[Music] Oh man, we did some calculations. About a 370 yard t- shot. That’s such a good golf shot. How’s that putter look for you? It’s pretty old, but this is going to be fun. This is to shoot. Oh my goodness. Hey golfers, I’m Drew Maholi in Swing Golf. And today we’ve got a really good one for you. Sam Yunovich is joining me. Two-time state champion in Minnesota, a heck of a high school golf career, and we’re going to have him play clubs that are older than him and see if he can shoot even par on three holes. So Sam, first of all, um, thank you for joining us. Your first impression when you see this set of golf clubs, what kind of confidence do you have right now? Uh, I don’t even know that. I’m not sure. I’m not sure yet. They they in first impression of that they’re pretty old. So we’ll see. Yeah. So we’ve got I’m going to run through the entire bag here for you. Titalist 905T a for the driver. We’ve got a 3-wood at a Titus 904F and then the irons are actually a 695 muscle back. And again, this is a whole titus bag here for you. And then uh we got a 52 and 58 degree Voki 200 series wedge. And from our friend, master fitter Tyler Fitzell, we’ve got a Laguna 2.5 Scotty Cameron Pro Platinum putter. So, um, we’re going to have you play holes seven through nine here at the Royal. Um, have you ever played clubs or even hit clubs that are this old? No, I don’t think so. I don’t think so. So, what’s your like what do you what’s your mentality here? You just going to swing and just Yeah, I think just swing and see how see how it works. Yeah, nothing really much else to it. All right. Well, we got the first hole here. Your What do you see now on this hole? We’re on the back tea box here. We’re talking about what looks like what is it like a 200 yard par three here down the hill. Do you even know what club you might pull here? I’m not I guess we’ll we’ll fill it out. I think take a guess. So, all right. Well, let’s let’s get to it here. Sure. [Music] So, what’s you’ve kind of analyzed yardage, what what club have you picked and how you know put that thing at address. Tell me how different that thing is. So, it’s 210 yards down to 198. I got a sixiron. Uh okay. Grip’s a little wonky, but the the club actually feels pretty good. I mean, it doesn’t really feel and look a lot different, but So, you’re playing T100s right now. So, how much different is that? Is it bigger? Is it smaller? It’s definitely smaller. I feel like it’s kind of more bladyy, so it’s kind of more like narrow, I feel like. So, less forgiveness and less hitting space on the club, right? So, all right. Well, here we go. Oh, we got a sixiron from about 200 yards or a little over 200 yards. Yeah, this is going to be fun. Oh my go. Is that all the way there? I saw a bounce. I think it might be on the front. Yeah, it’s like perfect distance like 20 feet. I look like it’s pin high. That’s such a good golf shot. Sweet. How’d that feel? Felt pretty good, actually. Yeah, it sounded pretty crisp. It came off pretty well, actually. Now we get to putt for birdie. So we got what is this like 15 20 ft? I’d say about that. Okay. So now talk me through this putt here. Um so I it’s pretty flat but I feel like maybe a little uphill but as you see I mean you can’t really can’t really go past it obviously. Right. Um so kind of a little bit more on the conservative side but I think I can definitely give it a little bit of a run out this one. Okay. Um how’s that putter look for you? It’s pretty old but feels pretty good actually. Definitely keeps it in good condition. Yeah. Um, so I obviously just see a pretty hard breaking right to left putt here. Just don’t really want it to get if anything just get away from me if that’s the number one thing. But I think that just kind of play a little bit more break than I originally think just to kind of be a little bit more conservative. But okay, definitely give this one. Let’s see it. Go. Oh, that’s too conserv. All right. All right. There is a big slope behind the hole, so I can understand if you’re a little bit timid on that one. Had the right line. All right. Well, even through one. Not too bad. We’ll take it. [Music] Now in the eighth hole, Sam par4. And you’ve got the 905T driver. So tell me what you see with that one. Uh it feels pretty good actually. The face is definitely a little smaller than an average driver, but right um not that bad actually. Okay. So you’re stepping up here. What do you see here? What are you you visualizing for yourself? So my first thought is I see a little dog