Stupidly Aggressive Golf on a Ridiculously Tight Golf Course!
So, when you’re playing a short, tight golf course, you got the decision to either lay back, try and hit as many fairways as possible, or try and get the ball as far up the hole as possible, hit driver, try and find it, and try and scramble. Today, we’re doing the latter. Let’s see how we get on. Oh, dear. 105 front. All right then, boys. Welcome back. Tournament vlogs. Uh, it’s been a few weeks since we’ve done one of these. This is my last tournament before I head to South Africa. So, today’s Devon Alliance, which is a promp and there’s an Amam and then there’s a pro individual as well. So, so scrambling from the get- go. Wide drive at 100 yards over the tree. He hit a decent shot with 56° and had this just short of the green and it is a fairly safe par on the first hole. Just let me know. Just give me the queue. He’ll catch he’ll catch your chat on there. So after a fairly steady start, this is hole four and most people just hit something 240 to leave themselves around 280 to sorry 180 to 190 into this hole. Me and Josh both trying to hit driver as far down the hole as possible. Josh absolutely nuking this one. Left himself a perfect spot. One actually hit the tree on the left and bounced all the way across the fairway and then I had I think I had about 110. Yes, mate. You go for it. So, what we’re trying to do here is just give myself the best possible chance of making par. So, it’s very slope from right to left. So, I was just trying to get this rolling somewhere around the front of the green. Thought it would end up on the left. And actually here, really good shot to here. So, this is something to pay attention to my chipping. We are going right below left. Um, we’ll talk about the left below, right, right below, left on another video, but just pay attention to how quickly I actually hit this. Uh, so once I know that he’s hit, I am straight in here knowing what my target is. One look, two looks, and then strike. I honestly can’t tell you how much better my chicken’s got. Good to have a three-pointer on the card actually from our team, isn’t it? Yeah, you can make a birdie at some point. And this is my team partner today, Big Orange. I won’t trace where that went. Um, but he was giving me on the teeth for not making a birdie yet. This was a Well, I just blocked this. It’s at the top of the tree. It looks It is actually way tighter than it looks. Uh, this T-shot, regardless, it’s a terrible t-shot. Uh, it hit the top of the tree, came down, and then I had two, let’s say, 270. It’s a short par four. I had 270 to the pin. Now, I’d save par on the third and the fourth and obviously well out of position here. Just knock this two iron, which is a tiny bit heavy. Um, I left myself 50 yards. Hit really nice pitch again. Just getting in there, seeing the target, reacting. And then after that, I had a chance at making another pass save after missing the green. Great, mate. It’s a great Are we rolling, J? Uh, we are. Yeah. Do you want to say anything? No, nothing morbid. I make no pack again. Babacum, you talk you loud, don’t you? No. Payton boy me. Oh, are you? Yeah, it’s close enough, isn’t it? Same difference, mate. Is it? Where’s the model village from here? Yeah. You want to be a big cop in a small town? Off up the model village. Oh, you’re asking questions now. Um, where is the Kent from here? The what? Kent. The Kent. Yeah, Kent’s cover. All right. Okay. Big Orange. Hi, James. How are we doing then as a team? Just made a birdie, mate. Oh, sorry team. Um, Big Orange has just knocked one in from 190. It was all about the read after it was the T-shot. You leave yourself a good angle in. Yeah, just short of the hedge. Just past the tree. 69 to 8 foot. Roll it in. B level level part. Yeah, level. We’re level as a team. It’s actually not bad. Level as a team’s okay at this point. Um, it’s playing pretty tricky, isn’t it? It’s um it’s just talky. Two three-pointers on the card. I’ve got Have you yourself? Well done, mate. Um he’s giving it loads. Twos and ones at the moment, mate. Cuz you got two ways to play this hole. Eye. You can play to the corner and wedge it up. We’re just going straight for the green. It’s playing about 250 because it’s into the breeze. And I just pushed it. Stuck again. But this is not an easy shot. Got to hit a sort like a semi flop over the tree. He’s just played it delicately there. John, what’s going on? Yeah. Big orange myself. Just having a look at this part. Looks like it’s going to shift hard left. It’s so quick down this hill. The spine in the green just knocked it right early. Absolutely fine. It’s like the biggest ofes stripes it down the middle on the downhill path four. This is 310 or 320. Plays about 40 downhill. Sort of into out the right. I’ve absolutely gunned this two iron. Straight to green. Came up a little short. Got a bit of a soft first bounce. This is me reacting to a shot that’s just been played into this green landing short and it got a huge kick forward. So I picked a landing spot about 10 yards short of the green which from here is just over halfway to the hole again. Just getting in there almost like one look two look and just playing it getting more reactive. Played this perfectly. It’s just got a massive first bounce that I wasn’t expecting after the rain