A human skull was found at a golf course in Tennessee and an investigation is underway.

The Johnson City Police Department told TV station WJHL it is investigating the human skull found at Pine Oaks Golf Course on Thursday.

A news release sent by the police said officers responded to a call for service at the golf course. The police were told a skull was found in a wooded area on the golf course property.

From WJHL’s report:

The JCPD Criminal Investigations Division, alongside a cadaver dog from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a search of the area Friday morning and found no further evidence.

“Officials with the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center at East Tennessee State University determined the skull to be human,” the release states. “The skull was taken to the Center for further examination.”

Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional information will be provided when it’s available.
