Part of the Australian PGA Legends Tour, the 54-hole championship offers a prize fund of $150,000 and is once again shaping up as a highlight of the senior golf calendar.
“Thurgoona is the perfect venue for the NSW Senior Open,” said Olivia Wilson, General Manager of Golf NSW.
“It’s a challenging, beautifully presented course, and the tournament consistently attracts some of the most respected names in Australian golf. We can’t wait to welcome the players and fans back for what promises to be an exciting weekend of competition.”
Located just 15 minutes north of Albury, Thurgoona Country Club Resort features an 18-hole championship layout designed by Thomson-Wolveridge. The par-72 course is known for its strategic design, pristine playing surfaces and scenic surroundings, providing the perfect stage for a thrilling weekend of golf.
The championship will feature a strong field of seasoned professionals and past champions.
Defending champion David McKenzie returns to Thurgoona after securing last year’s title with composed and consistent play.
Peter Lonard, a nine-time winner on the PGA Tour of Australasia and former European Tour player, will also be in the field, joined by Andre Stolz, one of the PGA Legends Tour’s top performers.
Mat Goggin, runner-up in 2024, will be aiming to go one better this year, while Peter O’Malley, a multiple-time winner on both the Australasian and European Tours, adds further depth to the field.
Mike Harwood, one of Australia’s most experienced senior players, and Brad Burns, the 2020 NSW Senior Open champion, are also set to contend.
They will be joined by Paul Gow, a three-time PGA Tour of Australasia winner and former PGA Tour player, who continues to be a strong presence on the Legends Tour.
In addition to these veterans, the field will include a mix of former champions and emerging senior players, all vying to add their name to the tournament’s growing list of winners.
Spectators can enjoy free entry across all three days, providing the perfect opportunity to see legends of the game up close. Thurgoona Country Club Resort offers ample parking, while the modern clubhouse features a bistro, coffee shop and bar for visitors to enjoy throughout the event. The final round on Sunday, November 2 will be broadcast live on Kayo Sports, allowing fans across Australia to follow all the action.
