Rahm & Hatton vs DeChambeau & Thomas | Full Match Highlights | 2025 Ryder Cup

Ladies and gentlemen, good morning and welcome to the first day of the 45th RDER Cup. This is match number one, a forsome match between the European team represented by John Rom and Terrell Hatton against the United States of America team represented by Bryson D. Shambo and Justin Thomas. Here we go. First on the tea representing Europe, John Rom. [Applause] Keegan Bradley said he wanted to lead with a spark. This is that man Bryson Dashambo to the tea. [Applause] Wow. Exactly how they planned it right there. That was awesome. That was awesome. What an opening moment for Team USA. [Applause] USA. Little bit of luck involved here. You heard how tough that was when you make contact. It’s okay. Doors open for USA. Good angle for Thomas really. Right to left coming up over the slope. needs to pitch this far enough. Very easy to leave this one short because only a couple of yards behind the flag. Looking at a wall of grass over the green. So, needs to get this out low and chase him. But this must pitch up on top otherwise it will pull up pretty quickly. It’s the perfect leaf. [Music] Oh, that leaves the door. J. It’s a tough shot for your opening shot in the RA Cup. Let me tell you, no matter how good you are. All right, up to the green with Europe to put first for Birdie off the right hand side. Speed’s good. Oh, it’s not perfect. Oh, that was right in the middle. Beautiful pop though. He’s the kind of guy that lives for this drama. that lives for these moments. Bryson Dashambo with all the crowds. It was a perfect drive. This for the icing on the cake to go one up through one in a home rider cup. So far, this hole is kind of gone exactly the way the US has wanted, right? I mean, Bryson just bombs it down the middle. JT with a solid solid chip, but this is a putt to take the lead. Get that big first roar for the US side. He just got a great read from John didn’t mind. Perfect pace, too. What a start from Bryson Dambo and Justin Thomas. [Applause] And to Justin Thomas, we go at the second. A very simple hole. Uh number two, this is a very kind of benign start. Um, you can really get after these first four holes here and it’s important for both teams to get off to a good start. JT looks like he’s just got a 3-wood trying to hit the fairway. They love it. Picks up the tea quickly right down the middle. You can see the ball just kind of splat in that fairway. You can see all the mud that’s kind of been attached to the ball. Now Tier’s turn. First the dog leg right, the dog leg left. Get your draws and fades in order. That’s perfect. Hey Greg, that’s a great read on. Can see why. Thank goodness, right? Thank goodness was good decision. And Bryson Dashambo pin on the front right today. He’s had the perfect start and wants to continue it right here. With all that rain, I’m interested in how the ball’s going to spin on these greens. There it goes. Solid shot. Got it. Look at that. Getting better and getting better. Getting better. Well, well judged. Something similar to the Shambos. [Music] That’s it. It’s going to keep going. [Music] So tough to judge those. Haten versus Bernie. USA about 12 ft pin high right. Beautiful effort. Back to two for Justin Thomas for another win for the USA. Good chance, really good chance to win the hole for the USA. Really very little in this. Great try by Tier, but just too far away, too much spin. So this for the perfect start. [Applause] kind of left all the way, right? It never really actually looked like it was in. So interesting. Dodged a bullet there for the the European side there. Well played hole. Just boy, you don’t want to give Rumbo and Hatton too many opportunities to come back in this match. Desambo one up after two. D shot at three. This is going left. Is it? Sure is. shortsided here on 212 yard par three spotter going to go over there and check it out try and find pin high 212 good path three the third looks a touch left as well That was a surprise. Yeah. Couple of tough leaves down the left side at three. Plug ball for Europe. So Tur has it in his hand. He’ll get to drop it. Pitching into the bank of the bunker. So that’s a break. Sand feels looks heavy to me. Justin Thomas on the side slope. Pretty agreeing with actually green to work with on this side slope. So actually he can get this one pretty close. Just needs to hold his balance. Feels damp out here. That’s beautiful. [Applause] Quickly to three for Tier Hatton. Even better. Well, Jez, great shot there to tie the hole for team USA, which they do. The USA remain one up out in the opening match. First wow moments I think you have on Beth Paige Black standing on this tea double dog leg par five