For the first time in seven years. The major league baseball postseason takes center stage at Wrigley field with the Wrigley faithful memories of Cups greats all around this hallowed ground , some cubs greats of the future. Hoping to make their mark against a hungry San Diego team. The postseason is about to get underway one of the best left handed pitchers in the national league. And Ben, that is the all star Matthew Boyd having a career year in his 11th big league season career high, 14 wins, career best 3, 21. Er, a and he loves the friendly confines. How about at home here at Wrigley Field? 15 starts 12 and one with a 251 a 3 to 2 to tease grounds the ball to dan it up for the leadoff out of the postseason. One out. Nobody on for Luis. Here’s a fly ball to left. Should be routine for hap waiting and making the catch out. Number two, no score just under way. Manny Machado comes up lines, one caught by Shaw at third one , third, baseman lines out to the other. It’s a 123, 1st inning for Matthew Boyd. Right hander. Nick Patta is going for San Diego 13 and five, a 2.87. Er A N Pata making only his second career postseason start in the air to center field. Meres back, shielding his eyes onto the track in left center, he’s there to make the catch one away as Busch gave it a ride on another day at Wrigley Field. That one would have been into the basket. Here is Niko Horner, the second baseman, a ground ball in the right field base hit the first hit of this series for the Cubs. The switch hitter batting left handed to two is taken on the inside quarter, strike three called perfectly placed by. This is one of the big question marks coming into the series just we’ve seen not many better all around players in baseball the last few years, Kyle Tucker , but only three games back from a screen, still not healthy enough to play, swung on and missed strike 396 up and out of the zone and back to back strikeouts for Nick Jackson Merrill last year’s rookie of the year, Merrill hits one of the year up the right field line. Long run. Suzuki not going to get there dumps out a fair ball. Merrill is going to try for two Suzuki throw, no shot and a hustle double for Jackson Merrill to begin the second inning. It’s a slider that really never broke back over the middle of the plate. So it ends up jamming it, but it works to perfection for Jackson and because he was sniffing double out of the box, there really wasn’t a play at second as he begins the second inning with a leadoff double. So a man at second, Xander Bogart’s the batter boards to left center field. That ball is blistered by Xander Bogart. One hop off the Ivy, forget moving the guy up on a routine grounder. Bogart scores Mary on a double and takes San Diego strikes first in the wild card and Xander Bogart’s back from a fractured foot is right back in the swing of things. They crack things open here early Xander jumping all over the 22 heater splits. The left center field alley, a double by Merrill, a double by Bogart. The error goes to Crow Armstrong and that means the infield is in against Ryan, a ground ball to short beautiful play by Dansby Swanson. He saved a run and took a base hit away from o’hearn and Boyd trying to limit the damage to only one run. Cheats with a pop up shadow left Swanson and Shaw and it’s the third baseman for out number two as he goes to work on, Jake Cronenworth. Padres will look to create some two out bouncing ball over the mound fielded by Swanson throws him out. The Padres do get one. They had a man at third with a run in and nobody out and boy did an excellent job Suzuki leads off bottom of the second inning against nick Patta. Swings, hits it in the air to left center, not deep at all. Me having a charge in, dives forward and makes the catch long , long run for Jackson Merrill and he makes the play for out number one here in the bottom of the second inning. No work, no doubt about it. That, that wind was the reason he had to come so far in how far he’s got to come for this too. I mean, that’s the biggest thing. You got the sun, you got all the factors and he came a long way to finish this off. Jackson Merrow had to make the adjustment but a sliding catch nonetheless for out. Number one, Arson Kelly steps in one to nothing. Padres second inning foul strikeout another fastball and nick Pata is today. He struck out three of the last 42 outs. Nobody on for Pete Armstrong and a swing and a miss at a curve in the dirt. Verin picks it up, throws to first base to finish the job. And another two strikeout inning for nick Patta. So