Brian Urlacher Retired Because Chicago Fired Lovie Smith #nfl #football #chicagobears

It didn’t have to be that way. Number one, they should never fire Levy. Since they fired Levy, it’s been for them. They’ve gone through four or five head coaches. You know, we’re 10 and six that last year. They fired Levy. So, they they hire a GM. They fired Jerry Angelo, my 12th year, cuz we didn’t have a backup quarterback when Jay got hurt. So, they fired Jerry. Allegedly, that’s the reason why we were seven and three. Went up eight and eight. They fired Jerry. Next year, we go 10 and six with the the new GM and they fire Love Levy. And I’m I’m glad I didn’t go back there because I didn’t want to play for anybody else. Honestly, it it was it would have been weird being with the Bears not having Levy there.

Lovie got fired because his defense was outdated, and the league wasn’t falling for it anymore. If you want proof than all you have to do is look at all the success he had as a coach after he left. THE COVER 2 IS DEAD! Ask eberflus.
I loved Brian as a linebacker for the Bears. He kept up the tradition of having some of the greatest linebackers of all-time. I loved his on-field and off-field personalities.
And I agree with Brian, the firing of Lovie was ridiculous.
Love Smith sucked he didn't do shit wow a super bowl appearance did they win no and then when they fired him and he went on to coach a NFL team and then a collage team he didn't do shit stop making him more then what he was I guess because he's black right
Urlacher was my favorite linebacker growing up
Loyalty, it still matters to some people
As least Lovie fingerprints still on the franchise…remember he won the game for tge Texans that got us the #1 pick that led to the haul then Caleb…in the event we win a Chip we need to do a special recognition for him for sure!
How many time did Lovie beat Tom Brady? He's very consistent in beating average teams.
NEVER BE LOYAL TO A COMPANY YOU DONT OWN!!
Yeah Lovie being a great coach is stretching it😂 he worked wonders with what that defense big 5 4 Urlacher being the catalyst boom 💥
They fired Lovie after a 10 win season because they still missed the playoffs. Bears were trying to model themselves after what the Tampa Bay Bucs did in 2002 firing Tony Dungy after a playoff loss because they felt he couldn't get them over the hump. Their original plan was to hire Bill Parcells but couldn't get him so they traded a pretty good haul to the Raiders for Jon Gruden to fix the offense. That worked out for them as they won the SuperBowl that very season but the only reason it worked was because they kept their DC Monte Kiffin & kept the defense business as usual while Gruden concentrated on offense. Where the Bears failed after Lovie was not retaining their DC Rod Marinelli when they hired Marc Trestman so they filled the DC slot with Mel Tucker who is a horrible NFL coordinator & who's lousy defense tanked a season where Trestman's offense was actually pretty potent. Then the next season all the wheels came off & the team was a total disaster & it was all downhill for the Bears from there with one great season in 2018 & even that season resulted in a one and done playoff appearance.
Wish more athletes put loyalty and victory over money.
Peak Lovie was when he looked like Black Oden with that white beard he had
Bears office let limping crappy cutler play against lions., when McCowen was healthy & better, but he wasnt *1 their shitty choice, so they ley the fans suffer again
The Bears fked up. They did everything you don’t do. BU is a once in a generation player. You keep the coach that got you 10-6 so what you missed the playoffs it’s rare to miss with a 10 win season. You keep Brian as long as he wants to play and do what you can around that.
You know what after watching for a while my last comment here is this game isn’t bad. It’s got more to it than you think. I like it. Fun watch.
Ok so it was a contract dispute.
Didn't care for Lovie much, however, fired at 10-6 after guiding the team to a Super Bowl prior? The Bears have always confounded from a front office and management standpoint
If you think Brady jab stepping ya made ya look bad, they'd have been like, Danny Moon Vick is The TRUTH after I got done with ya, blaf. 😂
Lovie was done. He was never going to win. It was time.
Love did not deserve to be fired, Angelo did, yeah. But Lovie was not perfect either, he could not find an OC to save his life. Fox and Vic put together a hell of a defense as good as anything Lovie had if not better. But it’s been one disaster after another. Lovie never would have gotten a ring, and the Bears could not sustain shopping in Free agency to constantly build the team. Brian credits Lovie for a lot of success, I tend to Credit Brian for a lot of that Success and Peanut, Hester, Peppers, Olin, Jones, Tommie when he was healthy, Briggs, Tait, Garza, Forte, Chris Harris, Izzy, Mike Brown, Clarke Jennings. We had some guys.
Since the Bears fired Lovie Smith they've only had one season above .500. That firing aged like milk… He was also pretty loyal coach considering he was also the lowest paid head coach in the NFL during his time in Chicago.
Lovie had his flaws. Starting Grossman over Orton for the SB is one. Also one of the worst 2 minute coaches, just awful. He probably could have added another 10 wins to his resume in Chicago. If we had a top level quarterback and a good OC, the sky was the limit. That being said, stellar defense, and some decent football during his tenture.
It’s all a business nothing more
Lovie Smith is the Michael Jordan of Bear coaches outside of Ditka and Halas.