the fourth Justin Thomas ready to unleash. Yeah, you’re spot on, Allie. Great hole up the hill. Bunkers up the left side. Just like so many this week. You’ve just got to pick your line and stick to it. Not much of a penalty of missing the fairways, but certainly fairways are premium. Yeah, especially with preferred lies, Anthony. Oh, one of the best in the business off the tea. Turl Hatton and John Ram for that matter. the US in the right rough. Great opportunity for the European side. All right, let’s jump up to the fourth and Bryson Dashambo with the second. Boys got to be really inspecting these balls when you’re in the rough and you can’t get your hand on it and making sure there’s no mud, there’s no anything on it so you can have a understanding what it goes. That was a great shot just short of the green. Lam plenty of height on this one. Carry that corner. Only 194 into the par five. Big shot. Wow. Boy, that stopped quickly. All right, this is the view for the US side down here at four. Awkward. It’s an awkward angle. It’s not the greatest of Lee’s Shambo. Sort of going to kick forward and right. Lie is so so. But couple of feet, maybe three feet below the level of the green. So he needs some height on this Jin Thomas just to maybe just to impart a little bit more spinning because it can run away from him here. Perfection almost great touchs around the greens. Justin Thomas is a wonderful all round player. chance outside chance it will move right to left but I don’t think it’s as much as you think but if it if it’s low it could run three maybe four foot by so Hatton maybe just needs to be aware just a hair on this down the hill so it’s just didn’t turn. Good speed. You can’t believe it didn’t turn. P conceded. Hall Adish Shambo. Fifth hole. T’s picked up quickly. Should be perfect. Not quite. As Hunter said at the beginning, the rough nothing like what they normally play with here. You heard it there. Beauty right down the dead middle of the fairway. Prime spot 160 for Turl Allison. P is just tucked really. So ideally you don’t want to mess around with that front right hand bunker. Just maybe just past and left this third hole in five that’s been uphill. So it’s hard to see and judge the second shot. Wow. Like it left. I just hate the visual on this cuz I can’t see the pin. Every time I look up where I’m at, [Music] Justin from the right rough. Not the angle you’d like to a front right flag going left. Oh, great shot though. Just left of the flag. Perfect distance. Let’s go to John Ram right in the heart of the fifth green for his birdie. Oo, that was a poor one. Hunter. Yes. And a good chance once more. That’s been the difference in this match for just Shambo. Feel like America have been half the distance in these first five holes. Giving themselves chances shape from left to right down the hill. Europe still have work to do this for the win. [Music] Good putt. Probably just a little bit harder than he was hoping for. Great camera angle here for us. For Hatton, it looks pretty straight. Very nice. Shambo and Thomas stay one up. Thomas right to left just trying to hold this fairway. Everything cam was away at six. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Tough to tell whether that did just scamper through the corner. It’s about 280 or so to the the top of the slope that feeds uh down into the second half of the fairway. Yeah, absolutely. They’ve widened the left side by five and the right side by 10 with spinny greens once more. Premium is trying to hit a soft shot with the second. Gerald looks to be playing nice. He will hold butter. That was not easy. Left riding up the hill. So vibes are good even though they’re down. This is way left as you can see on American’s arms. That is not pretty. [Applause] Maybe plugged. Someone spotted it. Yeah. Interesting. Interesting. European lie is poor. He can get to the back of the ball. John Ram, but probably 75 yds or so. It’d be a big ass to hit the green. danger. Maybe sometimes you just catch the top of the club’s the only issue here on such a severe downs slope. [Music] Well, given the circumstances where the European ball is, that was excellent from Dshambo. Yeah, heavy one as I mentioned on the ups slope. This ball is going to come out pretty slow. He can get to the back of the ball. John Ram, but he’s going to need all his might. Yeah, it’s a bit of acceptance here, isn’t there? Just find the green really. They’re under the hole, which is a great spot with a great chance. So, there’s big pressure at the minute. Nice, John. Wow. Oh, wow. What a great shot from the Europeans. Nice response. Fireworks in this top match. I’m not sure America expected Rahm to hit it where he’s hit it. And yes, they wouldn’t