Bisons golf had a historic performance at the Canada West Championships this week, finishing third overall as a team. It’s the best finish for the school since the event was acknowledged at the conference level in 2019. Rory Neill’s second place result was the best individual finish ever for a Bison.
Neill shot a 64 on day two to place second. His score was the lowest of anyone at the tournament during the event. Overall, he shot 135, -9 total, Derek Benson, the leader after day one, also finished in the top ten, shooting -7 and 137 overall for a seventh place finish.
Neill was named a First Team All-Star and Benson was named to the Second Team. It’s the first time two Bisons have earned conference all-star nods at the event.
Manitoba’s group of Neill, Benson, Ryan Blair, Ethan Portey and Eric Prokopowich shot eight under as a team on day one, and 13 under on day two for an overall score of 555.
