A year ago, when Kai Trump started her YouTube channel, she might not have expected the love she would get in the future. Of course, a major reason for her success was due to the surname she bore. But with her personal channel, people loved seeing Kai as an individual rather than a shadow of her grandfather. Now, as she celebrates the one anniversary of her channel, more love and support have poured in. And one such support has not gone unnoticed.

Kai took to Instagram to thank her followers for making her channels into something special, something she never expected in the first place. “One year ago, I started my YouTube channel not knowing what to expect… and it’s turned into something so special. From the BTS of the election, trips with my best friends, starting senior year, and golfing with Grandpa, I love sharing my life with all of you. Thank you for every comment, like, and view — you’ve made this first year unforgettable. There’s so much more to come, so if you haven’t yet, make sure you subscribe on YouTube (link in bio) 🫶” The post, which had photos with Donald Trump, Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy, got more than 70k likes, and one among them was of Charley Hull.

Hull, though, has never publicly interacted with Kai; her admiration of President Donald Trump has always made headlines. The 29-year-old golfer has been quite vocal about her feelings for him. “I love Trump, I think he’s brilliant,” is what she said last year during the CME Group Tour Championship.

Her appreciation for the US President likely emanates from parallels she draws between his and her own personality. She once admired how Trump “just says things without caring what other people think” of him. Any fan of Hull would know that she is quite like that too. She even joked once, wishing it had been Trump running her country. “He’s a little bit better than our Prime Minister.”

All of this admiration and manifestation eventually came true when this year, Hull finally got a chance to meet the US President. She was one of the 160 guests invited to Windsor Castle for the state banquet held in honor of the President’s second state visit to the UK. For Hull, the evening was “an honor.” She later shared that they spoke at length about golf and that Trump extended an invitation to play a round together, something she hopes will be fulfilled by the end of the year.

That’s why, given all this backdrop, it should not come as a surprise that Hull left a small gesture on Kai’s post. And it wasn’t just her; multiple other comments (more than 1K) commended the 18-year-old’s feat. Paris Hilinski, another pro golfer, commented “❤️” whereas one comment lauded Kai by saying, “You’re an amazing young lady. Keep up the great work. 🙌,”

Kai represents the new generation of the Trump family’s golf legacy. Just like her grandpa’s love for the sport, Kai has also shown impressive potential.

Amidst all this, a successful YouTube career is indeed impressive.

Kai Trump’s digital rise

Kai’s rise reflects a new generation of athletes blending legacy with digital influence. Like Alexandra O’Laughlin and Paris Hilinski, she uses social media to make golf more relatable and dynamic. Even pros such as Nelly and Jessica Korda have shown how authenticity and personality can modernize the sport’s image, and Kai fits perfectly into that movement.

At the same time, she’s redefining the Trump family legacy with a lighter, more personal touch. Rather than leaning into politics, her content highlights golf, family, and positivity — offering audiences a warm, approachable glimpse into her world. In that sense, she mirrors figures like Jack Schlossberg and Charlotte Clinton, who have built their own identities beyond family name recognition.

That balance of authenticity and accessibility has fueled her rapid growth online. In just a year, Kai’s YouTube channel has surpassed 1.3 million subscribers across 188 videos, offering fans a mix of golf moments, lifestyle snippets, and rare insights into her family life. Her video “A Day in My Life at the White House” alone has drawn more than 1.8 million views, proving her appeal extends far beyond the golf course.

There’s the rhythm of her daily life (like a wisdom tooth removal), or her training sesh, and tournament preps, as well as the fun travel vlogs that she records now and then, and the friendly golf matches with online creators like Garret Clark. She has also shot videos with Donald Trump, competing 1-on-1 (3.2 m views in just 11 days). That video offered an intimate look at her relationship with the President. ” I had a great time with him, and he made it easy. It was really nice to film with him.”

At the same time, she has also had Rory McIlroy in her video, as she played alongside him at the Genesis Open. “I love Rory, I love all the European guys as well,” she had said once.

In this way, Kai’s influence continues to grow not just on YouTube but across other platforms as well. She has 3.4 million followers on TikTok, 2.5 million on Instagram, and nearly a million on X.