have really seen it, but they could have seen how deep he was in the grass. This is all pace for Justin Thomas up the hill. Should move left or right. Tur’s got the stairs at the minute. He’s focused. How will he recover from such a wide? Hard to pick a line here. It will move down the hill. I’m sure he wasn’t expecting to pop first, but he is. This is for Birdie. Europeans closer. Just outside left. That was a cup left. That was just too much. So big chance for Europe. This would be Sammon match play. You you have to expect the surprises, don’t you? Oh, absolutely. From the other team. Yeah. You expect them to hold everything they’re hitting at. Oh, what a moment, Sam. This is It certainly is. What a win this would be. But this could be a two-hole swing from nowhere. Quite honestly, no visuals, no light, just pure talent. I just feel that P from Thomas possibly lacked a little bit of pace. Wait, all putts quite aggressive. He’s sort of quite punchy with his putting stroke. This might suit him here because there’s not much in this. I think that might have revealed it for him. He would have been expecting 30 ft I would imagine. So golden chance finally for Europe. This the square of the match. No, just went left in the next not given either. Golden opportunity to send a shock wave through the uh US side there. given away for Ramen Hatton. Looks a lot farther from this angle, I must be honest. Yeah, definitely not the circle of friendship. No, no, not at all. That circle gets smaller as well the longer the match continues. Yeah, as it should. This is the pinnacle of men’s golf. Yeah, there’s really no reason to give him this putt. Very good. Very good. That was important after the T-shot. A great half for Europe. So they stay one down, the US up in two, and Europe up in two in the first session of Forsomes here in the 45th Rider Cup. That’s how it looks at the moment. Even bidding between the two teams here at Beth Page Black 530 par 4 doesn’t seem right, but it is. That’s magnificent. And he’s taken a massive bite out of it with that drive. I mean, a tough course. The level of play to this point has been phenomenal from both sides. And that was a little bit of a slip off the tea there for Rom. It seemed like 220 for Thomas. Hatton’s actually got the perfect line in, but there’s a there’s a big stick in front of his ball, an acorn almost holding the ball up. Bryson is hovering watching every move he makes at the minute. Till I believe he can move the stick. Anyway, back to Thomas. Middle of the fairway. 220. Quite a small little entrance to this seventh green. Needs to be on his guard. This is no do no doable thing. It’s way left. The door is open for a USA downs slope. Not a great lie. That is a tough one. I think the only thing that’ll happen Oh, there’s the live that Anthony was talking about. That’s interesting. Looks like a little bit of Jenga over there, Anthony. Very much so. Very much so. I I believe he can move that. I think the acorn’s holding the ball up, but it’s a big risk. There’s a gap between it. It is minuscule, but it’s a risk, but it makes the shot so much easier cuz the line is fine. The stick looks easily moved. You want a steady hand. You need to be a surgeon’s hands here. Jenga with a bit more pressure, Sam. Yeah, this is a game of operation. Oh, here we go. Well, you know, he can hit the ball without hitting anything. If it’s really in the way of the follow through, he has to try and move it. If not, just play it. He’s going to hit that ball first if he’s coming from where we’re looking. I’m with you, Sam. I I I think just hit the ball. I don’t see the ball ricocheting off that stick. No. Why take a chance? Oh, god. He kicked it or he kicked the other one. He kicked the other one. Don’t do that. We’ve all done that. Oh my. I my heart skipped for a second. How do you think his was? Yeah. He’s got the wrong colors on him. My heart still skipped. It’s I wish we could see it from high up here. We’re going to see it now. It’s the other stick right here. He’s going to step on, but it jars the stick by the ball. Yeah. Oh, it’s Oh, that stick has a has a bend in it around the front of the ball. He where he comes in the back of the ball, the angle we’re looking, that’s why he’s wanting to move it. Yes. Now we see what Anthony was talking about. Yeah. It was interesting though cuz when he when he clipped that and obviously they can’t see it in slow-mo. It It didn’t move the ball, so it is sitting freely. Yeah. They’d love to see that replay. He’s got a good two gap, but it’s a big Well, where the Americans are down slop in that left bunker. I’m sure they know that. So, he’s not going to move. He’s just going to get a good contact on the ball. We’ve