NORMAN — Oklahoma men’s golf is set for the penultimate event of its fall slate as it competes at the Williams Cup presented by STITCH Golf beginning on Sunday, Oct. 19, at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will host 14 teams, including seven in the top 25 of this week’s Scoreboard by Clippd national rankings. The 13th-ranked Sooners are one of four top-15 squads playing the event.
Teams begin play on Sunday morning, and will play one round each day with a champion crowned on Tuesday afternoon.
Head coach Ryan Hybl, who seeks his 50th win all-time, brings a veteran lineup to Eagle Point, highlighted by the world’s No. 5 amateur, Jase Summy, along with three other top-100 amateurs in Ryder Cowan (No. 37), Clark Van Gaalen (No. 63) and Matthew Troutman (No. 100). Sophomore Asher Whitaker rounds out the Oklahoma lineup.
Eagle Point GC hosted the Truist Championship in 2017 and consistently ranks as one of the top golf courses in the country. Opened in 2000 and designed by Tom Fazio, the course will play 7,353 yards as a par-72 layout next week.
Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament on Golfstat.
