WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After wrapping September with back-to-back team and individual title sweeps, No. 1-ranked Wake Forest women’s golf looks to keep its winning momentum at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational at Finley G.C. in Chapel Hill, N.C., from Oct. 17-19.
The Demon Deacons enter this weekend ranked No. 1 in the country for the first time since March 2024. Additionally, four Deacs are ranked in the top 50 individually, and three inside the top 25.
Wake Forest is one of seven other ACC schools competing at the tournament, which features No. 17 Duke as well as SEC opponents No. 7 South Carolina and No. 16 Auburn.
Live scoring will be available all weekend via Scoreboard.
Last Time Out
The Demon Deacons head into the tournament following an outstanding September where they say back-to-back tournament title sweeps. Sophomore Chloe Kovelesky earned ACC Women’s Golfer of the Month in September following an individual title performance at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which propelled the team to its first team title of the year. Additionally, Kovelesky saw a runner-up finish with four-under par at the Stephens Cup the following weekend. Junior Macy Pate shot eight under par to secure her first collegiate title at the 2025 Jackson T. Stephens Cup and helped the Deacs to the top seed in the matchplay portion of the competition. The Demon Deacons earned their second title of the season with senior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen providing the clinching point in extra holes.
Wake Forest at Ruth’s Chris
In 2024, the Demon Deacons earned a runner-up finish at the tournament while alum Carolina Chacarra shot two under to grab the individual runner-up finish.
Wake Forest’s last victory in Chapel Hill came in 2021, where the Deacs shot 17-under to take the team title. Alum Rachel Kuehn shot the third-lowest total in tournament history at 11-under to take the individual title and secure a sweep for the Demon Deacons.

Course Overview
UNC Finley Golf Club – Chapel Hill, N.C.
Par 70 – 6,095 yds
Finley Golf Course is one of the top 20 collegiate courses in the country. The club offers a well-conditioned, comprehensive facility with a driving range, putting green, and chipping. Tom Fazio designed this challenging layout that is diverse enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. He included his trademark false fronts and greenside bunkers. To keep the golf course approachable, there are several different ways to play the bunkers and there are numerous risk-reward opportunities. Seven sets of tees ranging from about 5,000 to 7,300 yards make the course even more versatile.
