Almost all the super stars of golf today were influenced by tiger. Golf is just fine.

The tours still waiting for somebody to fill his shoes, nobody draws a crowd like him anymore

The crowds following Scottie are massive.
They pale in comparison to Tiger mania if you ever had a chance to see him live in his prime. It was like trying to leave a packed stadium every time you followed him from one hole to the next.

No. It’s not as interesting. No one like Tiger.

He fundamentally changed the sport and the zeitgeist around the sport.

I’ve been to a couple of US Opens where Tiger played, and the trick was to stake out a spot, watch him play through, and then follow the group behind. He would take the entire crowd with him.
I pretty much was able to walk side by side with DJ and McDowell when McDowell won, because Tiger was in the group ahead.

I love all of Tiger’s story. The whole journey was perfect. It was a pleasure to be old enough to appreciate it

Its still just a matter of how you look at it. Yes he definitely changed the way everyone looked at golf back then. Yes I would say alot of the views and popularity propelled the sport to were it is now. All of that money turned into wonderful tech advances in clubs and balls and I absolutely love how far it has come. The difference in tiger and other modern players is the absolute dominance that tiger had over everyone else. Like scotty definitely is the best in golf IMO but there are plenty right around him that could take that time from him. Tiger was on a different level all together.

Easy answer, is the game the same without Tiger?

Tiger Woods has had a larger economic impact on Golf than any other athlete in the history of professional sports. Honestly it probably isn’t even close. The number of courses and homes built on courses because of the popularity he brought to the game is almost unfathomable. Globally who even knows what the revenue generation would come to. Tournament purses started to double every three years. The only people that lost out were the Cory Pavin type players that couldn’t deal with the lengthening that took place on tour after he started winning. Tiger came on the scene and changed how the game was played and paid.

Jack and Arnold came before Tiger and Phil. It will happen again but it might not be before 2035-40
