Mike Tyson is without a doubt the most terrifying teenage boxer in history. In his 12th professional bout, he floored Eddie Richardson with his first shot as he scored his sixth straight first round knockout victory. That’s the motto, of course. Oh, right hand by Tyson. Oh my. First punch he threw. What took him so long? Former longtime heavyweight champion Larry Holmes had little respect for Tyson before their matchup in 1988. However, Holmes could not deny Tyson’s power after a right hand from the young champion sent him crashing to the canvas in round four. He’s going to hang on, but he’ll stop the fight. Down he goes. Oh, he’s hurt. It’s all over. He is knocked out. He didn’t even bother the count. It was a vicious, vicious right hand. It came like a boat. He looked for it and Larry got hurt. A big right hand ends the career. [Music] Poland’s Andrew Galada tasted Tyson’s devastating power in the first round of their matchup in October 2000. Andrew, the punch left Gota with a broken jaw and serious injury. [Music] In a fight to crown the true champion, undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and lineal heavyweight champion Michael Spinx squared off in June 1988. And we’re just about ready to go. The opening bell. Let’s see what happens. Tyson attacks immediately. Cuts off the right landing, but he’s taking them. The uppercut. Body shot. Down goes Mike Space for the first time. Tyson ended the fight with a vicious right hand that left Spinx dazed on the canvas. He leaves with the right hand. Down he goes. I don’t think he’ll get up from this. Mike Spinx is laying flat on his back. The count is up to five. It’s six. It’s seven and eight. He won’t be able to do it. It’s all over. Mike Tyson has won it. Speaks almost fell back through. A dramatic first round knockout for Mike Tyson. Unbelievable streak. a team in the first round. After a short stint in prison, Tyson returned to the ring in August 1995 to face littleknown Peter McNeely. Tyson’s corner. Let’s get it on. McNeely attacked Tyson aggressively from the opening bell, but was met with a brutal right cross from Tyson, which set him down. McNeely, as advertised, comes right at Mike Tyson. Down goes McNeely. Seconds into the first round. Hey, hey, hey. 4 5 6 7 Reggie Gross appeared to be one of the few fighters who was ready to stand in there and trade punches with Iron Mike. However, what Tyson needed was just a perfect left hook to end the show. [Applause] 67. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Even as an amateur, Tyson was highly regarded for his incredible punching power. In 1981, he scored a quick first round knockout in just 8 seconds against Joe Cortez to win the Junior Olympic Games. Was a bomber. He’s trained by C no other than Custy Amato. Oh, and there it’s all over. [Applause] He’s all right. Doctor comes in. He’s not a lot of move until the doctor releases him. But we were saying that Tyson is coached by Custom Mato who had Floyd Patterson and Jesse Torres, two world champions. And that was as quick a knockout as you’ll ever see. And that was two devastating hooks. Two devastating short hooks. Notice there’s two physicians in there attending the young man. He will not be allowed to get up until he’s in perfect shape. Now he’s Oh, now the right combination. Steel steps in. Is it over? It’s over. It’s too soon. Following a controversial first meeting, Mike Tyson and Donovan Rodick met in a rematch to settle their rivalry in June 1991. We talked about in there. [Applause] Tyson shocked Rodic with a powerful right hand in round two. Oh, down goes Reick off an overhand right there. In his 20th professional fight, Tyson faced former WBA heavyweight title challenger James Tillis. for the WBA heavyweight title. It takes a veteran to understand that by punching Tyson would go the full distance for the first time in his professional career in the fight. But in round four, Tyson demonstrated his incredible speed and power as he floored Tillis with a short left hand. He got punched again. He lunges and it gets caught. The left hand drops Tillis onto the seat of his pants as round four is coming to a close. I’m not so sure that his left his right foot wasn’t stepped on causing that knockdown. There was definitely a punch, but I believe that Tillis’s right. 