Craig Kesler’s first trip to California’s Coachella Valley as LPGA commissioner left a strong impression. At the Epson Tour Championship in Indian Wells, he marveled at the backdrop of the Santa Rosa Mountains and the quality of the course, calling it pretty special. Less than 3 months into his role as the 10th Commissioner, Kesler is already discovering new facets of the women’s golf circuit each week, and the Epson Tour finale highlighted both the sport and the city’s commitment to supporting it. Kesler praised the partnership with Indian Wells, noting the city’s enthusiasm and the importance of Epson’s sponsorship. The Desert Region, which hosted the Chevron Championship for over 50 years before it moved to Houston, presents a potential opportunity for a future LPGA event. This valley has an incredibly rich history in women’s golf, Kesler said. And if we have the opportunity with the right partners and the right golf course to do something here, it would be music to our ears. At 39, Kesler brings a diverse background to the LPGA. He spent time with the PGA of America, served as COO of Topgolf, led Buff City Soap as CEO, and worked with major private equity firms. His mix of golf knowledge and business expertise was exactly what the LPGA sought. As Molly Maru Simon stepped down after three and a half years at the helm, Kesler emphasized the untapped potential of the tour and the incredible stories of its athletes. He believes women’s sports are experiencing a macro tailwind and that the LPGA is uniquely positioned to capitalize on it. Notably, he highlighted research showing women and girls are now the primary growth drivers in golf, noting how his own young sons watch women’s golf on weekends, a far cry from the sport he knew as a child. Looking ahead, Kesler outlined four key priorities. Gaining trust with fans, players, sponsors, and staff. Building visibility to make LPGA events and athletes more accessible. inspiring deeper passion among fans and ensuring financial strength for the next 75 years. His vision combines respect for the LPGA’s history with a clear plan to elevate the tour, its players, and its impact on the sport globally.
