Loudonville, NY – Although scores were generally higher on Monday morning at Shaker Ridge Country Club, the Clarkson University Golf team trimmed a couple of strokes off its previous score, but was unable to move up the leaderboard at the RPI Invitational, finishing 12th in their sixth tournament this fall.
The Golden Knights finished with a score of 316 on Monday, putting the squad at 634 for the two-day tournament. Swarthmore won the tournament at 589, ahead of New York University (594), Bishop University (598), Farmingdale State (604), Rensselaer ‘A’ (608), Skidmore College (612), Hobart College (613), Steven Institute of Technology (619), SUNY Delhi (623), Russell Sage (630), Springfield College (631), the Golden Knights at 634, Rensselaer ‘B’ (661), and Mount St. Mary (NY) (669). Clarkson closes out the fall portion of its schedule next weekend at the Skidmore Invitational.
The top golfer for the Knights on Monday was Tyler Yacawych, who shot 76 with a 38 on the front and back, picking up one birdie on number-13. That placed Yacawych in a tie for 36th among the 80 golfers in the tournament, as he ended up with 156 over two days. Eric Spoth finished with a two-day score of 154 as he had an 81 on Monday, which placed him in a tie for 25th overall.
Luke Weisiger recorded 161 with an 80 on Monday, tying him for 50th overall. Weisiger closed out his round with a birdie on the ninth hole. Joe Tiderencel recorded a 79 and finished at 164 for the two-day event, tying him for 64th. Ryan Makowski’s shot 81 on Monday to put him at 165 for the tournament, 70th overall. For the second straight day, Makowski started off slow, but he ended his day two strokes under par over the last five holes.
