Kids of all ages and skill levels turned up to try their hand or improve their swing on the driving range under the expert instruction of professional golf coach Tim Purtill.

Boys and girls, left-handed and right-handed, all were welcome.

Sessions were held last Thursday afternoon with the aim to introduce kids to the sport and offer others a chance to further their skills with some extra practice.

In a sport that can very quickly become a competition of who can whack it the furthest, especially among boys, Mr Purtill’s cool head and expertise provided some valuable lessons for the budding young golf prodigies.

“Figuring out which side to swing from makes all the difference,” Mr Purtill said.

“It’s not as simple as being left or right-handed, and some parents just don’t know which side their child will swing from.

“Some kids are right-handed but have more control swinging a golf club with their left hand, and vice versa.

“As soon as they’re comfortable with their swing everything else flows from there.”

The kids had a great time while hopefully garnering plenty of tips from Mr Purtill and refining their golf play.

After a successful afternoon, two more sessions have been scheduled this Thursday at 2pm and 3:15pm to see out the NSW school holiday period.

Enquiries about these and future programs can be made via the Corowa Golf Club.