19-year-old Tyson entered the ring with a perfect record of 18 wins and 18 knockouts against Steve Zooi in March 1986. In the third round, Tyson landed a perfect left hook that ended the show in style. Ty’s head to go and there is a solid shots stayed up after that one. I don’t know. Doesn’t look like he’ll beat me. However, the explosive TNT Tubs was blown out in the second round by a vicious left hook. Tubs is hurt. Tubs is hurt badly. It was a left hook. And it’s over. Odell Hadley has jumped in the ring. The fight is over with stunning swiftness. [Applause] In February 1986, Tyson squared off against top contender Jesse Ferguson. In the fifth round, Tyson knocked Ferguson so hard that he broke his nose in the process. In both the first and 10th rounds, and now he’s in trouble here. Blood coming out from the nose of Jesse Ferguson. The right uppercut of Tyson has put him down. Six, seven, eight. In January 1986, Tyson faced Journeyman David Jacob in his 16th professional bout. It was just another day in the office for Tyson as he ended the fight with a vicious first round knockout. [Applause] Three. It’s all over. He should have He could have stopped that before. [Music] Unbeaten. Buster Mavis Jr. was expected to give Tyson a hard fight during their meeting in 1995. Mis was able to survive the first two rounds with Tyson, but at the end of round three, Tyson found an opening and unloaded a vicious attack that put Mavis down. Uppercut and boom goes Matis. See, he stepped back and did it again. Stepped off and around and ripped that uppercut to where Matthysse was ducking right into it. Nine 10. He didn’t beat the count. Mike Tyson found himself in serious trouble for the first time in his career in his title defense against James Buster Douglas. However, in round eight, Tyson’s powerful hand came to the rescue and sent Douglas crashing to the canvas. That all night. Oh, there’s a nice uppercot that time. The drop buster Douglas. The count’s up to two and three and four. In July 1989, Tyson defended his undisputed heavyweight championship against Carl the Truth Williams. Midway into the opening round, Tyson slipped a jab from Williams and came back with a monstrous left hook that floored the challenger. [Applause] Throughout his career, Tyson scored multiple first round knockout victories. However, his brutal left hook against Robert Kiln is one of his fastest and most devastating first round knockouts. Left hook. Good night. What a great shot. There’s a mandatory eight. They keep wheeling him out. He keeps knocking him over. Well, that has got to be one of the quickest. Tyson a little. In August 1986, Tyson faced one of his toughest opponents in the person of Cuban Jose Repalta. However, in round 10, Tyson demolished the towering Repalta with his signature left hook to the body, followed by a right uppercut to the chin. Mike Tyson is invited. And there was an uppercut. See, what a shot. Three. Wow. Six. You don’t see that happen. A guy gets knocked down with an uppercut for himself. It’s a rare. In November 1986, Tyson made history in his fight against Trevor Bourbick by becoming the youngest heavyweight champion. However, he also demonstrated the power in his left hand in round two when he knocked Bourbick out. Got his license catches him with a light left foot and he goes down. He goes down. He should be able to get up from this. His legs may be shut. They are as Trevor Berick falls back in the ropes. I don’t know if he’s going to be able to continue. He’s got the heart, but his body won’t let him do what his mind wants to. And he’s counted out. It’ll be scored as a knockout. Bill’s Lane counting him out to 10. It’s all over. We’ve got a brand new heavyweight champion of the world, Mike Tyson. Well, Bervik was brave and only going in of round one. And from about the midway point in round one, he couldn’t do anything. There’s Jimmy Jacobs in there. Bill Kaitton also works with him. A very happy Don King. Kevin Rooney congratulates this champion. Jose Torres there in the ring with Mike as well. Former light heavyweight champion of the world. Trevor is disappointed. In June 2000, 33-year-old Mike Tyson faced Lavare. Good luck to you both. 20 of his 41. Barely 15 seconds into the fight, Tyson landed a hard left shot to the head that put Savise down. His Mike’s only got one speed. It’s forward within seconds. Down goes Savage. [Applause] A left hook by Mike Tyson. And within seconds, Saves is down on the canvas. I told you Sav Reese was going to underestimate his speed and his power. Following two back-to-back losses to Evander Holyfield, Tyson returned to the ring in 1999 to take on South African contender Franabotha. And if this pace is fast, which Mike knows no other way. Tyson appeared rusty in the early going, but a straight right hand at the end of round five was all he needed to end the show. Better when you can’t get off punches. Oh, a down goes Boba. That’s all it took. One shot. He may not get up. Both are stumbling around. Eight. Nine. Can he make it? It’s over. It’s over. Mike Tyson has returned. One right hand. One right hand equals neutralizes everything that was happening to him. That’s what happens when you got a great puncher. That’s all it takes. Ladies and gentlemen, in his first fight after his loss to Lennox Lewis, Tyson squared off against Clifford. This would ultimately be Tyson’s last victory in the ring, but also one of his most vicious one-punch knockouts in just 49 seconds. Oh, there it is. Right hand to the head and AT. No way.
