The Amazing Golf Resort Experience at Primland! | 18 Holes with Jimmy Hanlin
[Music] Welcome to Blasters 18 holes presented to you by Carolina Camp Cedar. I’m PJ golf professional Jimmy Hanley and I’m LPJ tour player Natalie Gulbas. Today we are at Primland Resort in Virginia. And Nat, when you mix that with great golf, it is going to be awesome. Let’s hit down. Kicking off our day here at the Highland Golf Course at Primole number one. It’s a par five and it’s a good one. Get the ball in the fairway. Then when you’re going to see what Prim is all about. Spectacular views right from the top of the hill. Let’s make birdie on one. Kick off this day right. [Music] The scenic par 3 second hole is pretty generous. There’s not a lot of challenge here. If you do miss the green to the left, it will kick down slightly to the right, but a miss to the right is even more penalizing. So, anything up the left center of the green, you’ll be in a good spot. Nice. Stay there. You hit it on the left side, right where you told everybody to. I hope so. Oh yeah. Oh, right back to the hole. Are we at altitude? Little deep right in the back. That’s a good shot. Go number three here at Finland is a par five and it’s a good one. First out of the gate, you got to get the ball into play off the tea. Long hitters might even be able to get it partial way down that hill. Secondly is you got to avoid that hazard going across the fairway at all cost. And last but not least, that pot bunker on the left side is not where you want to be. Avoid all that stuff. Easy birdie. Turn a little close up there. Hole number four is a beautiful par three. It is a pretty easy par three. So you can definitely make birdie here. Avoid the bunker that’s short left. Take a good club and make a birdie. [Music] Well number five here is just awesome. Downhill T-ball. Just find the fairway anywhere. Uphill second shot. You got to take more club. Guarded by that pot bunker. This is an incredible looking hole. [Music] Hole number six is a challenging par five. You need to pay attention from start to finish on this hole. But start with the T-OT. Aim it right at that target stick that’s in the middle of the fairway. And then be smart with your second shot. I hit it at that little sticky. Owner seven is a really difficult par for you. Got to find a way to get it into this fairway right here. Avoid those fairway bunkers on the right side. Second shot a little more downhill. One of the toughest holes at Krimland if you ask me. All [Music] right, we get to hole number eight. That par three. One of the most beautiful golf courses I’ve ever been on in my life. This is spectacular. It’s like hiking slashneature walking/play golf. This is right up your alley. Gorgeous here. Absolutely gorgeous. With so many things to do here at Primland. Yeah. Elevation changes top to bottom. You have to pay attention what club you’re hitting. Big greens. Just views on every hole. I mean, it’s just spectacular. I was here, but it’s been 10 years. You’ve never been here before. You got to be blown away. I’ve never been here. I absolutely love this place. As you know, I have a friend who is um you know, very involved in Primland, him and his family. And it’s actually called Primlin after the Primad family. So, that’s really a really cool thing. And I’ve been so excited to play this place. So excited to even see this resort. I was, you know, begging you guys like, can we please go? Can we please go? Can we leave? Can we go there early? cuz I wanted to just see how this place actually measured up to the photos and it far exceeded. It’s gorgeous here. Well, it’d be great for you to go back home and tell them that you made a hole in one on the eighth hole. Yep. Or some swag from the pro shop. Yeah, that too. There you go. My new fivewood. Wow, that was solid. Oh, perfect club. I might have to play for a uh swag prim item. You can’t call out a bet after you already hit the shot. I thought we were I called the bet at the last show. I don’t remember that. I forget all about that. First play first play hole. We’re playing for Primag. I even already put it at the counter cuz I know what I want. There’s a hat that says Prim on it on the front. Well, that’s perfect for you. It’s right in range. Not even a Kashmir sweater. Looks like I’m going to hit it left a little bit today. that I’m going to show you my It’s okay. I knew I knew I didn’t early call that uh that logoed hat that I want. Oh, all right. I’m going to win something back. [Music] Good shot. I thought that was real deep though, huh? Yeah. Oh, man. Stop. Wow. down the mountain. Wow. Good par. Thank you. This green is so big, huh? Got nothing to lose. Yeah, nothing to lose. Trying to make myself a little far here. You either don’t have to buy it or you do. Did I hit it? Did I hit it? Ow man. Did you putt well with that putter? I do putt pretty good. Even when you’re at home playing games and stuff. I putt a lot better with this putter inside 10 ft. All right. I love Primlin. All right. More blasters. 