Northern Colorado welcomes a brand new golf experience with the opening of Bella Ridge Golf Club. Located in southwest Johnstown, just east of Interstate 25, this public access course sits on what was once fertile farmland. Now transformed into a rolling par 72 layout, Bella Ridge features more than 200 ft of elevation change, wide fairways, over 50 bunkers, and breathtaking views of Long’s Peak. Preview play is underway this fall, though tea times are limited and amenities are still being completed, including a driving range. The Potberg family, who ran a dairy farm on the land for over 45 years, invested more than 8 years into designing and building the course. As a family who has spent our entire lives in Johntown, it’s an incredible honor to bring this course to our community. Rick Podberg said, “We always felt this land with its elevation changes, lakes, and spectacular mountain views was meant for golf. This course will be a timeless amenity, a place for connection, recreation, and lasting memories. Bella Ridge is professionally managed by Troun Golf and designed by Colorado native art shopper who has crafted or renovated over a dozen courses across six states including TPC Colorado in Berth and Highland Meadows in Windsor. The course will play anywhere from just over 3,000 yd to more than 7,200 yd offering undulating fairways, water hazards, and a challenge for golfers of all skill levels. Full course access is expected in 2026 once surrounding facilities are complete. Looking ahead, Bella Ridge will feature a 400yard practice range, a dedicated short game area, a 15,000 square ft putting green, professional instruction for juniors and adults, and a year-round indoor golf simulator. The clubhouse will offer a full pro shop and dining at Virgil’s Lounge, though currently golfers will access the course through a temporary entrance with beverages available via cart service. Tea times and pricing will use a dynamic system that adjusts in real time based on demand, time of day, day of the week, and how far in advance you book. Morning and weekend tea times during peak demand may be priced higher, while weekday afternoons could be more affordable. For October 2025, preview tea times are currently listed around $80 to $85.
