The vision to create a world-class venue capable of bringing the prestigious Ryder Cup back to England for the first time since the Belelfrey hosted in 2002. The course redesign will be overseen by European Golf Design, the official design firm of Ryder Cup Europe with invaluable input from both Justin Rose and golf icon Gary Player. Rose, who has previously collaborated with European Golf Design on the West Course at Close House, brings both elite playing experience and creative vision to the table. His involvement adds major credibility to the Luton who project and underscores its lofty ambitions. According to Surrender Aurora, founder and chairman of the Aurora Group, the goal is nothing short of extraordinary. We are very excited about the whole project, Aurora said. It has always been my dream to create the Augusta of Europe. Work has already begun and we’ve appointed Atlantic Golf Construction from Ireland. The same team that built Otter Manor the host venue for the next RDER Cup. We’re not cutting corners. It’s more than about time we bring the RDER Cup home. Aurora emphasized that enlisting Rose and Player was a huge statement of intent, proving their commitment to crafting something truly special and enduring for British golf. If successful, Luton, who would mark a historic moment, the first Rder Cup on English soil in over three decades. However, the Bedford Cheer venue faces strong competition from Holton Park in Bolton. Another high-profile bid led by Peel Land with support from Bolton Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Despite initial push back from locals, the Bolton Project remains a serious contender and even boasts the endorsement of Tommy Fleetwood, Rose’s Team Europe teammate. Both sites are vying for one of golf’s greatest honors to host the 2035 RDER Cup, a decision that could reshape the landscape of British golf for decades to come.