the leadoff man is on for a second time for San Diego. The first walk of the game, Jackson Merrill had a double and scored the game’s only run down by Jackson Merrill. San Diego. Small ball is in full effect. Their franchise center fielder, unselfish play is second sacrifice bunt of the year Padres lead the big leagues in sacrifice bunts. This has been a part of their game the entire season. Machado at second one out top of the fourth inning and the bouncer to the left to the mound that could be trouble charged by Shaw picks it up through the first. Not in time. Broken bone it all. Xander able to beat it out for an infield single. He’s two for two. Machado goes to third and with one out here in the top of the fourth inning, the Padres have runners on the corners for Ryan O this ball to the shallow center catch and throws it plenty of time to the plate to hold. Machado. Dansby Swanson for a second time with a runner at third. What a play by Dansby Swanson, a little looping line drive over the shortstop’s head into shallow left center. He went back with his back to the infield and made an amazing catch gavin sheets. The batter fly ball right center field playable for Suzuki or Crow Armstrong Pete makes the catch Lloyd makes some good pitches. Gets out of the jam. Nick Patta with five strikeouts through three. Scary thing for the Cubs lineup right now, Patta is mowed down the order with 83% fastballs and just six breaking balls through the first three innings strikes out. He tied him up with a right on left sweeper and has punched down six and a ground ball to base. Has it up by his face. A race to the bag and Luis wins the race a 12 3/4 for Pata who is now put down in a row as Padres have their fourth hit just 58 pitches through four and one third. That is the end of the game one start for Matthew is going to turn it over to the bullpen and Daniel takes his first pitch to Suzuki and 32 away that will bring up Luis swings and drills one in the air right center racing over Crowl Armstrong and he makes a running catch and Valencia does the job for me stranded at first. Nick Pata who has been outstanding six strikeouts just the one hit allowed and he has retired each of the last 11 hitters. Swings, drills one deep left center field. This is going to, it’s gone solo shot to left center by Seya Suzuki, 11 Cubs and Padres here in the fifth Poveda gets this one down in the zone about mid thigh and say hit a two iron right into the seats in left center. We got a new ball game. He mashed it 424 ft into the bleachers for Suzuki S Suzuki had homered in his last four games in the regular season. He adds one more in the playoffs. One, one here’s C. Kelly. Kelly with a high drive to center field. Maryland’s back sheets at the wall, the Cubs smash out of their slumber with back to back home runs in the fifth Suzuki and Kelly put Chicago in the lead. Now he gets a pitch to hit, it hits a towering home run that makes it about two rows deep. That high fastball, you get the head of the bat out and he did and he gives the Cubs the lead big swings of the bat here in the field, everyone at Wrigley field on their feet and the atmosphere has changed considerably Cubs with a 21 lead over the Padres terrific for four trailing in the fifth. And nick Patta dominated the Cubs through four innings with fastballs up in the zone. And now you can see the Cubs starting to make those adjustments on PC strikes out for the second time. That’s number seven for Pata and the first out here in the bottom of the fifth inning Cubs lead it 2 to 1 and Swanson coming up back to back to back strikeouts after the back to back home swings and tips it into Fm’s mid strike three and three straight strikeouts after the back to back home runs turns the ball to Adrian Mori, one of the best left handed relievers in baseball. He has been busy making his 76th appearance of the year back to back singles for the Cubs. Now, the Cubs are thinking about adding to their 2 to 1 lead down to third. Machado steps one to second to first, it’s a double play. Two enormous outs for Adrian M 1st and 2nd. Nobody out and a really good pitch in the bottom of the zone you hit for Manny Machado. You can forget about there 5 to 4 to 3. And this is a very important at bat in this game for kyle Tucker. First pitch swinging Tucker pops it up shallow center Jackson Merrill coming on, he’s there and he’s got it to end the inning. Cubs had a great scoring chance but it slips away. San Diego got a scoreless hitting out of Adrian Mone who ran in a runner at third and now Mason Miller on the postseason stage for the first time and there’s a fastball that’s insane. 