SAN MARCOS, Texas – Sofia Barroso Sá recorded a hole in one and TCU is tied for fifth following two rounds of play at the Jim West Challenge at Kissing Tree Golf Club.

Barroso Sá landed her ace on the par-3, 125-yard 15th hole at the outset of round two. She began both rounds on the 13thtee box as teams commenced the 36-hole marathon with a shotgun start.

It was the first hole in one of her career and first by a TCU player since Kelly McGovern in 2014.

Barroso Sá’s ace sparked a TCU comeback effort. The Horned Frogs shot a nine-under 279 in round two and ascended four spots up the leaderboard. TCU’s second round score was the lowest of any of the 14 teams competing.

TCU, the defending Jim West Challenge champion, is tied with Texas Tech at three-over (579) ahead of Monday’s final 18 holes. The Frogs are within five strokes of No. 5 Texas A&M for second place. Florida State holds a seven-shot lead at nine-under.

Barroso Sá, along with Sofie Dimitrova and Camille Min-Gaultier, carried TCU back into contention. The trio combined to shoot nine under par in round two.

Dimitrova carded TCU’s low round of the day with a four-under 68. She bagged six birdies and was bogey-free over her final 14 holes. Dimitrova was the lone TCU player to post a clean scoresheet on the front nine. The junior, making her 13th career start, shot three-under (33) and capped her round with a birdie on 13.

Originally from the Czech Republic, Dimitrova improved her score by 12 strokes from round one. She came within one stroke of matching her low-18 record.

Barroso Sá finished with a 69 while Min-Gaultier turned in a 70. Min-Gaultier shot a one-under 35 on both the front nine and back nine. Barroso Sá was five-under for the round before bogeying two of her final three holes.

Min-Gaultier was again TCU’s most consistent performer. She is tied for 10th (-1, 143) going into round three. Min-Gaultier, tabbed No. 72 in the first set of Scoreboard rankings, is searching for her fourth top-10 in five starts this season. Her two-under 70 marked her 25th career par-or-better round. Min-Gaultier closed birdie on a tournament-best five-of-eight par-5 scoring opportunities.

Gracie McGovern shot a one-over 145 and is tied for 19th. The sophomore navigated a windy opening round to turn in a 71 (-1) and maintain top-10 positioning on the leaderboard. McGovern has shot under par in six of her last eight rounds dating back to her individual championship at the Schooner Fall Classic in September.

Barroso Sá and Dimitrova were two of the largest risers on the individual leaderboard. Barroso Sá joined a tie for 28th at three-over. Dimitrova is one stroke back of Barroso Sá and tied for 31st.

Kirstin Angosta, who won the Jim West Challenge in 2024, collected a team-leading nine birdies to round out TCU’s lineup. She is tied for 46th at six-over. Angosta birdied four of her first seven holes, including three straight on 16-18. Her second round was highlighted by an eagle on the 18th green. Angosta’s nine birdies were tied for the third-most of any player.

Charlotte Cattaneo competed as an individual finished seven-over and tied for 52nd. She held a share of the individual lead after her first nine holes after starting three-under with four birdies. Cattaneo matched her season low-18 in round one with a 74.

TCU concluded the day with 38 birdies, trailing only the Seminoles’ 41 for the tournament lead.

The Horned Frogs will tee off on holes 6-9 alongside Texas Tech and North Texas at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
