KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team sits atop the leaderboard after the first two rounds of The Scrappy at Cobblestone, held Monday at Cobblestone Golf Course.
The Owls posted team scores of 1-over-par 285 and 3-over-par 287 for a 36-hole total of 4-over-par 572. KSU holds a 10-shot lead over second-place Tennessee Tech in the 11-team field heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Senior Shaun Cook paced the Owls and is tied for second at even-par 142 after rounds of 69 and 73. Cook recorded six birdies on the day.
Luca Gallingani (71-72) and Kyle Bachkosky (74-69) are tied for fourth at 1-over-par 143. Bachkosky’s 2-under-par 69 in the second round tied Cook’s first round 69 for KSU’s lowest of the day.
Walker Gantt is tied for eighth at 2-over-par 144 following rounds of 71 and 73. Gantt closed strong, playing his final five holes at 2-under.
Hunter Gillard sits in a tie for 41st at 10-over-par 152 (75-77).
Four Owls are competing as individuals and are also tied for 41st: Josh Ledford (79-73) and Reed Sweigart (74-78), both at 10-over-par 152.
Ryan Nicholson (76-78) is tied for 54th at 12-over-par 154, while Joshua Todd is in 62nd place at 17-over-par 159 (75-84).
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes. Play is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., with the Owls teeing off from the first hole between 8:45 and 9:21 a.m.