all got our fingers crossed. Yeah, 182. I believe he can play this. I think that stick isn’t as thick and as heavy as it looks, which is important. And I think he can get to the back and just pop it through the line is fine. Sher good flight’s good. How’s the line? Oh, good. Oh, it’s excellent. Well, Wally. Well, after the T- shots, incredible that European has the advantage on this hole. This is not easy. If anyone’s capable of playing, it’s this man. Yes. Oh, beautiful. That really was special from Dambo. [Applause] Yeah, both these guys have great short games. [Applause] Well, these matches can all come down to decisions. The one not to move the stick paid off. now with a chance to win the hole. John Ram, you’d see the American marker but 5T. Oh, lovely speed. That should be conceded. Leave the Americans a little tricky one. Now this is a tricky one for the half. Be a great half after the second shot. Slightly left to right. Maybe dead straight but firm. Sam, do you like Because you have to make it. If you miss it, doesn’t matter. You like taking a little bit more speed, taking some breakout, or you just hit it your normal pace? 100% normal. I never go the other way. Got to hit the pot in the in the tournament. Let’s just roll it in. See he’s hit that bit harder. That’s gone nearly 3 ft past. Didn’t take the break. Back to all square. The pressure applied from Tier Hatton’s second shot from over in the trees forcing the issue. And a strip of red vanishes from the leaderboard over on the right. Yeah, absolutely. Probably down about 5 89 for Tur. Wouldn’t have thought he got the honor when he saw the ball in the air at seven, but he’s got it. See a beautiful line. Oh, it’s a wonderful shot from Manhattan. Wonderful shot. 189 in between seven and eight down the hill for Thomas. Ideally, you want to be under the hole. Don’t really want to be past this flag. It’s a severe green. Doesn’t look it, but it is. Hooked his last iron shot. He’s pulled it slightly, but it’s still okay on the green. That’s a fine shot from American D. The Shambo first to put on the par 38. Europeans just inside them. But this is very makeable as Wally said it’s very quick. Just went left on him. So a chance for Europe to get up in the first match up and down all the way. Moisture on the greens making this one slightly easier. Not much in it up the hill for John Ram for the two and the win. Oh, absolutely dead center. Europe go up in the first three matches. One up, three up, three up. It’s a great start for Europe. Yeah, lovely. Lee Troino said at the belfry in 1985, “The only way to shut up the crowds with was birdies.” John R. Yep. Great swing. We’re here. So, it should be perfect. Just gone one up. He’s trying to put the foot on the pedal. I think that was down to the metal. And I think this might be as well for Bryson Dambo. This dog leg left par four. Looks like he’s aiming right trying to play a draw. That bunker in the corner not in play for either one of those guys. Beautifully done. They say Bryson’s long. Ram out drove him. Ram’s no slouch. [Applause] 140. Thomas spinny front of the green here. just needs to be aware of that. Love playing first into a green like this. Has to pitch this past the flag. [Applause] Thomas shouldn’t miss the green from there. Yeah, he’s been a little loose with his iron play to here. Yeah, just that little ledge. I think it just you want to keep it on that right side. It’s easy to spin it away from it. 132 for Tier. Door is open. A jar, should we say? A slight uphill lie there for Hatton. Once again, the green spinning so much because of the soft conditions, but feeding off that front fringe closer to the hole. He’s a great watch. I I love watching Hatton. Let’s look at the ninth green. Good fun out here, Ellie. Light’s not bad, is it? I can see it now, Anthony. It’s not. Yeah. Okay. Only thing I would say is the grain’s heavy and it’s into him, dead into him. So, this should release down the hill quite comfortably. Being so close to the hole just possibly makes this slightly harder. He’s looking at this uh Anthony like he’s trying to read it like a putt. I think he is happy with the lie. