STANFORD, Calif. – The Washington women’s golf team wrapped up the first round of play in the Stanford Intercollegiate today, tying for 17th place, scoring 15 over par on the 71-par course.
Athena Ni led the Huskies in round one with a steady score of 72 to finish tied for 32nd place overall, while Mads Smith shot a 75 to stand in 66th. Wendy Tang and Carmen Lim each shot 76s to stand tied at 78th place. At the back of the pack was Amber Li, who placed 91st overall at 8-over.
“We did a lot of good things on the course today,” said head coach Anna Temple. “We’re making better decisions and responding more productively when we get the ball out of position. That’s a good place to build off of the next two rounds. We’re excited to get back at it tomorrow.”
Washington will look to climb the leaderboard when second-round play resumes Saturday morning at Stanford Golf Course.
