QUINCY, Ill. (KHQA) — Day two of IHSA State Golf wrapped up on Saturday for many local teams and players.
In Girls’ Class 1A, QND grabbed second place overall as a team with a 649, their highest finish at state in program history. It is just the second time the Lady Raiders are bringing hardware back to Quincy (2012).
Individually, the team’s highest finisher was Natalie Druffel who tied for third with a 152. Belle Boudreau shot a 155, good enough for eighth place. Also, inside the top 40 finishers were Olivia Scholz with a 170 (tie for 33rd), and Nancy Scholz with a 172 (tie for 35th).
The other local representative in Girls’ Class 1A on day two was Macomb’s Sophie Wilson, who shot a 180 and finished in a tie for 61st.
Meanwhile, the QND boys finished in sixth place as a team with a 610 in Boys’ Class 2A.
Individually, Beau Eftink led the Raiders in a tie for 11th place with a 148, and Olliver Hendrian was just one stroke behind in 16th place with a 149. Harper Hough added a 157, good enough for a tie for 42nd.
Over in Boys’ Class 1A, the Pittsfield squad finished in seventh as a team with a 658.
The Saukees’ leading finisher was Isaac McGlauchlen in a tie for 24th with a 159, and his teammate Colby Hayes sat just one stroke behind him in a tie for 28th place with a 160.
Illini West’s Nolan Murphy had the best individual finish of any local golfers, shooting a 146, good enough for a tie of second place. Murphy shot one under par on Saturday and overall finished just two strokes off the lead in Boys’ Class 1A.
