I don’t fully understand the index system I know it is not to tell you how you’re exactly going to play but I just don’t understand how it can go up almost 3 from what it was.

Strokes gained compared to what? 30 handicappers?

If it’s the WHS, it’s an average of your best 8 rounds out of the last 20. So without seeing your round history it’s hard to tell but likely a really good round fell out of range to be counted and therefore the average went up.

Depends on what system you are using (countries have different ones) but it’s normal to have the average of the best 8 of your last 20. So maybe your best round was 20 rounds ago and that got knocked out of the count.

From that screenshot it looks like the app was giving you 7 shots, which would mean you were 3 over handicap, so it would go up. What was the course rating, slope, and your current handicap?

What was the course index and what tee box did you play?

Your index has nothing to do with SG… First thing to note is your index is average of your best 8 of your last 20 *differentials*, not scores.

Also there’s that about differentials for 9 hole rounds.

It’s all just math, you could even calculate your own :). And 18Birdies may or may not be taking shortcuts. Get a real handicap through the GHIN
