Yeah, he is sitting perfect there for sure. Retif Gusen now the other South African in the Hall of Fame. Another shot right at the flag. Gusen does that a lot. Wow. Go back to the eighth and Stewart sink. Well, he still hoist his irons in the air higher than anybody. And that is such an advantage. And look at this shot by Stewart sink up to the 10th on El Cabrera. This is his third. You going to talk about some clever hands. Oh my goodness. Some of the hit shots. I mean that’s all he does. Oh well. Now see that’s just such a delicate little shot. Not a difficult shot. It’s all about the contact, the catch. Little sizzle on that one, guys. Even in the middle of the fairway, struggling at 10 a bit. Back to nine. Minez, what we’ve seen all season, Zing, just such good hands and control, you know. We’re back to the 12th. Dead center for sink. Oh, here it comes back. Oh, this could get really close. Peanut butter and jelly there for sink. Even for the big fella, that is so good. I’m telling you, he is one of the greatest that’s ever done it. Oh, I don’t know. Gary Player now sounded like he did it 100 in a row. Here’s Bujorn. This will spin. Oh, really nice shot from 60 yards. A lot of green to work with. That was a beautiful shot. Go to 15. Had a little color change there in the leaves. Fall is in the air here in Virginia. Another green. Yes. Have to kind of skirt that tree. Yeah, that tree’s got a lean to it like all the trees in Florida after the hurricanes last year. What a good shot right at the flag and maybe the closest we’ve seen. That is something else. This his third at the 18 trying to get this up and down post six under. Oh, you’re just about one better. Well, you know, you can’t play that shot unless you’re confidence is sky high. Kind of got up against the crease. So, not a very good lie. Very steep slope right in front of him and not much green to work with. Other than that, pretty easy. He pulled it off. Oh my goodness. Well, awkward spot crossbanker. Look at this shot. Look at this shot. Oh my goodness. That’s so good. You know, they’re making these 25, 35 yd bunker shots look so easy. Depends on what type of shot he wants to play. Said earlier, it’s all about speed for these great players. There you go. Back here at the ninth country club of Virginia, James River, course Mike Weir went off a couple of bogeies in a row trying to finish things off with a birdie. There we go. That’s a good shot. You know, he started out the year with high hopes. He won the first tournament of the year after losing the Charles Schwab Cup there at the end of last year. And he’s come out motivated and well, what a good shot. That’s what uh Jimenez has been able to do all season long right there. He never gives up. This will be just his seventh overpar round of the season in 63 rounds. That’s a good shot. You know, you can see with the look to the left here, nobody wants to miss left on 18 today. All the players have been out to the right somewhere. That’s great. This is just going to be the second overpar opening round of his season. Alker, there it is. Dead center finishing off in style. Get good two putt birdie to close. Well, he pulled himself together after being four over through eight holes, I think. And uh it’s just a testament to his character. kind of his personality as a player just kind of unflapable for this telecast about how we used to pay $3 for a bucket of balls on the driving range at Riviera. I think Langanger’s one of the few guys out here that still remembers that. Looks pretty good. Look at him go. Wow, that distance just seems to always feel comfortable when he’s got that 20 to 30 ft. And Langanger with the two at the eight. Still no bogeies for the week. Here’s Langanger. R5 up ahead. Is that any good? Is that it pretty good? I think it’s pretty obvious when the greats play their best, they hit shots like that. It’s Yeah. Long bunker shot here. Does have to get it up on the next level. Great motion. Wow. That’s going to be four for four from the stand and 14th coming off a pretty solid run as of late. Made a whole bunch of numbers today. Liking this one. Zing and he should come on now. Exceptional three. Steuart Sink open the day double at the first but he has put on a show on this back nine. This for his fifth birdie on the back. There we go. Rolling one in. Well, I just mentioned he was kind of laying back in the packet like breathed a sigh of relief. Yeah, Jack says it. It’s truth. Yeah, I breathe a sigh of relief. He tried to hit it whole high as well. You think about the best ever play the game. That’s their that’s really the separating skill. Chalmer’s that helps as well. Well, I’ll guarantee you that’s straight down the hill. Golf course ball where you can start to make birdies. Yakobson going to have that same putt. Langanger just left short. Oh, and he’s up and out of that quick. Oh, and he made it. Oh, see now that that was not the walk with confidence. But one of those players hanging right around that top 54 number. How come you didn’t say Canadian Mike Weir? I That’s my I’m sorry, Zing. That’s my fault. I know. I got to get dialed in. How about tell you he’s playing a solid tournament. I mean that that gets him to seven under. You’re talking about late tea times tomorrow for Mike Weir as I mentioned now projected 41st on the surface with an Eagle putt. Here’s Gooseen. Talk about a guy that can put the zip on it. Zip. That’s beautiful. See if this is a weapon for Ernie L’s. That Tracer might have been off on that one. Oh, what a good This is That’s going to get better, too. What an amazing shot. Beautiful. And he caught it pretty good. Yeah, they even have a birdie putt there from that position. Let’s go to 18. Bujornne over the back. Trying to get this up and in for birdie. Well, this is clever. Absolutely. If you’re playing a lot of golf, you’re licking your chops at this one. back to the 16th. Oh, that is nice. Yeah. Back here at 17. Just about 30 minutes ago, Langanger made a triple. He could get all three back if this goes pretty good. There we go. Three in a row. You know who’s amazed? Look at his caddyy, Terry Holt. Did you see the look on Terry Holt’s face? Oh, it’s not often you want to do a replay. Everything turn it to the left. What’s the distance? 