Ever since US President Donald Trump returned to the White House, speculations have been rife about his health, especially the dark bruise on his right hand. Now, a series of images posted by his granddaughter has revealed how long the President has had the discolouration on his arm.

The 18-year-old eldest granddaughter of Trump took to Instagram on Wednesday to post a series of pictures to commemorate the anniversary of her YouTube journey. “One year ago, I started my YouTube channel not knowing what to expect… and it’s turned into something so special,” Kai Trump wrote.

Interestingly, in one of the images, Kai is seen with Trump, and the President is  seen sporting a thick makeup to cover the bruise. The image was taken on the  day of the results at the watch party hosted by Trump at Mar-a-Lago, proving that the President had the bruise much before he took over the office.

The bruise came to public attention soon after Trump was elected, and the President himself addressed the issue in an interview with TIME Magazine, stating it was from shaking hands with thousands of people.

The White House, too, came up with the same explanation, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt telling NBC News at the time that the president “has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day.”

The White House also published a memo from Trump’s physician Sean Barbarella, stating that the bruising was “consistent with minor soft tissue  irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.” “This is a well-known and benign side effect of aspirin therapy,” Barbarella claimed.
