He took everything Phil Mickerson could throw at him and on the day he was just too good. What a day’s golf. What a performance. What a winner. [Applause] This is it then. Jordan Spaith, the open champion with one of the most stunning last few hole performances we’ve ever seen to win the clar jug. It took him almost half an hour to play the 13th. He took an unplayable. He played off the practice ground. Somehow he got away with bogey and then followed it with birdie. Eagle Birdie Birdie for his third major title and he’s not yet 24. One final verde and at last Franchesco Molinari can give rain to his emotions. Wonderful part, wonderful round of golf. Is it to be his third win in recent weeks? And in that those three wins, he has dropped a total of one shot. That’s how you win tournaments. Is it going to be enough for Francesco Molinari of Italy? He sets the target at eight under par. [Applause] He very nearly did. Shane Larry is the open champion. The return of the Open to Royal Port Rush has been an absolute triumph. And just to set the seal, an unforgettable week, an Irishman has won an in Ireland. Heat. Heat. And with a power at the last, it is a nerveless. It is a faultless performance from 24 year old Colin Marawa who wins on his open debut. writing his own chapter in major championship history. [Applause] Brilliant. Quite brilliant. What a bat nine. back in 30, finishing 20 under. Now Maroy needs to make an eagle up 18 to tie. Incredible golf today by Smith. Of course he did. Lovely scenes of celebration. He has displayed great skills and great courage out there. remember handling the pressure of leading the open for 36 holes or fending off some of the world’s best players and of these weather conditions as well.
