Kettering, Ohio – The Ohio Men’s golf team wrapped up the fall season on Tuesday morning, competing at the Dayton Flyer Invitational hosted by Dayton University at NCR Country Club’s South Course.
 
Butler and Illinois State shared the team title with scores of 867 (+15), followed by the host Flyers with a score of 872 (+20).
 
As a team, the Bobcats carded a 296 in Monday’s first round, followed by a 301 in the afternoon’s second round. The Bobcats recorded a 297 in Tuesday’s third and final round for a cumulative score of 890 (+38) to finish ninth in the tournament.
 
Individually, senior Will Kates (Centennial, Co.) led the Bobcats with a score of 219 (+6). Kates opened with a two over par 73 in Monday’s first round, and improved with a one over 72 in the afternoon. Kates wrapped up with a 74 in the third and final round, securing a top-20 individual finish at the tournament.
 
Following Kates was senior Nathaniel Gray Lamont (Guelph, Ontario), who finished T46 with a score of 227 (+14). Lamont opened Monday’s first round with a one over par 72, and followed with a 75 in the afternoon’s second round. Lamont wrapped up on Tuesday with an 80 in the third and final round.
 
Senior Carson Trafford (Dublin, Ohio) shot consecutive 77’s in Monday’s first and second rounds, before improving with a final round 74 on Tuesday to jump nine spots on the leaderboard, finishing T51 with a score of 228 (+15).
 
Freshman Jack Flores (Worthington, Ohio) opened Monday’s first round with a one over par 72, and carded an 83 in the afternoon’s second round. Flores finished with a 73 in Tuesday’s final round, moving 13 spots up the leaderboard for a T-51 finish at 228 (+15).  
 
Senior Jack O’Donnell (Powell, Ohio) carded a 75 in Monday morning’s opening round, following up with a 77 in the afternoon’s second round. O’Donnell closed with a third-round 76 to finish T51 at  228 (+15).  
 
Playing as an individual, graduate student Sam Hall (Gullane, Scotland) saw his first tournament action of the season, shooting 80 in Monday morning’s first round before improving with a 76 in the afternoon. Hall finished with a 79 on Tuesday for a total score of 235 (+22).
 
The Bobcats will take a break before returning to action for the spring at the Bentwater Intercollegiate, hosted by Sam Houston State at Bentwater Country Club in Montgomery, Texas from February 9-10.
