Tiger Woods, one of golf’s greatest legends, has experienced a steep decline in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) over recent years due to persistent injuries and limited play.

As of October 2025, Woods has fallen outside the top 2000, currently ranked 2048th, with his ranking expected to disappear entirely by the 2026 Masters if he cannot return to tournament play.

Woods’ ranking nosedived after a series of setbacks, including surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon earlier this year and subsequent lumbar disc replacement surgery in October 2025. These surgeries have forced him to miss most tournaments this season. His last competitive appearance was at The Open Championship 2024, after which he was ranked 879th before dropping further due to inactivity.

Historically, Woods has been dominant, holding the No. 1 OWGR spot for a record 683 weeks and winning 15 major championships. However, following a severe car accident in 2021 and ongoing physical challenges, his tournament appearances have drastically reduced, impacting his ranking significantly.

Despite these struggles, Woods remains active in golf through exhibition events, including his play in the tech-driven TGL series and plans to participate in the upcoming season starting January 2026. He also actively supports junior golf through events like the TGR Jr Invitational.

While his competitive career faces uncertainty due to health, Tiger Woods’ legacy as a transformational figure in golf remains undisputed. Fans and analysts watch closely, hoping for a comeback, but realistically, his OWGR position may vanish soon if current conditions persist. This marks a poignant chapter closing on an extraordinary career.