100 three. Here’s what you do off Mason Miller. You pick one or the other. I don’t think as a hitter you can cover both 102 103 miles an hour and a slider too. So you try to sit on one pitch and hope out of the three that you get. Maybe he makes a mistake. Strikes to Kelly back to back strikeouts for Miller, the Padres will punch down 11 two pitch, Armstrong swings and misses the ball in the dirt will pick it up and tag him out as Mason Miller strikes out the side with a 21 lead turns to Andrew Kittridge here in the Valencia was outstanding Palmer and now the Cubs will turn to their third reliever of the day and need to do something to change the way this game is going right now. A two, two straight back here, two down, it starts out outside corner has a little cut to it and clips the outside corner. Now the 11 fly ball to center field, Pete Crow Armstrong makes the catch three up, three down the bullpen for the Cubs doing an excellent job. Today we go to the bottom of the eighth inning 21 lead for Chicago and now the former Cub Jeremiah Estrada takes over the eight Dansby lines. One to left fielder base hit leadoff single Dansby Swanson. That could be a very big run if the Cubs could score in this inning. Here’s a bunt toward first arise , will glove it and tag Shaw gets credit for a sacrifice and the Padres are going to walk. Michael Bush. Here is Niko Horner Cup fan favorite two for three today. W and Bush, the runners on 02 away from me, Watson to third push to second as the Cubs read the dirt ball. Well, for a while. Pitch boy, is that a big play for the Cubs Horner trying to come through with men at 2nd and 3rd. Center field. Merrill from shallow center Watson back to the bag at third. Merrill’s throw home off the mound comes extend the lead on a sacrifice fly from Horner and it’s 31. Chicago. That’s what you call understanding the situation. You can see Nico Horner, he wasn’t going to do a whole lot of this. He knew the runner was at third base less than two out. He just wanted to shorten his swing. He just jabbed at it. That’s understanding the situation. Big, big insurance run for the Cubs here in the top of the ninth at Wrigley Cubs with a 31 lead over the Padres Brad Keller. Ready to go to work with Manny Machado Jackson Merrill and Xander Bogaerts the heart of the city two up in the night. A ground ball to short has been flawless bullpen today. Valencia. Perfect through an inning and two thirds Pomeranz. Perfect in the seventh. Kittridge. Perfect in the eighth. Here’s Jackson Merrill fly ball to center Jackson Merrill strong in front of the easier than it was. We talked a lot about the sun, but it’s also understanding where the eye need the wall. Everything that’s coming continues to carry on PC to go back and fight that. So he’s looking right into it out of the X will try to reach base and he can to keep this thing going. But now 13 in a row retired by the ST close the door and the Cubs a magnificent performance by the Chicago bullpen. They retire all 14 batters that they face and the back to back homers by Suzuki and Kelly in the bottom of the fifth turn out to be enough as the Cubs win game one in front of a remarkable crowd here at Wrigley Field.

Matthew Boyd and the bullpen. Held one enough. When Selya Suzuki and Carson Kelly going back to back. In the 5th inning and insurance run in 8. Enough for the W up 1-0 3 game series ⚾
Hey San Diego losers. Thanks for letting your best pitcher go(Snell). Sincerely, the best team in the nlwest Dodgers.
Madres taking their vacation to Cancun very early lol
Machado should’ve tagged up and scored on the pop out the shortstop who had his back to the infield and couldn’t of got off a good throw! Even with Machados slow speed he could’ve scored.
These postseason games have not disappointed so far

Better start hitting the baseball were they ain't, and stop relying on the frickin he ball. They will lose game 2
Bogaerts and Cronenworth are 2 of the worst batters that I have ever seen.
One pre-video and five embedded ads for 15mins… Way to ruin it, won't be watching next season…
As Dodger fan thank you Chicago, send them home.
Chicago pizza is good but Los Angeles mexicano pizza is the best Carne Asada style pizza at Adrian Gonzalez Slicer pizzeria and taqueria🇲🇽🌮🍕
My god, Dansby's and PCA's defense, Seiya's and Carson's homers, and that BEAUTIFUL strike 3 to end it. What a game.
PCA getting charged with that error is criminal. Easy pick at second