18 holes right after the break at Prim. One of the most beautiful resorts you’ve ever seen. Welcome back to Blasters 18 Holes presented to you by Cincinnati Camp Cedar. We are in the mountains of Virginia at Prim, one of the most beautiful resorts you’ve ever seen. Hole number nine is a fun and challenging par4 up the hill heading towards the clubhouse. It’s just long. You just got to take extra club off the tea and take extra one to two clubs into that approach. Ripped. All right, Natalie. Back nine time. The front eye was awesome. I love this place. This place is gorgeous. This this view here, huh? I know. the clubhouse with the conservatory. This hole. I can’t wait to see the back. Awesome. I I don’t know if I want to see this hole. This hole looks hard right here. Par 4. Aiming at that house. Let’s go. And hope. Hope. Hit and hope. Yep. Bam. Winner. Right at the house. That’s pretty much exactly where you were trying to hit it, huh? Work, huh? Good drive. Kick down the hill and go, baby. Go, go, go. Winner. [Music] That was a good shot. Holy moly. Good shot. Look at that. Look at this fivewood. You love that club. Look at it go in. Try to get inside that one. Wow, that was a pretty good shot with my five. Try five. Five. I have pitching wedge. You had fivewood and I can’t hit it closer right now. Wow. I pushed a little. Oh, wow. I mean, you kind of deserve that after you talked yourself out of it. I did. I think I got a piece of it up there, though. Think I could probably give you that. What do you think? Thanks. I’ll take it. You have your putter. Get rid of it over there. Oh, you just turn. Oh my gosh, that’s so that’s so wrong. You know, it can like go out of alignment. Not on the soft ground. Probably true. It’s okay. I’m just going to take my time so you can really I’m going to line it up just so you know that I’m going to make birdie and beat you on this hole. What I know is I need to get that fi fivewood out of your bag. I love that fivewood. I tell you, this is a great hole though. I love this hole. This place is awesome. All right, good birdie net. Yeah, we’re about Sorry I threw your putter. We’re about to tie it up right here though. Time to tie up that birdie. Oh yeah, chicken dinner. Oh, it didn’t break. Wow, it’s a good par in this hole though. It’s a tough hole. Yeah, brutal hole. I made par and I’m like depressed. I just got whipped. Good birdie. Good birdie, Matt. Good birdie. Thank you. All right, more prinland to come. It just keeps getting better and better. right here on 18 holes presented you by Blasters. [Music] Welcome back to Blasters 18 holes. Today we are at the beautiful Primland Resort in Virginia. All right, as we make our way through the Blue Ridge Mountains, we come to hole number 11 here at Primland par4. This fairway you could land a 747 in. But that’s not the key. The key is the second shot to this well-guarded green. Stay out of that bunker on the right. Really good golf hole. Rip that driver. Stuff a wedge. Let’s make fat and perfect club. Get on up there. Look at that. Winner chicken dinner. Hole number 12 is a par three. Quite a few of the par threes here at Primland are quite challenging and this one is a perfect example of that. It’s a long par three. You do not want to leave it short. Got to take it up close. Jimmy, look at this fivewood right here. I love this club. It’s so crazy. This is how I fell in love with the rescue is when I tried it one time for the show. As we make our way through the Brack 9 here at Primley, we come to hole number 13. It’s a par five and super long, tight off the tea. Probably not a bad layup hole, but if you bust a drive, why not rip it? Get ity up ball. Go. Climb. Climb. That was smashed. Hole number 14 here is a par three. And talk about no bailout at all. You got to hit it solid to get over this big ravine. Big green though. Lots of room. See what you can do. Oh, good shot. Throwing a hole. Hole 15’s a par4 and it is tight off the tea. You got to find a club that you can get into this fairway. If you can do that, you’re going to have a shorter