KILLEN, Ala. –The Southeastern Louisiana University men’s golf team earned a second-place finish at the Turtle Point Invite, which wrapped up Tuesday at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club.
Southeastern finished with a tournament score of 862 (-2) to claim its highest finish of the 2025-26 season. The Lions were one of two teams to shoot under par for the week, as host North Alabama claimed team medalist honors at -22.
For the second straight week, SLU saw a freshman post a top-10 finish in the individual standings. Gavin Ingram carded an even-par 72 in Tuesday’s final round to finish eight-under par for the tournament, good for a tie for sixth place.
Last week’s top 10 finisher, David Marsh and teammate Noah Bumgarner finished tied for 32nd place at +5 for the week. Patrick Blaum shot the low round of the day Tuesday for SLU, shooting a 71 to move up to a tie for 37th place (+6) in the final standings.
Lorenzo Palmieri (+7, T43rd). who competed as an individual, and Colby Sullivan (+8, T45th) rounded out the SLU representatives. Alabama’s Brycen Jones (-16) claimed individual medalist honors.
Southeastern led the field with a -17 score on par-5 holes this week, while also finishing with a tournament-high 168 pars on the week.
The Lions will look to close out the fall portion of its 2025-26 slate on a high note next week, heading to Mathews, La. for the LaTour Intercollegiate, which runs Monday and Tuesday.