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be taking such dead aim. It seems. Yeah, it’s interesting watching good chippers. They really pick a point, don’t they? But it’s so important for everybody at home. You know, he’s not looking at the hole. He’s looking at his pitch point. Then he reads the roll out from the pitch. But great look here that he doesn’t have much to work with. The soft conditions hurt him there. These guys are so used to pitching to firm greens. When they get soft greens, kind of throws them out a little bit. Oh, great chance for Ramp. Yeah, very much so. Right to left. I don’t think it will do quite as much as it appears. Just a hair down the hill. What a chance. This match has turned completely in the last 25 minutes. And these are moments you can really, really make such a difference. You know, Anthony, we were talking at dinner last night. Just the presence of Ram and Hatton. I felt like Europe was definitely favored in this game. If these if this putt goes in, they’ve got momentum and holes start running out quickly. He was just looking for more break. That was a lucky break there for the US. Now Dambo. Yeah. 219 Alli from a good spot. Big sloppy green. Lot of green left of this flag. It’s gone left. Should be on the green, but way left. That’s an opening for Europe. These guys are good. Yeah. Strong hole. They are good. Very good. Once more. Pin high. That’s the key. 10. Strong 200 for Europe. Maybe half a club into out of the left. Just just a hair. Naturally just drifting this in. Suits him perfectly for John Ram here. Quiet far end of the golf course. Bit of relief for the players. Yeah. Right hole location, Anthony. This should be a green light special for ROM. Oh, big cut he’s trying to put on this. It stayed left though. It’s not coming back to the flag. That was a poor one from Ram. Still slightly inside the Americans. Well, Tier stalks this one. We welcome into the uh commentary box, Ryder Cup player from 2014 and Steven Gallagher. Stevie, good to see you. Good morning everyone. And what a morning for Europe. I think Captain Donald will be he’ll be happy just now. What’s ahead of Tier here, Wally? Yeah, he’ll be happy. Yeah, up the hill. Both putts outside chances, but I think up the hill it gives you a chance because you can give them a little bit of a hip. Both actually won’t do as much as they look. This is the straighter one of the two. That’s a pretty good putt right there because of the uphill that Anthony mentioned and he got it in there. And that’s gimme range. Just what you want. No pressure on your partner. All right, back to the 10th green we go. Justin Thomas, left to right. Same deal. uphill. Possibly a slightly harder putt to win the hole for America to grab one back on one of the hardest holes out here. 10. Similar P. Tough outside chance really to hold that. You you just knock that up half and get to the next. Steven, you’ve been busy this week captaining the Junior Rider Cup as well. Not quite the result that you wanted. Uh going down what was that 17 and 1/2 and 12 to 12. 11th T. John Ram bunkers left and right. Not the widest of fairways. Carry the traps. It opens up beautifully. [Music] [Applause] That’s a brilliant drive by Ram there. That’s all he’s got to do on the tea. Just keep putting pressure on. And it’s in that first cut of rough, but a great angle of back left hole location. Yeah, agreed. Another quite slloy green from back to front. So, actually, I think the rough might help him take a bit of spinoff back into the breeze for America trying to do something similar. He’s munched that that is slightly in the middle of the fairway. All the grass in the fairway has been mowed from T green where at Augusta they mow it from green to T. So you’re always playing down grain with your second shots. Makes a big difference. mud on the front of the ball trying to chip this one in. Looking short for Tur. Can tell from his reaction, Stevie, that that came off a little a little odd with the contact. It’s amazing. A little bit of mud in the ball can just knock your concentration a little bit. Gives a little bit of outside agency. Tried to chip it in a little bit low, maybe knock the knock the the dirt off it, but he’s not happy with that. You can see it. Yeah, didn’t ever really look like he put enough effort into that swing. It always looks short from my angle. 115. Justin Thomas from the prime spot needs to pitch this up by the hole once more. A spinny green in these damp morning conditions. [Music] Yeah, that’s a great shot there. You could see he was just gripping down the the wedge there just to control the spin. Yeah, right on the right level. That’s a that’s a great great chance as we go to Ram. Slow putt from the front part of the green up a hill. You could just see the change of grain there J up the hill. See it was very very slow at the top. [Applause] One hole further down on the 11th is Dashambo. Yeah, here’s a chance. It’s left to right, but for me it’s it’s almost holding wanting to move left at the end. It feels like a a new bit of green here at the back alley for Bryson. Quite a lot of discussion cuz I do think there is a bit of bit of movement which feels against the slope which is unusual. So maybe just straightening the last three four feet. So working