Golf Australia (GA) has announced the appointment of Rebekah Horne, a leading technology and digital media executive, to its board of directors.

Currently serving as country director, Software & Services at Apple Australia, Rebekah Horne oversees major consumer platforms including the App Store, Apple Music, Apple News, and Apple Books.

GA chair, Peter Margin, said Horne’s expertise will be critical in driving innovation.

“Rebekah brings deep expertise in digital innovation and customer strategy, which are vital to our future.” 

“Her experience will help guide Golf Australia’s digital transformation, making the game more accessible and inspiring more women and girls to take up and enjoy golf,” Margin said.

Expressed her excitement about contributing to the sport’s next chapter, Horne, noted: “Golf is in an exciting period of growth and transformation, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute.” 

“I look forward to helping Golf Australia leverage digital platforms to reach new audiences and enhance fan and player experiences,” she said.

Her appointment brings over two decades of senior leadership experience across technology, media, and sport including roles as Chief Digital & Data Officer at the NRL and Chief Digital Officer at Network Ten.

As Golf Australia embarks on its largest digital transformation to date, aiming to enhance accessibility and engagement for a rapidly growing participant base.

More than 4 million adults in Australia have played golf in the past year, with club memberships up by over 20% since 2020.