iron into a pretty large green. Easy hole. Keys the T- ball. Work on in there, Paul. I like it. Might not have got back to that flag. Hole number 16 is a par4 straight dog leg right. Take your T-OT up the left center and it gives you a clear second shot. Good one. Hole 17 is a breathtaking par five. You got to bust your drive out there. Big fairway. Obviously, keep it to the left. Next shot, dog leg right up the hill. Straight up the hill. You need two good ones here to try to make bird. [Music] All right, N. Last hole. I’m a little sad it’s the last hole. This golf course is so beautiful. Every hole is different and the views from just, you know, a few feet off the tea boxes are spectacular. Yeah. Well, by the way, she’s just absolutely striped it all day today, too. That’s the other reason she doesn’t want it to end. But, uh, that’s fun. I I do do love it here. I love Primlin. It’s exceeded all my expectations. And this golf course is just it does not disappoint. It’s absolutely beautiful here. Well, I feel like I give good golf advice when we’re on the show here. One piece of advice I would say when you come to Primrelin on 18, don’t get too close to the edge of the tank. Man, that is really good. Oh, yeah. Right next to the little target target marker. The thing you were aiming at, you mean? I was. Yeah. But it it’s um it’s in it’s on a pretty aggressive line. Yeah, that was aggressive. No, but the little marker thing is on aggressive line. That is aggressive line. Yeah, unless you’re getting a cut for sure. Right. There we go. Good swing. Perfect. Good shot. Yeah, I’ll take it. Get out there. What a great finishing hole. Absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to see my room, though. Yeah. Oh, I know, right? As great as Primland is, I’m excited to see I mean, I love the house that we had, but I’m very excited to stay in the lodge or of one of those tree houses. Yep. Oh man, I think I’m going to name my fivewood Primlet. I think you should name your fivewood perfect. Gosh, I might put this in the bag for the next event. Yeah, you better put it in your bag or it’s going to be in mine. Good swing. Yeah, that was pretty good, huh? A little thin, but so good. Right at it. Good shot. Really good shot. Yeah, let’s finish this round of golf, baby. Okay, Jimmy. Two putts. Two putts to moonshine. Wow. Here we go. I’ll just take my Liptin heart iced tea. Same thing. Two putts to candied bacon. There you go. Candied bacon and lip in iced tea. There you go. Maybe one putt. Oh man, that broke a lot. Wow. That was good though. You can have it. Feel like I played really good today and I feel like I shot 90 after watching you hit it all day. Well, uh, extra extra motivation. Just kept hitting it better and better as the day went on. We’re competing for something. Finish it off. Soon as we’re competing, she hits the shot of the day. Makes birdie to finish it up. Shot of the day. Time to go shopping. I’ll go shopping. I’m going to the 19th hole. Presented to you by Lip and Hard I iced tea. Don’t leave me hanging after just beating on me. after we go get my item from the pro shop. That was great golf today. We’re going to the 19th hole to have a Lipton hard iced tea. [Music] Welcome to the 19th hole presented to you by Lipton Hard I iced tea. And we sit here on the patio here at the Primland Lodge where by the way that just named by Travel and Leisure, the best hotel in the continental US, number one hotel, number one in the south. So Brian Alli, director of golf was talking about that, saying that’s brought some great phone traffic already and people are excited to come see it. And I think you could talk about why right now, huh? It’s incredible. From the minute that you get here, you can just it just feels it’s like a feeling. And everything that is here is so special. It’s so unique. It’s so breathtakingly gorgeous. I mean, everywhere. But like every detail of this place is made to like represent everything that Primland’s hoping for you to, you know, to really achieve and to feel when you’re here. Whether it’s the food, whether it’s the people, how nice they are, whether it’s the spa, whether it’s the gym, but the golf course. I mean, this golf course is off the charts. Yeah. But every part of it, I mean, I did yoga up there in the observatory. It’s absolutely spectacular here. I I think it’s, you know, there’s a lot of people in the world that when they go on vacation net, they just want to check out, right? They want to be able put their phones away and check out. This is a spot you