow. Since I last updated you, a lot’s changed. Danny Lee has just won the last two holes. So, after 14, the match is all square. And Danny Lee made the most incredible eagle on 14 after hitting driver off the deck from about 290. But it’s about 20 feet. Hold the eagle put. Match is all square. Okay. Party hole 15th par three. And leaves wasting no time after his eagle. Yeah. Pin high just left of the hole. Great shot. Westwood to put first for birdie down the hill. He’s got it. He’s got it. He’s got the birdie. Okay. Can Danny Lee retaliate with a birdie of his own? 10 12 feet away. Slight left to right. Oh, he’s got it. He’s got it. Whole halved in birdies. Wow. Okay. All square. through 15. We head to 16. Three holes to play. It’s an aggressive line, but if it’s long enough, it should be good. Yeah, perfect t-shot. Really nice. Danny Lee’s taken a relief from the portaloo which to be honest with him with tonis give him a huge lucky break because he’s he’s managed to drop it in an area that he now has full sight of the pin a fairway wood though long way out it’s looking good it’s looking very good oh just a bit Got Lee Westwood here on the right side of the fairway in a great spot. He has leaked it into the bunker on the right hand side right now. Danny might have a slightly easier up and down opportunity. Lee Westwood that is won’t be happy with that shot. Tough from down there. Not easy to get that one close. Just misses on the high side. For the first time in this match, this is for Danny Lee to go one up. He’s missed it. Match stays all square through 16. Danny Lee is devastated. He’s missed that put. On to 17. A par four. Slight dog leg to the right. Don’t need a lot of firepower off this te. Great drives. Great drives. Aggressive line. Danny Lee is going to be pulling the trigger. He’s about 70 yards out, if that. Looks good. Spin. Spin. It’s a little bit deep. There’s room in there. Okay, birdie puts here on 17. Both very very very similar distances. Okay, Danny Lee to put first. Probably just over 15 to 20 ft. 15 20 foot away. It’s just just moved off. Just broke at the last couple of feet short of the hole. So Danny’s in for par. Put for Lee Westwood to go one up with one to play. He’s got it. He’s got it. Wow. We’ll have learned a lot from Danny’s put there. And he drained it for birdie to go one up with one two play. 18th. It’s all coming down to this 18th hole is a par4. 390 yards. Very, very tight. I can’t speak too loud. I’m right behind the tea box. A nice tea ball. Maybe, maybe, maybe in left rough. It just had a little bit of draw on it that moved it left. Okay, Danny Lee. Danny Lee going with a long iron here off the tea. Yep. Really nice. Great T- shot. Great T- shot. Middle of the fairway. Looks good. Oh yeah, very nice. Very nice. 12 15 feet up the hill for birdie from Danny Lee. This could be a huge moment in this match. He’s taken free relief. It might be hard to see on the on the feed, but that metal post, which isn’t part of the golf course. It’s a man-made obstacle. It was in his way. Whether he’d hit it or not, who knows? But it was in his way. So, as the rules of golf, he does get free relief from that. Okay, Danny. Birdie put this. This has to drop. Oh, it hit the hole. It literally hit the hole, but did not drop. I mean, it was going at some pace, but it did not drop. this put for Lee. He’s got basically two puts for it to win the match. That’s it. Lee Westwood wins the match. [Applause] All right guys, thanks for watching. Um, that was an incredible jewel for 10 holes. It was a bit of a pillow fight and then suddenly the fireworks kicked in. Birdies on 11 for Westwood. He went two up through through those 11 and 12 and then Danny Lee came back with an incredible eagle on the 14th hole after hitting driver off the deck around the tree. Unbelievable. One of the best shots I’ve ever seen live ever and it came down Westwood Birdie 17. It came down to the last hole uh where Westwood in the end had two putts to win the hole, win the match.
