Xander Schauffele may have had injury problems this year, but he has managed to maintain his bid for one of the most impressive records on the PGA Tour.
Schauffele landed his first victory in 15 months at the Baycurrent Classic in Japan, where he held off Max Greyserman to clinch the title by one shot thanks to a closing 64.
The limited-field 78-man event did not have a halfway cut, and Schauffele has now made it to the weekend in 72 consecutive tournaments worldwide.
That is a hugely-impressive achievement considering he spent over two months on the sidelines early this year due to a rib injury, with scans in January showing an intercostal strain and cartilage damage.
Schauffele returned to action at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March and finished in a tie for 40th, and he did well to post a top-10 finish at The Masters the following month.

The 31-year-old has teed it up in 16 tournaments in 2025 and made it safely through to the weekend in all of them, but how many more cuts does he need to make to match the record held by Tiger Woods?
The simple answer is that he is only just over halfway!

Woods, who has just announced he has had another health setback and underwent a seventh operation on his back, put together an astonishing run of 142 straight cuts made in the early stages of his professional career.
The 15-time major champion was an ever-present at the weekend between 1998 and 2005, blitzing the previous record of 113 held by the legendary Byron Nelson.

Ironically, the Woods streak came to an end at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship in May 2005, when he was just one shot away from extending his incredible run.
It is a record that many feel will never be beaten, but Schauffele and world No 1 Scottie Scheffler have made decent inroads into doing the unthinkable.
Schauffele has not missed a cut since The Masters in 2022, while Scheffler is not far behind having made it to the weekend in 64 straight starts.
To put that into context, the average cut streak for a PGA Tour professional is just four in a row!
And if you remove majors from the equation, Schauffele’s cut streak in regular PGA Tour events is even more impressive as he has not missed one since the Farmers Insurance Open in January, 2020.

If he stays healthy and plays around 20 events a year, then Schauffele could be looking at breaking the Woods record sometime in 2029, but that would be a huge ask.