113. Oh boy. That’s a yardage for this guy. He loves it. And there it is. So that’s one of those you see what I can do, see if you can do better. Job in the neighborhood so he could save money to buy golf clubs. I mean, that’s when he’s 10. still going at it into his 50s. Good 18, big breaker, but two good shots in there. And that should be an easy birdie. That lengthy bunker shot. Looks like that bunker’s right against the green, but it’s not. And this is a pretty decent shot for Langanger. Not a great shot, but decent. Could be bogey free for a second time. That does enter your mind at some point. Big putt here at 18. Oh, this of course he does it. Langanger four straight after the triple. How about the instantaneous bounce back, Paul? 223 front gives him 245 hole going right up towards the center of the green. Good shot. Oh my goodness. That the best of the day here at 18. What a trajectory that came down just like Well, he’s on point, you know, Ta Green for sure. And uh I don’t think he putted terribly bad. Just wasn’t redot. Made some nice putts on the back nine to start today, including this man right here, the ageless one, Bernard Langanger. This at the fourth. Flushed the iron shot over the green. And the man just does stuff like that all the time. A pitch in there at the fourth. He’d had another birdie at the fifth. He’s got to beat Ernie Els though, who has played pretty flawless golf up until the last hole where he just made a bogey. And that’s how you bounce back. So Ernie with his first bogey of the week back at the par five six and that one pouring in from distance to get back to 11 under where he started the day. He’s been playing near flawless golf as well. He’ll go to Gusen here at nine to get within one. Sure. Of course. I think it’s a drawer’s paradise out here today. If you draw the ball on the golf course today, you’re going to be a happy camper. And Gusen likes to play a draw. Mario, one of the bubble boys. Oh, how about it from distance? Let’s go to the 17th. Matt Gole. This just a moment ago. This par three’s played tough all week. Awkward pitch shot. Speaking of crafty, like that. Oh, now yes, that’s what we like. Like that a lot. Let’s see if he can hang in there. Go to the 18th. Goal to finish things off with a birdie. This will be three straight to close out his tournament. Going to get there. Yes, it is. That is wonderful. Under par for goal about that finish at 1617 and a long one there at 18 Zinger. This an awkward cross bunker. Well, it’s really just what you want to avoid and you leave yourself shots like that. But then in his old European fashion, he just plops his hands right down there and let’s go to the 15th and Bjornne with that excellent awkward bunker shot. This to Ty Ernie a 10 under. I like that speed. Beautiful high side. Just perfect. Yeah, it’s not ideal, but he’s got a nice lie and he does have some room. He’s got a good 30 ft over that bunker. Oh, yeah. Is it out there a little bit to the right? Special spin. Yeah, that was pretty good. Yeah, that’s that goes in the category of clever. Give him eight feet. Does go downhill a little bit. wants to move slightly to his left. Oh, he barely touched it. Touched it enough. Great birdie from Ernie. What a punt. Took a stutter step, didn’t he? Everything with any kind of iron. He’s been in close. Really tight. Lots of birdie chances. And that is about as far away as he’s been in a while. And we’ll see if he can finally get one to go. There we go. Putt starting to drop for these players. Yes, sir. Well, like I say, somebody’s going to have to make a putt here. Going to need to slow down and wasn’t going to spin back. to be a little careful with speed here of going downwind down downhill. There we go. No frustration in that stroke. Excellent birdie. So much magic left in there. You know, things like this, it’s just so great. this par five. He got a good look at the scoreboard right on the back of that 15th green. So, he knows exactly where he stands. And this is a nice looking golf shot. Just a little right. Oh, whatever. That was so good. See you win. He wins the very next week. Let’s go to Ernie. An opportunity to get this up and in. Tack on another birdie. Yeah, that’s complete trust in your short game pitching this down that slope. He read it perfectly. Backto back now a two-shot lead. Couple holes left to play. Great shots he hit and putts that just didn’t quite go. He hasn’t hit really ugly putts either. Number 18, the parfer speaking of Paul. That’s pretty nice. Of course, so much focus. Really solid round of golf from Thomas Bjorn in these conditions. Made a lot of important critical putts. And Justin Leonard going to have an opportunity. Wow. Coming through in the clutch. His swing. Ty Green today. And this putt got way more important. Justin Leonard trying to get the 12 under. This could do it. If he could make this, he might have done it. He did it. What a putt. Right in the middle. Justin Leonard. Boy, it worked good the second it left. Oh, and just misses the right edge. That means Justin Leonard with the Eagle at the last, your champion here in Virginia. What a close for Leonard. What a heartbreak for Ernie. And Justin Leonard just picked Ernie’s pocket. Tremendous finish. Birdie par eagle to finish. That’s That’s as good as That’s kind of what we expected at the top of the show. something like this could happen.

  1. So many legends are playing this tour. It should have more views, maybe playing some tournaments live on youtube could allow some of us that prefer to avoid cable and tv contracts to watch these tournaments?
Especially those played in Scotland or Ireland etc.