could do that right here, right? This is a spot where you can get away from the world. One of my favorite parts is the sporting club. I mean, I like activities. I want to go to a resort where there is a lot to do, and this place does not disappoint. from the ropes course to the equestrian to I mean it’s it’s honestly there’s so many things to do here that you definitely have to squeeze a little bit of of everything in at the recreation center. I mean you got to check it all out. Yeah. And you know the other thing you know if you’re if you’re looking for somewhere else for a second home or somewhere to live or it’s quiet they’re going to start having residentials out residential areas out here. We could actually live here at Prim which I’ll tell you what beautiful peaceful. Oh my gosh that’s as peaceful get. That would be amazing. It just it everything is just so like you said, you’re in such a remote kind of an area that you really can’t escape from everything when you’re here. Yeah. And listen, you could come here and play for the day. You actually don’t have to stay here to play. The golf course, like Natalie was just saying, is off the charts. I mean, it is. You’re not going to find very many golf courses in the United States that you stand on a tea so many times and go, “Wow.” It’s so I mean just the crew right when we were shooting here they’re like get a picture of this. Let’s do a social picture here. Let’s get another one. Hit another shot here. How about this angle, you know, you can just it’s just so beautiful here and it’s from start to finish, right? Like even on the 18th hole it was like oh no, this is the end. It felt like we were just walking around in a national park today. It was so beautiful. Speaking of national parks, I think we are the only ones that have ever driven the RV to Prim. And that’s maybe not the best way to get here, but we’ve done it twice. Put us at the bottom of the range. So, we’re good. We are definitely uh It’s a tough drive in the RV, but uh you know, in your SUV or however else you’re getting here, it will be absolutely fine. But, um and I think you and I were actually talking, we were driving in a cart earlier about the staff here, the golf staff here, Brian Alli and his staff, couple Methodist Monarchs in there, by the way, are off the charts, right? He just wants us, he wanted to make sure that we were having a good time from the beginning. I mean, when I checked in, they gave me a cookie, which is like I mean, they’re already winning from there. And then this morning with like the most amazing coffee, you get freshmade biscuits. It’s like every You told me there’s candied bacon somewhere. Yeah, you were going to get I have not seen that. Candy bacon is on the way. But all those little um you know, sustainability is huge here. Just all the details here from the rooms to the staff to the way that they make you feel. I mean, it’s a very special place. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. A special place. And I’m telling you, if you’re a golfer, yes, 100%. If you’re a non-golfer, great place to come, right? Just to again get away, enjoy the views. Just look at it. It’s spectacular. It’s like it’s it’s so beautiful. For sure. For sure. And again, you don’t have to play golf. They have members here even here at Prim. They have members. They have day, but a lot of it’s the travel and stay here and play and that kind of stuff. And it’s not packed. You know, it’s not a golf course where they’re going to do 250 rounds a day. We were out there today and it was like we’re out there by ourselves. It was such a nice feeling to be out there and just Well, there’s still more for me to get into at Kremlin. So, let’s uh let’s get through our 19th hole so we can go see some of these other other things that are still left to like check off for me while we’re here. I hope it goes as well as your golf game did today because that’s as good as I’ve seen you hit in a long time. That was really good. So that was fun fun to watch for sure. But a special place to get seeped into my golf game, right? For sure. All right, we got a lot of people we got to thank. Thanks for the crew coming here. We had a great trip for sure. The people at Prim here uh are awesome. They’re so welcoming. Like I said, Brian Ally and his crew, Katrina and the marketing crew, just everybody here uh were very welcoming welcoming for us to come here. And then obviously we always have to thank you guys for watching us this week on Blasters 18 holes presented to you by Cincinnati KMC.