on your right. So I don’t really obviously want to miss, you know, on too far right. Um I think my my starting line is staying kind of little left center probably. Okay. Uh maybe favor just a little baby cut. If not, you know, pretty straight ball. But Okay. All right. If you could hit a straight ball with that driver, I’ll be impressed. Yep. Wow. That was nice. That sound is certainly interesting. How’d it feel compared to like your driver? Pretty good. I’m actually impressed a little bit. Okay. Yeah. I think you’re just on the right side there. Yeah. All right. Look good. So, second shot. I’m coming. Sweet. All right. Almost a perfect drive. Sam, we’ve got almost on the left half of the fairway here. What have you got here? What do you What club did you pick for this one? So, I got a pitching wedge. Uh I got 138 yards. Um little into the breeze. It looks like it’s a back pin, so I don’t really want to go long. So, I’m going to take a club that hopefully takes that out. Okay. Um my goal here is just to hit like a little maybe a low one. Keep it just a little flighted, but a little more control. And Gotcha. Put a good swing on it. [Music] Oh, wow. Man, the wind really kind of ate that. It looks like Oh, looks like you’re on the front of the green. That’s coming back. Oh, it did spin back. Yeah, the wind really kind of ate that one up a little bit, but hey, that’s You had a long leg putt here now with Tyler’s putter. Yeah, that’s exciting. All right, so looks like you kind of caught some slope here and it landed and it zipped it back quite a bit. We’ve got almost the entire green for you to cover here, Sam. So, talk me through this one. So, I think it’s about 60 ft. Looks like it just goes uphill the entire way, but at the hole, it just kind of drops off. But almost looks like it’s better to be a little passive just have an uphill uphill putt coming back. But, um, kind of just more in favor again of just playing a lot of break here and just letting the Yeah. Again, this is a putter that you’ve never used before. So, well, besides the last hole. So, yeah. Um, just going to play it maybe six to 8t outside and just let it swoop in. Yeah, exactly. That’s gone. Sit under the tripod. Right under the tripod. What are you seeing now? Just going to move a little bit back to the right. Yeah. So, I mean, like I said, uphill. So, we got a nice little probably eight footer here. Pretty simple. It’s actually a pretty solid leg putt. We’re pretty close from that far. Um, I’m just going to play about half a cup outside left a ball and just strip the hill. So, let’s make this one too hard. Again, hit it through. Yeah. Ah, same thing. We have a par five to get the get the stroke back here. All right, make an eagle or eagle even. Interesting. I like that idea. [Music] All right, ninth hole, Sam. Last one of the challenge here. Par five. We’re we’re gonna hope to get a shot back after the last hole. What are you seeing here with this one? Um, my first glance is pretty straight away par five. I mean, we’re a little downwind as well, so I feel like I can kind of let loose here a little bit. Kind of get myself up there as far as I can. Um, put a good swing on it and yeah, I’m excited. I’m excited to see this. This is uh, again, this is this driver is 20ome years old, but I just watched him crush one in the fairway last hole and we’re downwind here, so this will be fun. Oh man, that’s nice. How do you hit it so straight with with that club? I mean, that’s right up the right side. I don’t think it it didn’t curve at all. I don’t think that’s pretty straight. That’s pretty straight. We got Eagle or birdie on the mind now. Let’s do it. Make a little number. All right. Well, we did some calculations. This is a 534 yard par five according to the scorecard. And you have what is it 160 165 yards remaining. So about a 370 yard t-shot. That’s with with a driver that is 20 plus something years old. It’s pretty good. It’s pretty good. That’s pretty good shot. What are you looking at here? We’re in obviously we’re kind of in probably mid to short iron distance here. What do you see with this one? So it’s 165 yards. Um I look at that red stake so it means it’s a front pin. So I driving up it looked like you didn’t really want to be short. So, I’m hitting an eight iron instead of a nine just so I don’t kind of take away that shortness. Um, having a putt behind it would be pretty good. Um, a little downwind. I’m just going to take pretty much dead aim here. I don’t really know why, you know. Yeah. No reason not to. Yeah. I mean, not much going on out on the sides of it. So, aim a little right because the wind and put a good swing on it. I like it. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. Keep turning. It’s trying to draw in there. Did it stay up? I think so. Should have an eagle putt. It looked like a really good distance, too. Yeah, it looked pretty good. Well, we got an eagle putt. So, you’re trying to go one under still, even after a bogey. Yep. All right, so the eight iron did go a little long. Actually, a really good line, though. We’re just a little bit deep over this ridge. So, talking about this putt here, we’ve got a big slope to to figure out here. Yeah. Um I It’s kind of just another putt where it’s just pretty straightforward. I feel like it’s just downhill the entire way. I’m just trying to literally just try to trickle it over this first slope. Yeah. Um feel like can get away from me pretty easily here. So, um play a couple feet out and dial in that speed and hit a good one. All right, here it is. This is to shoot. Oh my goodness. There we go. Shoots one under on these three holes with clubs older than him. Dang. with a what is that? A 50footer somewhere there. That was awesome. So, all right. So, let’s let’s go over this again. All the clubs are older than you are. You just went one under in three holes with a bogey. What are what are your thoughts after that? How how would you recap what you just did? Yeah. Uh I thought it was I mean, it’s pretty fun. Um the clubs are so different. I mean, just kind of like emphasizes what we talked about earlier, like the the importance of getting club fitted, but um they were pretty good. I honestly was a little bit impressed for sure. Yeah. Yeah. I I mean you hit a 360 yard drive here minimum. Um and then the putter you got you had a couple Yeah. Maybe last hole kind of the how hard to to swing the putter was maybe a part of the contributing factor to a three putt there. But um that was a lot of fun. Where does this rank among all of your golf accomplishments that you’ve had so far? Where does shooting one under with clubs older than you? Extremely high. Extremely high for sure. Awesome. Well Sam, thank you so much for joining. This was a lot of fun. Uh we wish you the best of luck within your college career. Thank you. [Music]

His initial reaction was basically like who cares? I’m a great golfer and the clubs are fine.
It’s not like they are persimmon. Just takes a bit of getting used to.
That putter is a masterpiece…the disrespect on first look 😂
I hope the thumbnail title isn't implying these clubs would be a problem. This guy's swing is textbook. I have clubs pushing 20 yrs and do fine, and I'm not in this guy's league by any means. Sometimes I blow up, but my clubs aren't the problem.
This kid has a fundamentally solid swing showing once again it's the player's skill not necessarily the tools that make a difference.
Goes to show it’s the Indian and not the arrow.
The blade putter, irons, and wedges haven't changed in 20 years.
What clubs wete they. He never said
I wouldn't be able to concentrate with a guy standing in my peripheral vision like that.
My clubs are from the same era as these and I’ve played them without issue since new.
Really good content…this channel always brings the heat. Keep it up!
More of these please Drew. I still play both that same driver and the 16.5 version of the fairway quite a bit for fun.
I have a set of Ping Eye2’s from early 1990 1-iron through P-iron that I sent to Ping four years ago for refurbishing after playing them for over 30 years. I got back a brand new set of clubs. Ping did an unbelievable job on the heads and especially the grooves. I still play them occasionally and they just go dead straight like always.
Danny Noonan!
Think this shows the importance of a gapping session. 😂
It's almost like the clubs are way less important than the skill of the player.
But will I continue to fall for the marketing hype? Absolutely
Drew was all in his personal space lol.
solid player. he has confidence no matter the clubs, not that the clubs are bad. love those irons.
905T is one of my favorite drivers ever!!!
when sam was a freshmen he played with my son(also a freshmen) at state. He was very quiet, extremely talented and just a nice kid. Nice to see he's gotten even better. Good luck at TCU.
I wished I had this set 😂 20yrs is nothing in the grand scheme of golfing. As long as you can do what you need them to do then they will be fine.
He didn’t even have to use any of the wedges 😂
