MANHATTAN, Kan. – Madi Hicks led the North Dakota State women’s golf team to a climb one spot and finish in a tie for fifth place at the Powercat Invitational at Colbert Hills Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.
Hicks (80-74-75—229) was just one stroke off her best round of the event at +3. The senior added two more birdies and 11 holes at par to climb five spots up the leaderboard and finish just outside the top 10 in a tie for 12th place out of 88 golfers at +13 overall.
Cora Larson (86-82-78—246) was the second placing Bison for the final round. Larson shot her best round of the event at +6 to shoot 19 slots up the leaderboard to finish +30 overall in a tie for 52nd place.
Hannah Dunk (79-77-81—237) and Avery Bartels (82-77-79—238) finished in the middle of the field after the final round. Dunk was +9 on the day and finished +21 overall in a tie for 26th place. Bartels finished +7 in the final round to rise eight spots up the leaderboard and finish in a tie for 29th place at +22.
Norah Roberts (78-79-82—239) closes out the Bison golfers for the event. Roberts finished the third round +10 to land in a tie for 34th place at +23 overall.
As a team, NDSU (319-307-313—939) finished +25 in the final round to climb one spot and finished in a tie for fifth with Bowling Green (305-320-314—939) at +75 overall. Kansas State (284-300-293—877) claimed their home tournament title by 27 strokes, finishing +13 overall. Cincinnati (299-306-299—904) claimed the runner-up position at +40 overall, and Wichita State (303-303-319—925) rounds out the podium in third at +61.
The Bison will return to action in one week at the Clash at Boulder Creek. The tournament, hosted by Northern Arizona, will be held at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Henderson, Neveda on October 27-28.