hard to line this one up is to win the hole. There is work left to do for Europe. Straight up the hill. Three, four feet. I think you’ll see some animation if this goes in to try and get the crowd work to try and get the crowd going. And not only did he miss, he didn’t lose his turn. Oh, that was Wow. I mean, I think his eyes got too big for that one, Steve. Yeah, I think Well, he called it. It just moved a bit at the end. It It looked in the whole way and then and when it hits the lip, it can actually accelerate a little bit and it’s went a good 4 foot past. This is missable coming back. Yeah, absolutely. Forcing it there for me, Stevie. check. That was a drop in. That wasn’t a forced effort. That’s what happens when you look at the board though and there’s no red. There’s a board on the left swing. Not pretty reading at the minute. So, the pendulum keeps on swinging. And by far the weakest point of Justin Thomas’ game is his putting. He’s really improved from two years ago. Nicely done. But wow, that was an opportunity missed. Just wasn’t holding speed as Anthony said. Still work left for Hatton, but I think it’s a pretty easy putt. Shouldn’t have much break to it. These greens are so pure. These are so pure. Just to tidy up Tur stay one up. Tough stretch coming up. also running out of holes. America, thanks for that reminder. Sorry, J. It’s okay. I took it on the chin. Hole is tied in the end and a bit of an escape there from John Ram and Tier Hatton as Dashambo misses a beat. That’s the thing now though, they just can’t really make many mistakes America at all when you get to this level of the game. Hugging the left side ideally Stevie for Hatton. [Music] Doesn’t even need to Oh, he thought that was going to carry to the fairway. I just surprised. You know, the thing though, J, is the rough’s so minimal down that left side that you get you’re you’re hitting a club less. So, it’s worth it. It’s worth even taking the rough one down the left cuz you you’ve got a chance now with the greens being soft to get on the right level. I was very disappointed when I saw the setup of the course, Anthony, with the lack of rough. Yeah, a little disappointing for me. It’s exactly the play up that left side. It will make the whole 10, 15 yards shorter. So, I think the same play for America here. just hug that left side and just take it on. Of course, the American team, you know, they’re able to set up the course the way they think is best for their team and both balls look to be good. Rom now from a similar position. Yeah, four yards closer. Well, the green looks massive all of a sudden. That was a a big mistake shortsiding yourself. The Dshamos pin high. All you need to do give yourself a putt. It’s the flattest P on the green. Just looking right at this. That’s a great shot there. I think Bryson sort of opened the door a little bit the other day Jay. Just John didn’t need to chase it. No 100%. Take half a club less. Keep it below the hole. As we go into the first match with Justin Thomas, he’s got chipping all over this Ellie. Good lie. Enough green just for it to release out. He’s a master is Justin Thomas. Loads of loft, loads of speed, but a beautiful one at four. That was really quite difficult. It made look easy. This is simple. Face wide open. Just like a bunker shot here. He will fancy this. There’s no question about it. He’s in there quick. He’s not messing around. Get in the hole. Yeah. Wonderful. One of the best short games on PGA Tour is Thomas. You can see kind of Oh, I could have chipped that in. They’re both working hard here. I I saw right to left early on and edging back to quite straight. They were deep in discussion for a good 30 seconds both sides actually. So far, no one really held anything of any note. This one flattens quite nicely. So, this is a good chance for Tur. And a chance to go two up in that opening match as he rids himself of a a tiny visitor. [Applause] Now, good look here. normally has great pace. He’ll tell you what he thinks about it as well. Oh, it’s a beautiful part, Terrell. Lots of Europeans in the crowd there. Look, the flags are flying. You got it right there, Jay. Never never looked like missing, did it? Never looked like missing. Your 1%’s down to half a percent now, Jay. I think 0%. Not quite. Back in the trees at 13. Reachable par five. Trees right, bunkers left. Fairway must be found to have a go at this in two. Great swing Rambo is always a good sign. 186 mph ball speed as well. Good sign for one team. Bryson will be trying to get it past him now. No doubt. Oh, he’d be cranking this one up for sure. Yeah, I mean Ram in the last sort of hour for me. The ball speed’s definitely gone up once he found his rhythm. Feel like he’s holding back just slightly to Shambo. He hasn’t really unleashed one yet. Almost steering a fraction. Maybe the first T was the only one. Yeah, the only place you can’t go here is left of the bunker. Right. Rough once you get past that corner tree is not a bad spot. But two wonderful T- shots and everyone talks about the distance of Dambo Ram’s been out there with him all day. Yeah. And that’s with soft soft ground. So that’s just all fly. We go down to Justin Thomas at 13. Small target. Really small target. 