that we’ve had. Just a quick shout out to Abel. This is one of the there’s about 10 new colors in these polos and the fit is great. The quality is great. They got all the winter gear on there as well. You can use James 10 for your discount. A big orange getting away on the par 513 dog leg left downhill. This is like a perfect t-shot to hit just like a a ropey power draw. And yeah, as you can see, really out of sync and really stuck. And uh it was not a good ball striking day. 209 front. Can’t get it. Hazards short and left. That’s a flyer. Try and rope a seven and just leave it out to the right. Okay, I’m not going to lie. This is probably one of the best golf shots I’ve ever hit. This is 225 middle green. Hitting a high hook seven. I’m over a massive tree riding the wind. And this actually went to the back of the green. Wow. Got on the green. That’s outrageous. That’s about 40 yards of hook in here. Right. Update. So, I am currently too overpar. Uh my short game has been outrageous. I’ve barely hit a green today. We’re just going for it. Missing fairways, meaning having to like chip around the greens. And I’ve made so many saves. I’ve actually chipped in for par as well cuz I’ve hit it in a bunker. um which had no sand. So I scoldled it over the green and made I’m in for par. But yeah, I’m two over par with a eagle par. We’re one under as a team. I reckon the winning score is going to be four under and we’ve got about six holes left. So par five, this is way uphill. Probably about 60 70 foot. And as you can hear, I’m like in disbelief at managing to actually score. Okay. Um, anything around par around Tori is respectable because it is a tricky tricky golf course and I’ve hit it really really poorly. Just stuck under it hitting blocks and quick lefts. This one though I had 88 yards uphill. Probably played this about 95 with a 56. Thought it hit a perfect shot. It’s just caught the top of the tier and ripped back down. You don’t usually see me that animated, but I was raging at that point because I knew really we needed to make a few birdies to come in. We thought 40 points would be a great score um as a team and if I could make a few birdies and stay I’m actually one over at this point after making the birdie on the par five. Um anything around level one under is a very good score for the pro. So this is for par. Yeah, good partner. Very good. Okay, 100 yards slightly into wind. Just a very strange flyy ball flight. It was just sat down in the rough and it just popped out and sort like knuckle ball to the right which left me this disgusting shot. Now I’ve chipped it really well all day. So this is not a I’m scared so I’m going to get a putter out. This was sat down on mud with lots of grass around it onto playing onto a downs slope. There was almost no shot with the wedge even though it looks relatively easy on camera. You can’t really see the slopes. Um but part was a sensible play here and I gave myself a look. Anyway, two holes to play. We got big orange on the 290 yard path for up the hill. Great T- shot. And this is another example of how bad I was swinging on the day. Just look at how loopy and hooky this is. It was a nice shot. It was struck really well. This was all I had. And that is one thing about knowing sort of like your shot pattern where it is instead of trying to find something randomly on the golf course. You can still find a way to get it around with what you have. It’s just not that pretty. Um he didn’t hit the best of chips there. He’s got a very good short game as well, which is why he’s disappointed. And uh this is a pitch shot over the green uh sorry over the bunker and actually hit a decent shot here. So greens were done two weeks ago and they’ve recovered pretty well. This is just one of the greens that hasn’t got a lot of light so it just didn’t recover that well. Apart from five foot got stuck in a tram line and just took it left pretty hard. Um, but nothing nothing away from Tori. It’s a golf course which is in really good condition a lot of the year. So 80. Yeah, I think it could be 180 shot. I think I I think it’s a 180 shot. Smooth seven. Okay, standing on this te two of a par. Really nice golf swing. The shot tracers had a bit of a mare there. This is a nice floaty seven iron that’s landed 15 foot away. So really happy with that golf swing and we are two under as a team at this point. Two or three. Big orange plays a nice chip here. Really tough. Has a massive slope if you can’t see it that well on the camera. And it left me a putt of 15t for birdie. And I cannot hit a better putt than this. Big orange told me that it hit something a few feet out. I don’t know whether it did. Um but really wanted to hold that and hit a decent part. So you can’t be can’t say much more than that. And these are the scores. So me and Big Orange, we were eighth place. The score was actually really good. 42 points one. And I was fifth place with two over, three under one. Good score from poker.
Today I’m playing a golf tournament on one of the tightest courses you’ll ever see… and I decided to hit DRIVER. Everywhere.
No laying up, no playing safe — just full send from the first tee to the last. It’s a proper test of whether aggressive golf can actually work on a course designed to punish it.
Can you really take on every hole and still score? Let’s find out.
