Kai Trump has publicly offered her prayers after the deadly shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, a young MAGA figure who leaves behind a wife and children, during a university event in Utah.

She reposted a White House statement on Instagram that included a quote from President Donald Trump, who said, “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. God bless him.”

She included her own message saying, “Pray for Charlie.” Hours later, Kai shared another post. “I am deeply saddened to hear the news about Charlie Kirk,” she wrote.

“My heart goes out to his wife Erika and their two children. He was a close family friend and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this tragic time. Rest in peace Charlie.”

The attack happened on Wednesday at Utah Valley University, where Kirk, who was broadcasting live when the bullet struck, was delivering remarks outside during his ‘American Comeback Tour,’ a campus debate series organized by Turning Point USA.

While speaking to students, officials say he was hit in the neck by a lone shot fired from a nearby building roughly 200 yards away.

Video from the gathering showed the moment of the assault: Kirk recoiled and fell, with clear evidence of wounds, as the audience responded in panic. He was rapidly taken to a medical facility, where he eventually died from his wounds.

Authorities, including the FBI and ATF, immediately launched an investigation. Early reports suggested a person of interest was taken into custody, but later updates indicated no suspect was formally detained.

Federal and local agencies said they were tirelessly working to identify and locate the shooter.

The incident sparked a swift nationwide response and widespread condemnation. President Trump, via Truth Social, described Kirk as “a great guy from top to bottom” and called for prayers.

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump posted on his social media platform.

Conservative leaders and media figures, along with the official White House account, echoed the sentiment, calling for prayers and expressing solidarity.

Among them were House Speaker Mike Johnson, Education Secretary Linda McMahon, and others who took to social media platforms urging calm.

Public reaction spanned across the political spectrum. Utah Governor Spencer Cox labeled the shooting a “political assassination” and assured that those responsible would be held accountable.

J.D. Vance and Nancy Pelosi were also among those who offered condolences and expressed concern over the escalating political violence.

In the wake of the tragedy, Utah Valley University acted promptly. The campus was temporarily shut down and classes were called off as students were safely evacuated.

Turning Point USA issued a statement confirming Kirk’s demise and requested privacy and prayers for his family, highlighting that his wife Erika and their children were present at the time of the shooting.
