ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Head Women’s Golf Coach Ross Cash has been honored with a No. 20 national ranking in Golfweek’s 2025 College Coach Survey for women’s golf programs. This recognition places him among the elite cadre of collegiate golf coaches and highlights the rising trajectory of the Bulldogs’ women’s golf program.

Cash is in his fourth season at the helm of the women’s golf program. So far this year, the Bulldogs have two second-place finishes and tied for 10th in a highly competitive field at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic. The program has two Big South Golfer of the Week honors, with Lauren Madson earning the award on Aug. 28 and Caroline Patterson on Sept. 25.

In Asheville’s season opener at Clemson, Asheville shot a 574 (-2) after shooting 5-over on the first 18 holes and 7-under on the back half of the 36 holes. Asheville’s 7-under-par (281) second round is the lowest round scored in program history, and the Bulldogs’ 2-under-par 36-hole finish marks the first time in program history Asheville has finished a tournament under par. Asheville’s 574 on the day is a program record for the lowest 36-hole score. In her Bulldog debut, Madson led Asheville with rounds of 73-67, finishing the day at 4-under-par. Madson’s 5-under-par second round makes her the second Bulldog in program history to shoot a 5-under-par round, as teammate Patterson shot a 5-under-par 67 last season at the Mercer Invitational. Madson’s two-round score of 140 (-4) set a new program record for lowest 36-hole total.

Last season, the Bulldogs advanced to match play at the Big South Conference Championship for the second time in program history. The Bulldogs collected seven postseason awards, with Patterson leading the way by earning Newcomer of the Year. The Bulldogs posted six top-five finishes on the season. Patterson became Asheville’s third-ever individual tournament champion following her victory at the Velvet Classic last September.