284 260 in chains of front. So not a problem. I would say at least one will hit the green here at 13. So, who gets in there first? Thomas, wonderful fairway medal player. Can’t miss it right. Do not miss it right down a bank. Oh, hit and volunteer. Just short of the bunker. I think that’s a good break there, Jay. That was a huge break. That looked to us to be going in the longer rough. I think he took that for the team. They need all the help they can get. 283. One yard closer. Once more, the door is a jar, but it’s not many feet to find the putting surface. Pin all the way back there or thereabouts is good. [Music] Oh, that ball really settled down. That’s going to be a difficult one. The Americans have a lot more green to work with. Good line. Really good line coming from quite down below this green. It’s hard to judge. Very easy to leave this short for Dambo at 13. Europe’s not got the greatest lie, but it’s all very much in front of him. So there’s plenty to work from where this is quite hard I think to muscle it up and get it running cuz it otherwise it might just catch the ridge and just just pull up quite quickly. Has the modern due not uh went out the rough aren’t it? Cuz you see them cleaning the club all the time. Yes, it’s really my feet can tell you how wet it is out here. I can assure you they are soaked. Yeah, he has to have this running a little bit. as a ridge that runs right across the back step of this green. Yeah, just what Anthony thought that was the danger. Yeah, good call Anthony 213 and Ram Ram just just hanging on for the media just at the back of this 13th green. Li’s not great as I said but he has got green left or right needs a lot of loft on this. This needs to be struck. That’s actually pretty good. Pretty good. And inside of the Americans, both sides putting for birdie at 13 as the chance start to ring through. Beth Paige Black. Double breaker for Thomas. Looking slightly puzzled, it has to be said here. It’s up and over the ridge. Dshambo didn’t manage to get over. It’s a hard one to find a birdie for. I think if they want any chance of even getting a half out of this, this has to go in. Haven’t held a putt in a while. Just overboarded it a little bit. The river’s run dry for Justin Thomas and Bryson Dashambo ever since the bogey at seven. Terrell Hatton at 13 to win the hole. Very much so. Make a ball cutting through the shadow of Tier Hatton here off his left as the cheers keep ringing. The European cheers doesn’t seem to phase Turo. We straight in here. straight in the middle. Just brilliant putt. Great emotion. Look at that. All the carries teamwork. What I’m looking at is three up, five up, four up. That’s three points for the Europeans right there. There’s no there’s there’s no coming back from those. There is a very familiar face, especially for team USA. He’s actually a really good friend of Luke Donald as well from Luke’s time in Chicago. Michael Jordan gripping down a nine iron. Terrell Hatton front flag very accessible par three today. [Applause] [Music] It’s just a brilliant shot when you’re three up. Fantastic shot there by Terrell Harten. So smart using the slope behind. knew it was going to spin with the soft conditions. I mean, Rahm and Hatton just seem to have such a camaraderie. Of course, they they play together a lot in the same tour. They’re they’re used to being around each other, traveling, and all that kind of stuff. And they just I think they have, you know, kind of personalities that really mesh. Listen to that fantastic crowd. Almost the Europeans are louder than the Americans, which they are, but then they’re trying to keep up. So it’s 50% really 50/50 at the minute right hand side of the tea. This has only got one shape attached to this add to the spin. So it should be looking long. Wind is off the right what there is. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] That’s a super reply there by Justin Thomas. Exactly what team America needed. Even Maple Jordan is happy with that one for the two has to be said the easier putt of the two. Slightly further away but only inches for Dambo through the shadow up the hill. There you go. That’s a bit of confidence there. Trying to get the trying to get the crowd alive. Yeah, Justin Thomas joining in as well. That’s exactly what it needs, Hunter. They need something. They need They need a boost somewhere for sure. Right. Even if even if John makes this putt, right, that this the ball going in making a birdie kind of gives them some just some momentum for themselves, right, to to keep going, right? So, but John’s had quite a few of these in his day and he’s answered the call and this is why these guys are in the first first group. Just a hair down the hill. Hole is actually quite flat. So I don’t think there’s much in this overall, but pace is obviously key coming slightly across the slope for the half [Music] big unbelievable unbelievable now you’ll see John fist pumping in the and now the tide swung again to the European crowd we hear this is incredible you know in these RER cups there’s nothing better than that. Right. Right there to have that moment and to make the putt to to kind of cap the other team and sort of stop their momentum. 300 the left hand side to carry the corner at 15 with a slight hurt in the air. He didn’t hold back there. No. My goodness. He’s been keeping up with the Shimbo all day. I mean, we talking about his distance, right? Shameless distance and Rom’s right there. [Music] Let’s check in with our outcome IQ with the AI powered by Cap Gemini. And look at the outcome, the probabilities to win the match. 95% to John Ramen, Turrell Hatton, 1% to Bryson Dashambo and Justin Thomas. But there’s still a chance, albeit slim. Yeah, always a chance to crank this up. Big high draw. Two absolute nothing left swings there. I think that’s just because I think that hit the hospitality. I think it’s just because the rough’s so light. Let’s just get it as far down as we can with the front hole location. And that’s the way the course has been set up basically by Keegan Bradley. You know, it’s just to hit it as hard and as far the the dog legs are irrelevant. Just smash it and they’re off. Yeah. Got to place it. Got to clean it. The lie is good. 178 playing nearly 190 up a steep hill. Ready to fly. pin on the way front part just sticks on while that ball flies way well past it. That is not the position you want to be in on that hole. That came out a long way further than what he was trying to do. 164 from the far right hand corner for Hatton. He’s got to be flag hunting here. 164 just trying to land it right at the flag. It’s a great shot. Brilliant shot. Hatton keeps the hammer down out in that opening match and Justin Thomas knows it right now. We can see Justin there say to one of the guys, you know, where is it? And it went long and he hit his hand because I think he thought it was a great shot he hit. All right, 15 green wallally. What’s ahead? Yeah, you’re right. There’s not many smiles around at the minute. It’s almost dead weighting this from the top of the ridge. This is really difficult to lay dead and with Europe in there pretty tight. Just a hair down the hill left to right for them. You got to think this could be curtains. This is hard to get stone dead for Dishambo. Almost dropping this from the top of the slope. Trying to pick the line. Visualize it. Feel is naturally built in. Big break. Huge break. [Music] That’s a good pop from there from Bryson. You see how quick that was at the end. Back to the scene at 15. The birdie part to win the match ahead of John Ram. And after a clutch half at the last, completely different complexion here. Left to right again. Quick having an extra look. Little shocking to leave it short there. was in a downhill putt and just knew he just wanted to let it tear drop over that hole and just didn’t hit it hard enough. This is JT to stay in the match up the hill. He can be super aggressive with it. It has to go. It’s been called the heartbeat of the US side. They need the defib machine right now. Oh my goodness. Just the pace. Captain Luke, he’ll be delighted. Absolutely delighted with us. The first point of the 45th RDER Cup goes on the board and it goes the way of Europe. a 4 and3 victory to the dominant pair of John Ram and Tier Hatton. Ram proves a 5-0 en forms. I mean, my goodness, just dominant, man. De I mean, they demolished them, right? It’s amazing. To watch another Ryder Cup video, click here and subscribe here.

  1. We have the best fans.

Shameful how Hovland got half a point for his team when he admitted he only didn't play because he "didn't feel he could play to the level that he knows he can"…

awarding half a point for being afraid that he would lose…. that rule needs to go and it's unreal that Donald defended it.

  2. Fools, oh how they cheered Rahms 1st tee shot into a bit of long grass. Suppose they had to take their tiny wins whilst they could
