SEASIDE, Calif. – Santa Clara men’s golf held on to their spot inside the top three of the final standings at the Saint Mary’s Invitational after carding a 2-over 290 in Wednesday’s final round. The Broncos finished the event 2-under 862 to finish a stroke ahead of Long Beach State for third place. It is Santa Clara’s second top-three finish of the fall.
Senior Calder Overfelt tied for third individually after an even par in Wednesday’s round put him 4-under 212 in total. It is his second top three finish of the season after finishing runner-up at the season-opening Palouse Collegiate.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
Overfelt now has 11 top-20 finishes and four inside the top-10.
Matt Robles and Kevin Hollomon tied each other for 12th at 1-under 215. Hollomon shot even par in Wednesday’s round, tying Overfelt for the lowest score of the day for the Broncos.
J.P. Odland and Max Margolis each shot 1-over 73 to finish 5-over 221 and 8-over 224, respectively.
Jack Hayden, playing as an individual, finished on a high note with a 3-over 75 in the final round for his best round of the event.
Arkansas State held on for the wire-to-wire finish, tallying a 19-under 845 to take the team title ahead of Saint Mary’s (849).
Arkansas State’s Jake Wallis won medalist honors at 12-under 204.
